As an owner of a 2020 CRV Sport I notice Honda has cut corners with this 2023 Sport. The 2020 has dual exhaust finishers, 12 way power drivers seat, leatherette/fabric seats, 19" rims. The 2023 doesn't get the exhaust finishers, has an 8 way power drivers seat and 18" wheels and the price has jumped from $35000 to $41000. I know vehicle prices have gone up a bit but $6000 increase and now with an interest rate of 6.39% that's crazy and definitely not an upgrade from the 2020.
Not only a downgrade in features but also a downgrade in performance (according to Motortrend at least). What's worst is they're asking $49,000 for the hybrid, at that price point it is competing with their own RDX or even Lexus NX350h...
Best looking CR-V ever if you ask me However, Honda dropped the ball with this by not offering tech and features the competition offers for less/ same price
I agree, I love the redesign, but the Hyundai Tucson is offering a TON, plus that redesign is also great, but for a lot less. If someone was GIVING me one, I'd take the CRV, but if Im paying, which I am, it's hard to beat the value of the Tucson.
Why Honda CRV is outsold by all the other SUVs like Fortuner, Montero, MUX , Everest, even the Isuzu Alterra is that it is FWD while everyone else is at least a RWD or even AWD , I don't see the logic in an SUV being FWD, SUVs should be able to go long distance drives to the beach or in mountain roads, RWD and AWD is the only way to go for SUVs
@@pihermoso11 @pi hermoso you're overestimating what a majority of people use this for, which is for families and cargo space. Most people won't even use it for long trips or to travel to places where they'd need rwd. Fwd is gets better gas milage, has better traction in most weather conditions, takes up less space, and is cheaper to build. Many of those reasons are far more important to people over the perks of rwd. If you need awd, get a different vehicle. Plenty out there. The CRV is for the no frills commuter crowd. Your supposed to flip over the spare tire cover and slot it back in different which makes the load floor flatter with the seats down. This can be seen in other crv reviews
I have to add that that design of the new 2023 CR V is such an improvement over the 2017-2022 model that its price increase makes it worth it. The height difference between the folded rear seats and the cargo area if I’m seeing it correctly are close to a deal breaker. Compare Honda’s price with the competition and it’s close and consider resale value. One Honda dealer told me their new cars in fall of 2023 sell in just 2 days vs 13 days for used. Wow!
I drive the 2007 2.2 (140hp/340Nm@2krpm) diesel, it has now approx. 262k kilometers and i had absolutly no issues with this car, only normal maintenance altough i change oil more often and better quality than honda demands. Now for the next car i think about this new honda or a mazda cx-60 as an alternative because i dont like small turbocharged engines.
When I put this together in a Word doc it was in paragraph form so sorry it looks mushed up. A few thoughts on the new Honda 2023 CRV and this review. POTENTIAL BUYERS READ THIS AND MAKE SURE YOU READ THE LAST PART. SPOILER ALERT. IT, THE FINAL PRICE IS NOT GOOD!
