  • As promised a continuation of previous Video showing scenes of the 60's.This Video/Slideshow is produced from original photographs from the 70's not seen before. A must for those who lived or worked there at that time if they want to reminisce. I know its not so long ago but I would suspect there have been many changes.

Thank you for these pics. I was born in '63, so even the first pic of Temple St reminds me of when I would catch a bus home from school on Lower Temple St, also shown.

Oh I want to go back in time, I know it had it’s scruffy parts but I don’t like the new city centre, it’s soulless.

Beautiful, but instead of cleaning these buildings, some council idiots had to put their names on them by demolishing and turning it into just another concrete euro city!!

A nice pic of the New Repertory Theatre, also showing just to the left of it a roof section of Bingley Hall, a nice venue that a few years after this was taken, mysteriously burnt down, only to be replaced by the NIA. As for the Rep, now over 50 years old, the council may just come along and demolish it, building more modern, unsightly stuff. The memorial arches to the Reps' left are now gone, replaced by an open Centenary Square, and the new Central Library has now been built on the site of the car park just above the fountain, and even that has now been redeveloped. At least the blocks of flats in the background are still there, mostly now privately owned as no longer council properties. As for the small building shown in the middle on the right-hand side of the pic, I can not remember what that was, but that too has gone, now replaced by the City Center Gardens. I have no idea what the thought behind this "garden" was. Probably just to put a bit of greenery into the city center...It needs it.
