I think the only reason they don't work is because Amanda doesn't know who they are and she wouldn't have any reason to add something that wouldn't naturally be there but that's just me
but it's weird that amanda seemed pretty resentful towards us during one of the alternate endings in the "do you feel safe" tape...

I think Oppossum is David and Jordan together in one body. Others in comments pointed out how Jordan could recognise Joanne voice if they were kids, when he gone missing. We also know that something happened to David (a guy from the secret meeting about the cartoon) bc it's mentioned and in that scene TV is turned around, so they can't see the pulpit. For me, that means David was trapped in the cartoon as well. He's one who could recognise Joanne voice and try to get to us, but most of the time it was just Jordan. I think they are both trapped in opposum body, bc Opposum is most of the time childish (Jordan) but he recognises Joanne voice (David)
I know that people think that the possum is Jordan since it recognizes Joanne's voice, but what if it's Kate? She'd also recognize Joanne's voice since they'd been working together on this. The possum appearing in that tape seems to be related to viewing the secret tapes which feature Kate and the others. And Kate's cassette appears after dealing with it.
Remember Kate was in a car accident

There is a secret tape (the blue one) that shows us that Sam is being forced to say a messege to Rebecca aka Amanda. In the trailer for the second game, we are shown that wooly is held captive and and is forced to saya messege about Amanda. Can we please attempt to figure out why the trailer is like this because I think i'm onto something.

There is actually evedince for the dancing kid being Jordon the dancing kid was a fan of Amanda so was Jordon the dancing kid jumped a lot the dancing kid had a sleeve /cast on his arm (maybe it's just me) one of the possums arms our more crooked and in the tape when the possum says joane he also jumps at the screen and the dancing kid jumps at the screen and then the tape cuts out I still don't think he is Jordon though

I have a theory about the possum. What if the possum is Jordan? And he’s calling for Joanne. Because how would the possum know Joanne’s name? The possum would know if he knew Joanne.

Nothing happens. I tried it in my own game, and the screaming is coming from the nightlight itself. Either trying to scare us out of giving comfort to Amanda, or there is something or someone trapped in the light.