First off a nice review Sam. I like your straightforward approach and calling it as you see, think and feel it. I.e. Your thoughts on pricing I agree! We’ll get to that shortly. Oh and on design the front pillars are moved back and are thinner for better visibility. It is an improvement. After some reading on this vehicle and test driving the EX-L yesterday actually, here are some thoughts. “JUST THE FACTS MAME,” will follow. Don’t ask. Well a famous saying from the old “Dragnet,” TV series of the 50’s! Who is old? I have my memory lol! **Price and options and Why?? A NEED TO KNOW. YUP READERS YOU NEED TO KNOW SOME OF THIS!! Sam you mentioned bank interest loans are up, way up & then mentioned the high price for the “Sport!” Honda most likely I am thinking priced their new CRV in early 2022 at the latest but hate to say it, the prices they came up with are worse than you think. Why might the prices be up? 1. It’s a new design. Prices always go up. 2. Because of the chip shortage we all know, there is a supply demand issue going on with leverage to Honda and dealers to put prices up on new and used sales! Leverage Honda and the dealers. Here is a good example. I was told at the dealership that the 2023 EX-L I drove yesterday had gone up $3000 from the previous year. Wow! Crazy wow! In Canada the list from Honda Canada web site at (Honda.ca) on the 2023 “Sport” is as mentioned $41,490. LAST YEAR the 2022 CRV “Sport,” WAS $38,170 an increase of $3,320.00. On the “EX-L,” it’s $43,390 for the 2023. Last year it was $39,970 a price increase of $3,420. Yikes! *** THERE IS HOPE IN MUDVILLE HOWEVER! Considerations on whether to pay “THE” NEW PRICES. Positives to buy or not: 1. You most likely are getting a reliable vehicle, hence fewer repairs BUT it is the first of the model year so consider that too! 2. Resale will be up there with Toyotas because of Honda’s reliability. If you trade, your trade will be worth more, a lot more than you think. Mine went up $4000 from a year ago. So that offsets the increase some of this new pricing from Honda on their cars. Dealers will tell you they can’t move down on their list prices on the new vehicles. Mostly correct but they sure are milking the chip shortage and all that it entails. They will however have no trouble making a ton of profit selling your trade so don’t settle for their first offer on your trade. LEVERAGE YOU! So leverage them on the new car price, leverage you on your trade. I would even say a greater leverage you because they the dealers are reselling your trade and making $3000-5000 in some cases in profit. I say keep some of that for yourself. No keep a lot. Their profit margin on the new purchase price even at list is marginal and nothing like they will make on your trade. So keep that in mind. Leverage you on your trade value! 3. Lastly if people want or worse need a vehicle we know they will pay. Odds and sods: *The “Sport” in Canada does not come in a hybrid. If you see “Sport Hybrid” on line, it is one sold only in the States. At least that is what my Canadian dealer told me yesterday. *The beautiful Red “CRV EX-L,” with that snazzy white interior YOU CAN’T get in Canada apparently as well. Darn. I would go for that one. The Red only comes in the "Sport," Canadian “non-hybrid,” with black seats though not white. *Hey Sam there are no cooled seats in the “EX-L” either, nor Nav! Go figure. The back seats in the "EX-L" are heated however. * Both the “Sport” and “EX-L” come with a heated steering wheel! Hey it’s Canada eh! NOW SOME MORE PRICING NEWS. GET YOUR PENCILS OUT CLASS. Both of the prices listed at “Honda.ca,” for the 2023 “Sport
Here's what Honda SCREWED UP! -NO PANORAMIC ROOF -NO HUD DISPLAY -NO VENTILATED SEATS -NO FULL DIGITAL DASH -NO HYBRID OPTIONS ON LOWER TRIMS -NO REAR SEAT CONNECTION ON THE EX AND EX-L TRIM AS AN OPTION -NO AMBIENT LIGHTING -NO 360° CAMERA -NO DIGITAL KEY ACCESS ON HIGHER TRIMS THE PRICING IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE FOR THE LACK OF FEATURES. HONDA ALWAYS BEEN A DAY LATE AND A DOLLAR SHORT. HONDA OFFICIALLY LOST IT'S MAGIC.
yep, that's why I didn't hesitate to get the new kia sportage 2023 hybrid sx prestige. Honda actually thinks they can get away with charging their customers 'brand' premium. I mean c'mon they aren't even a luxury segment.
I had a 2021 base awd crv and hated the seat comfort. I bought a 2023 crv sport and I love it. for me, total different feeling when driving. I could have bought a kia or a hyundai but in 6-7 years from now when my CRV will still be great to drive, i strongly believe that my crv will definitely be worth more if I decide to trade it in.
I have the previous CR-V with "leather". You are not missing much as it is actually all vinyl except for a narrow strip of questionable leather down the middle of each seat. The cloth option is better.
