  • Scenic drive through the Sam Houston National Forest just north of Houston, Texas. Thick strands of towering pine trees dominate this region in the state. Beautiful area in Montgomery County home to cities such as The Woodlands and Conroe. In the video you’ll see the piney woods and a brief crossing of Lake Conroe. Thanks for watching!

    Andrew,
I liked the transition from regular Texas woods over to the tall piney woods.
I have driven though this area myself some years ago and it is uplifting on account of the tall narrow trees.
It gets you out of the visual compression of a flatter Texas.

It’s very cool to see and an interesting change in scenery. Hard to believe a huge chunk of the state looks like this when you live elsewhere. I would love to live among the pines like this.

@@cyclingtexas1670 Yes, Lake Palestine, close to Tyler has these kinds of trees. These have actual pine needles on them. The whole area around Lake Palestine reminds me of sections of the east with some periodic heavy forests and undergrowth. Even the hill country doesn't have this... except for a bit in the lost pines area.
