The Techno-Theme had that magic part in it (20:42) where I was lying with my GBA and my headphones in bed and just had this looping forever. I got goosebumps everytime! I have forgotton about that tune, and now, like 14 years later, I remember it all of a sudden, giving me a bit of wet eyes... I mean, in 2003, I was 13 years young, the world seemed so endless, now I am 27 and it's just memories... And that track is sticking to those particular memories.

I religiously use this and The Urbz soundtracks for studying and working purposes, it allows me to get into a groove. I cannot believe it took me this long to realize that the uploader is the composer himself. Kudos to creating an iconic soundtrack that stuck with me nearly 20 years later.
Thanks for saying so! Glad you are continuing to enjoy it

Yo, dude. The soundtrack for the gba version of the urbz is probably one of the best video game soundtracks out there. It made the game very memorable for me. This soundtrack is awesome as well. Hope to hear new tracks from you.
+DarklyDreamingDeeDra Thank you! I haven't made time for composing in the last year, since I've been spending all my time programming my next game, but comments like this are encouraging. I'll be sure to post new stuff to this channel.
Bit of trivia, these songs were never in MIDI format--they were written using a tracker and converted directly into the native music format for the hardware. There may be emulator type tools that can access the audio data though...
Ian Stocker awesome! i really love your music and works with the sims bustin out, urbz and the sims 2 (but wanted more music from you on that). And lets not talk about the the sims 2 pets haha its a shame that EA Games doesnt release this games on nintendo virtual console and new Sims game RPG
Hi Ian! Those grooves are fuckin amazing. I want to know, can I use the bass line of the main theme of the game for a song with my band? If there's no possibilities I'll understand.
Best Sims game ever!!!! Even to this day and the soundtrack is ACE!!! I can't believe I remember a lot of these tunes 16 years later. Great Job Ian Stocker