Multi Level Cargo floor is available on the 2023, you just needed to lift the cargo floor and it sits flush. Honda wanted to give the option of more height for cargo
This is the best review I have seen to date. I agree with you that Honda fell way short based on what they are charging for this vehicle. I own a 2022 CRV and I am on a relatively short lease and I will not be buying the new model. I am interested in the Hyundai Tuscon based on bang for the bunch and in my opinion, the Hyundai is a much nicer driving vehicle.
My new Mazda CX-5 gave me much more for less! Ventilated seats, power folding mirrors, heated steering wheel, heated back seat, Bose stereo, leather seats, both front seats are power adjustable, Heads-Up Display, and of course heated front seats, in addition to all of the things this CR-V has. Granted I don’t have a hybrid and I’m fine with that. My CX-5 is fun to drive. I paid $33,755 for my GT with premium package. Oh and I have a heated front windshield to the wipers don’t freeze to the window.
Honda is getting way too expensive for what you get. Not to mention that 1.5 liter turbo engine w cvt known to have oil dilution. Current 5th Gen owner here, not going to get a Honda for next car. There are other brands that are more competitive for the price.
I have been waiting for it to be available for sale, but I am a little disappointed. The interior looks much cheaper comparing to how it was shown in pre-release video. It might be just me, but it actually looks very cheap and basic. I will wait till next year, plus Mazda cx70 and cx90 are coming out and they are a strong second alternative to the CR-V.
I really wish they would offer the 2.0T in the CR-V. I "upgraded" to an Acura RDX for that very purpose and it sucks. Totally not worth the upcharge. Wish I could have this exact car with more power under the hood.
I would be remise to add to my comments that follow this one. Sam in your review mentioned if you want a 2023 CRV Hybrid it will come in at $48,890. Again as mentioned in the comments next THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE $1950 FOR FREIGHT IN CANADA. SO, $48890 becomes $52,742,13, Now add GST and PST in most provinces at 12% Total then is: $52,742,13 + $6329.05 (12% taxes) = $59,071.18. Should you buy that "Hybrid" over the CRV "EX-L" which comes in at a total after taxes of $51837 WHICH IS $7234.18 less than the Hybrid. So how many years of driving a the Hybrid will it take in gas savings to recoup that $7234.18. Hard to say cause of varables. Many estinates say six (6) or more years. If you battery dies soon after what is that cost. I have heard everything from $7000 to $15000. I am guessing less then ten thousands. I believe Toyota warrantees their batteries for ten years. I am not sure what it is for Honda. So do you want that Hybrid or not. The horse power is more in it but I am unclear when that kicks in if the electric drive goes to regular gas engine at what speed 30 K?? I think you might like the power of the Hybrid. I would but not at that extra cost. Read my comments next for insight. Go Ni

That's a very sexy CR-V, but the lack of features will hurt this vehicle. Hondas have been a little ugly the last few years, but now the CR-V, the Civic and the new Pilot are beautiful. I wonder what the Touring model will come with.

Honda and Toyota seems to be stuck in 2000s and not paying attention to their competition. Minor exterior/interior updates with outdated tech and just enough power to get around does not cut it anymore in 2022+. How do they expect this thing to compete for 5 years when it already seems lathargic and outdated not to mention CVT. They need to step up their game, put some young innovative people on the executive team that are not afraid to go above and beyond. I have always liked Honda cars and have owned many but can't bring myself to buy them anymore when there are such great offerings from other competitors. New design looks ok but that engine and transmission makes it pretty sad in that price range.
Not digging that front end, no fog lights, needs more inside tech compared to the competition and if you're gonna call it sport, then it should have a bit more horses.
Overall I like the new design but the rear end tail light design and interior infotainment / dashboard leaves a lot to be desired. Not worth 40k+ for the hybrid / sport versions. Might as well just buy a luxury brand at that price.

LAST YEAR the 2022 CRV “Sport,” WAS $38,170 an increase of
$3,320.00.
On the “EX-L,” it’s $43,390 for the 2023. Last year it was $39,970 a price increase of $3,420. Yikes!
