- A local race I love to run, but this time I showed up with my camera, gimbal and drone. First time shooting in 6K anamorphic mode on the Lumix GH5M2-the 4:3 aspect ratio gave me extra height to crop vertically for the Instagram/TikTok edit.

I love the split second at 0:24, when the lead runner briefly glances over his shoulder, like "Is someone trying to pass me?" Luckily I only had to hold his 5:54 pace for ~10 seconds, while carrying the gimbal.
Later (0:42) when I tried to catch him at the finish, I was awkwardly lugging a backpack and drone bag, so no way I could hang with his pace.
Nowadays im starting to use ia as a base to efit this kind of videos. Its amazing the results you get in just a few seconds
Looks like you got a nice run in, too. cool video!
Had to do a little backwards running too!
it look cool with happy music and filters, but in reality is ( sweat, thirst, hard breathing, low energy, frustration ) 😂
Ha ha, that's right! I can make someone's ~2-hour exertion in the heat look pretty fun when it's only 76 seconds to watch!
@@GriffinHammond true, you have good skills of filming and editing that's what make it look that good👍
got to love the diversity at marathon events... lol
You're right, especially after leaving NYC. Alison Mariella Désir's book "Running While Black" talks a lot about the structural and role-model barriers that have kept distance running a predominantly white space:
(from page 232)
"A runner is somebody with secure housing, a safe place to train, running infrastructure-parks, paths, trails, well-kept sidewalks-clean air, and the physical, emotional, and psychological safety to run. And the majority of people with those privileges are white, just as it was during the running boom.
Said simply: your zip code determines not only your health, longevity, safety, and comfort, it also determines who has the freedom to easily run."
Is the stabilization all in camera or did you use a gimbal?😮
Gimbal, yes. Zhiyun WEEBILL-3. Weirdly, my drone (Mavic 2 Zoom) gimbal got overloaded as I took off, so my starting line shot has none of the usual drone gimbal stabilization. I had to stabilize in post, which led me to only use 1 second of that shot.
@@GriffinHammond did that problem resolve itself or is it still doing that?
@@NickzAndMikz I had to land it and power cycle to get the drone gimbal working again. So after a series of shaky, mostly unusable starting line shots, then I got those really nice ones of the runners weaving through the forest preserve trails.