The DS and GBA Sims games were games I strongly remember playing when I was younger. The soundtrack brings back so many memories. They sound like I remember but so much clearer than I thought I would ever hear. It's extremely common among game developers to delete old game source materials after release. Even music is commonly held back in legal red tape even if the original still exists. The GBA/DS Sims games are severely underrated and hold little appeal to new players today. I cannot thank you enough for composing these tracks. Thank you
i absolutely adored the band mini game tracks, the radio tracks, and general bgm. Urbz had amazing music too, i especially like suburbia day/night, oldies, and the fiddle minigame ofc ^^ i really just wish there were more sims games like this, because they really were amazing. urbz, bustin out, sims 2 gba, and sims 2 ds just werent enough.
Wow the legend himself uploads the OST, I'm wanting to do remixes of some of these tracks as they were a big part of my childhood, you did amazing work, pushed the GBA to its sound limits. Thanks for the memories.
You probably got tons of messages from people that are as nostalgic as i am, but thank you so much for these amazing soundtracks for the Sims games and others, it's really a big part of these amazing and also underated games, and also a big part of my childhood and hearing these in a higher quality is magical, thank you!
I love the little jingle at 48:35. It plays when you eat a berry from Heidi Shadows. This game was a small part of my earlier childhood and the soundtrack is very memorable. My brother used to play this a lot on the GBA, along with The Sims 2. Too bad I didn't know about The Urbz when I was younger but I do now.
I have to agree with others who said that 20:42 is something really special. Firstly, I played the crap out of Sims Superstar (probably only person on the planet) so it was a real treat to hear. But secondly, that sound. That incredible synth work where you really kick in the bass, that rich and powerful synth sound was just like Synthwave, except a decade before anyone even had a name for it.
I'm really digging the synthwave genre that has emerged in the last ten years or so, it's taking my favorite instrumentation and applying it to more modern composition techniques.
If there's an underrated composer, it has to be you. All of this OST is stuck in my head forever, and for several good reasons. I hope you're doing well, because you really outdid yourself with this piece of art.
Like omg, you are my childhood hero, I used to play this game, as a small kid, even if i can't read yet, but still, i have not forgot these songs at all!
It's really great to see composers of not so well known work interacting with their fans! This could have been just a pretty meh soundtrack for the GBA version, but you poured quality into it so that it outshines the 'regular' PC! Now you're sharing the source, made great transitions also.... everyone has told you thanks already, but I want to shake you firmly by the hand sir, for your fine work.
Thank you for posting this epic game soundtrack. I still have my GBA as well as both Bustin Out and the Urbz game cartridges in my collection. I'm so glad that I held on to them along with many other gems!
I am not a very materialistic person, I don’t keep too many things from my childhood, because it really wasn’t a great part of my life. One of the few things I’ve made sure to keep with me whenever I move houses is my old gameboy advance, and my busting out cartridge. That game has always stuck with me, for a good reason: the music. I used to just listen to it with my headphones on whenever my family would travel. If you are who you say you are, I would like to thank you.
I just made a video comparing the original sims 1 songs to the remixes you made for this! I gotta say though, the gym song is by far my fave. It was my phone's ringtone back in like, 2009 😂
Honestly, listening to "Create a Sim" and "Store 1" transition so smoothly back-to-back is my favorite section to listen to on repeat with this soundtrack playlist
I’ve been listening to this and the Urbz’s soundtrack for about ten years now. I always come back to them, they’re like doses of nostalgia. I seriously don’t know how you came up with such catchy tunes. It’s my dream and life goal to create an RPG and in the perfect world, I’d have the soundtrack made by you, lol
There are many great options these days for making games. Just put in a bit of time on it each day and eventually it will happen. And who knows, maybe I will return to making soundtracks at some point?
I remember going into the jail and listening to the jail theme made me think there was going to be some long mission inside the jail cuz that theme is just too good to be not used more 😅
I played this game and Urbz when I was 13 for the first time. And now as an adult (27y) I still play them sometimes because of the nostalgia... The soundtrack of both games is so damn good! Thank you for your music!
What surprises me is that even though this was my first the sims game, i definitely played way more The Urbz, cause im noticing i recall almost every track! With this one i remembered the opening, the gym and most of them after 20:00. I think i got this game from a friend so i never played it from the start all by myself but continued from their safe file😂 The stores and minigames are the tracks i recall the most
Hey Ian, I really want to just say thanks. Like holy shit you made me and my sisters childhoods great with your music. I mean hell you made my childhood even greater with your music. Your music was so great I even had the fuckin gym theme as my ring tone for my last year of High School. Just hearing these in full without their GBA compression is just amazing. Thanks Ian, some of the best music you can find on the GBA.
i didn't have any game consoles as a kid so i only got to experience the main games on pc, but now i've got an emulator on my phone and i'm playing thru each of these games' storylines and honestly, the ost is (at least nowadays) quite underrated despite being an actual masterpiece thank u so much for composing and uploading this :)
I remember listening to tracks from this game as a kid and really enjoyed it. Glad to see it still hold up after who knows how long. Also these transitions are just, very good.
Can't believe how catchy that music was. Such nostalgia. I played the Urbz, too. Good job! I love revisiting music from my childhood, they reawaken nice old memories.
Bustin out on gba is, to this day, my favourite sims game. And i can easily say that it is all thanks to the soundtrack. You can feel the love put into every single song.
Something about this game always had a sort of elegiac vibe... When I played it as a kid there were a lot of areas that made me feel uneasy. these tracks are by all means very well produced, but I think you may have unintentionally tapped into some unintended unnerving vibes with the way they combined with the game's natural ambiences and art direction that was somewhat hard to parse. I mean these all fondly and as compliments of course! this game and the Urbz make up a tremendously positive set of memories from my childhood :)
Hey Ian, great to get to know the original designer of these tunes. Urbz was definitely a banger with some of these songs, didn't know there was an earlier version.
thought I would find the soundtrack for this game while in the middle of doing work, it's bringing back the nostalgic feels! my brother and I would often compete with each other on who will progress faster haha
Man that's great to have the opportunity to thank you :) Been listening to the soundtrack of both the sims and urbz games on gba since I was a kid :) Thank you again for the upload, they are the rare few left gba games i own, vastly thanks to the amazing music. Favorite as a kid was Disco, now probably City 2, its always stuck in my head for some reason. Jail theme is better in the sims than the urbz imo, nice transitions btw they were surprising
Ah, my beloved game. This is pretty much the only Sims game I ever loved. Amazing music Quirky charas Freedom and a paintable scooter So. good :D 48:45 Ringtone material haha
I've been playing this treasure again and have loved it every bit as I did as when it first came out. Tragically, the GBA version was never released in Australia, so I had to play this via other means at the time, but I managed to find a boxed copy on eBay a few years ago. I have always loved the music and atmosphere of the game, and I also loved The Urbz and The Sims 2 on DS (the GBA game was a stinker though). Love your work, Ian. A truly unforgettable soundtrack on its own merits, and I loved the renditions of some of the classic The Sims PC tracks as well (which I also still play on occasion). So many elements came together beautifully and the game would not have been as memorable without your music. I look forward to checking out more of your content.
hey ian! i just wanted to let you know that this soundtrack completely got me through writing my dissertation at university in 2019! i still come back to it whenever i need to focus on something. this is for sure my version of those 'lofi beats to study to' playlists. thanks a lot!
you are important
why is nobody talking about that transition from the jail to create-a-sim music???
I was about to post the same thing. That transition was smooth.
So slick
Yes
The transitions are all superb
Maybe because the game has a wide variety of music?
The Techno-Theme had that magic part in it (20:42) where I was lying with my GBA and my headphones in bed and just had this looping forever. I got goosebumps everytime! Ian Stocker the best one imo is definitely the Jail theme/Create-a-sim transition. They're such different moods but the transition is so seamless. 🙌

I mean these all fondly and as compliments of course! this game and the Urbz make up a tremendously positive set of memories from my childhood :)
Thanks for posting this, my favorite GBA game ever
The Create-a-Sim goes so fucking hard, I love it
I remain very proud of that track in particular
classic.
Awesmome! I've been looking for this for a long time. Thanks!
So many little amazing things in here. Can't believe how Store 2 touches my heart in just few seconds 🖤
It was my favorite song from Sims 1 PC.
Ah, my beloved game.
This is pretty much the only Sims game I ever loved.
Amazing music
Quirky charas
Freedom
and a paintable scooter
So. good :D
48:45 Ringtone material haha
Now I understand why the OST of Digimon Racing reminded me so much of my other most favorite GBA OST, which is this one right here.
Store 2 goes so hard 😭😭
The gym soundtrack is one of my fav video game songs ever, loved it as a kid and I still do
23:56 City 2 makes me tear up... I miss playing with my family
21:50 always reminds me of Mr. Sandman 🤭🤭
Store 2 absolutely slaps
i concurr, so does title
Just incredible!!
I grew up being chased by veloci-rooster
This is amazing!
25:38
22:40 means the world to me, so many memories in that furniture store
The soundtrack really saved this game, well done Ian!
It's pretty nostalgic the whole time but I got *really* emotional when it hit create a sim ;;
hey ian! i just wanted to let you know that this soundtrack completely got me through writing my dissertation at university in 2019! i still come back to it whenever i need to focus on something. this is for sure my version of those 'lofi beats to study to' playlists. thanks a lot!
Congrats on finishing your dissertation! Best Wishes
these were the songs of my childhood, thank you man