*** THERE IS HOPE IN MUDVILLE HOWEVER! Considerations on whether to pay “THE” NEW PRICES.
Positives to buy or not:
Odds and sods:
*The “Sport” in Canada does not come in a hybrid.

-NO REAR SEAT CONNECTION ON THE EX AND EX-L TRIM AS AN OPTION

THE PRICING IS NOT JUSTIFIABLE FOR THE LACK OF FEATURES.
This guy is a scammer
@@taranrandhawa5638 Who are you referring to as a sca!mmer?🤔
I had a 2021 base awd crv and hated the seat comfort. I bought a 2023 crv sport and I love it. for me, total different feeling when driving. I could have bought a kia or a hyundai but in 6-7 years from now when my CRV will still be great to drive, i strongly believe that my crv will definitely be worth more if I decide to trade it in.
I love how they put the tail lights from the Honda Fit on THIS CRV.
8:41 I don't see sport mode. also, in the Honda US website there is only 3 drive modes mentioned - normal, econ, snow
In the US we’re not getting the LX trim
I have the previous CR-V with "leather". You are not missing much as it is actually all vinyl except for a narrow strip of questionable leather down the middle of each seat. The cloth option is better.
How does the interior cabin noise compare to other cars like the Subaru Outback which is relatively quiet?
Much better - Outback is louder
@@SamCarLegion Wow that's great to know. It must then be much quieter than a Honda Civic too, right?
A little bit yes!
@@SamCarLegion thanks, that's helpful!
Eco mode is just a marketing tool I have tested it on my 2014 Civic and it makes little if no difference with gas consumption.
Great Review but especially GREAT shoes!
Glad you like them!
Eyval dadash. Hamishe top bashi. Much love
Hi, thanks for sharing this video.
By any chance, do you have also for the All New Honda Brio 2023?
Does it still have a lane watch camera? If not then Honda owners will find it difficult to adjust since their previous cars had them.
No that went had gone bye bye in all of their cars
Great review and video! Pity about the anti-semitic shoes though lol
For hot-climate countries, Honda for seats should rather Heat Ventilation over Warming.
Multi Level Cargo floor is available on the 2023, you just needed to lift the cargo floor and it sits flush. Honda wanted to give the option of more height for cargo
Sadly, still not quite flush, like the previous generation.
Wish we can combine mazda looks and driving dynamics, honda reliability and praticality, and hyundai tech
Enjoyed the video…love Canadians!
Oh and I have a heated front windshield to the wipers don’t freeze to the window.
why did they make the rear lights go up, makes it look like a Volvo c60
which do you prefer between CRV and RAV4
Me gusto la forma tan honesta de evaluar un producto, me sirve de referencia! Me suscribo a tu canal, Gracias
Hey, thanks for the review! Where did you get that beautiful watch band? I’d love to get it for my Breitling Superocean. Thanks
It’s an Oris watch it comes with it
@@SamCarLegion thanks!
Honda is getting way too expensive for what you get. Not to mention that 1.5 liter turbo engine w cvt known to have oil dilution. Current 5th Gen owner here, not going to get a Honda for next car. There are other brands that are more competitive for the price.
The tail light is getting way too close
Amazing video. As a Honda City 2020 owner, I am planning now to get a CRV.
By the way, love the watch, may I ask which one is it ?
I love my CR-V Sport Hybrid ❤️🔥
I have been waiting for it to be available for sale, but I am a little disappointed. The interior looks much cheaper comparing to how it was shown in pre-release video. It might be just me, but it actually looks very cheap and basic. I will wait till next year, plus Mazda cx70 and cx90 are coming out and they are a strong second alternative to the CR-V.
The old CR-V is as pleasing to look at as the 99 Dodge Grand Caravan. Thank god this looks decent.
I really wish they would offer the 2.0T in the CR-V. I "upgraded" to an Acura RDX for that very purpose and it sucks. Totally not worth the upcharge. Wish I could have this exact car with more power under the hood.
