For those wondering, assembly and disassembly starts around 9:25. Sorry, was only looking in how to work them (not a full review). It helped a ton, thanks man
I got it!! Yes, they are right. Fasten the loose long strap end hook (with the long hooked strap and the free lead both coming off the spool) to something solid. Put the short hook end in your left hand and pull kinda hard to tighten the entire length between hooks and keep it tight. With your right hand throw the black handle all the way over toward the spool side and against the standing, long hooked strap, then release the red lever and the spool will let go. 😅 I think the videographer’s issue was that he wasn’t pulling on both hooks at once enough to keep the entire line really tight while throwing the handle over, and perhaps there were too many wraps around the spool; two at least, but more than 3-4 may jam the spool.
Good lord… glad I’m not the only one with the unwinding issue. I bought mine a few years ago, just in case I’d need some. Today a got a new bbq, and let the store guys use the “new” straps to tie it in the back of my pickup, ‘cause I’ve not used ratchet straps before. Great. So I get home and manage to loosen them enough to get them off the bbq. But in trying to put the straps away I couldn’t get the *&!@ straps to unroll off the spool. Looks like I’ll have to work at it. At least you offered hope that it’s possible! My thinking is that there may be too many initial wraps around the spool, causing it to jam. ??
I was at home depot today picking up some lumber and I was trying to use these exact straps to tie the lumber down... I could not figure these things out...
Glad it helped. If you haven't already, please like and subscribe so others can find my videos and possibly consider watching a few others to get the algorithm to recommend my channel. Thanks!

You are a great teacher, appreciate you dont edit out mistakes. You helped me figure out how to use it , thx brother
Glad it helped. Apparently if you open it all the way flat, it releases on its own.
this was entertaining lol I was trying to figure it out myself and landed here
Apparently if you open it all the way it releases, but I haven't tried that yet. Lol

Someone said you just have to open it all the way and it'll let you pull it loose.