Love the Yeezy sneakers you are wearing ❤
There is still a markup. Insane
Mazda is true winner in this segment , Driving dynamics of Mazda is not comparable with Honda.
It´s a very good modern 2023 modell year Honda SUV.
SO, $48890 becomes $52,742,13, Now add GST and PST in most provinces at 12%
Total then is: $52,742,13 + $6329.05 (12% taxes) = $59,071.18.

What is the color of the car?
Looks so good 👍 Sadly the euro version looks very bad compared to this.
Planning to buy Hyundai tucson 2.0 diesel with 186hp/400torque or Honda crv 1.5 gasoline with 190hp/179torque? What do you think is the best for its price? Tucson is very tempting because of its features & strong engine for its price. While Crv’s new agressive design and ofcourse the reputation of its reliability is it worth it?
i have no idea how you come up with $41k price for this CR-V sport. The actual price is 44k in canada. Please correct me if i am wrong
2024 now
@@SamCarLegion Got you! so price have gone up significantly within 2 years. Lol it’s so crazy. appreciate for reviewing this CR-V.
but is it fuel saving like a hybrid or powerful like electric?
Gimble and a new sound editor please.. that noise when your showing prices😮
What about the Renault Koleos 2023 vs CR-V 2023?
Good and honest review.Thanks
Jack of all trades
Imagine a CRV type R
Okay, love it, but....did they fix the flaw of the Radar Unit's location, therefore it's ease of theft.
Hey Sam. Do you plan on doing a review for the new Dodge Hornet?
That's a very sexy CR-V, but the lack of features will hurt this vehicle. Hondas have been a little ugly the last few years, but now the CR-V, the Civic and the new Pilot are beautiful. I wonder what the Touring model will come with.
A SUV Accord. I love it. Great review 🙌
Isnt it supposed to be Comfortable Runabout Vehicle?
They should put in the Type R motor, and lower this down a few inches. It would be sick.
It's called Acura, RDX
@@RTI_MD yes and no. Same motor but short a bit on power and also, the new CR-V would look pretty sweet lowered some. Can’t get the lowered CR-V look on a RDX.
@@clarks2001 , what are you taking about? The RDX has already been modified to be lowered/slammed, blacked out , flat black, bright colors, big wheels, and also tuned with ktuned and/or JB4 to be more than the out of the box 274 horsepower.
@@chrisrobles2012 in the aftermarket, Yes, you’re correct. But there are folks who want something from the factory that’s been slightly lowered, and 306hp because ya know….warranty. I’d like something daily driver that has some grunt, and some practicality. I have a toy to mod so a reliable daily that’s got some good power, looks and warranty is just fine for me.
Looks like every new Honda is just a Civic in different sizes
The greenhouse glad looks like a Tiguan from the side

Which is faster the 1.5t or the hybrid ?
Transmission?
Honda always plays it safe. That could be good or bad
Black one look so nice 😍
According to Honda crv stand for "Comfortable Runabout Vehicle"
Wish they launch it in India a very big honda fan
@sam car legion. Which do you prefer between the CR-V, Tucson and Sportage?
CR-V
damn, the ride looks clean.
Invest in a mic maybe? You would not need to strain your voice and we could hear you much better.
Edit: Oh, you seem to wear a mic, it is then the mixing that is an issue, voice over is quieter compared eg. to b-roll music.
No 360 camera?
Beautifully redesigned
But with less tech and huge price
I'm waiting for it to arrive in Europe, to make a test drive and order it :)
Longer every year, now is as long as a pilot 2010, so it is like a modern pilot
40K. As long as they keep pushing these prices, I’ll stick to my 2020 one. Shout out to those that can afford paying that much for a Honda though. 😂
What about the spare tire on hybrid versión ???
Overall I like the new design but the rear end tail light design and interior infotainment / dashboard leaves a lot to be desired. Not worth 40k+ for the hybrid / sport versions. Might as well just buy a luxury brand at that price.
