Just got the R6ii and this was super useful, I upgraded from a 5d mkii, and there is a learning curve with all the new features. thank you for your help! - Another note about STM vs USM: USM motors are louder, and in a quiet scene with sensitive microphone; this may be noticeable in your audio playback.
Thanks for the comment! Did you try the USM lenses from the RF lineup? You'll be surprised how silent they are, compared to the older EF USM lenses.
@@VideoMakerTwist yeah, I have the 24 -105 f4L and I barely hear anything, so yeah, I think it may be negligible these days
I had even more insane upgrade. My previous camera us from the year 2005. The very first FF camera from Canon. Aaaaand last friday an R6ii was unboxed 😅

Hey I really enjoy your content on Canon gear! Thanks! I also like your setup with the white rokits and the acoustic panels. I wonder what you think about the R7 and 18-35 (+adapter) for someone who cannot justify the price of the R6MK2. Based on my research they mostly differ in the sensor size.
Thanks a lot! I assume the 18-35mm lens is from Sigma? It's a good choice for sure. However, if you want the fastest response from your lens when focusing or eye tracking, especially if you buy the Canon R7, then I would look at a native lens from Canon. If you're shooting photos mainly, having the Sigma is great, but if you shoot video too, I think a Canon lens is a better choice.

I am rewatching this video, as I've recently got the Canon R6 II with the zoom lens 24-105mm F4 USM ... and the problem I have is it is too front heavy for the gimbal I have and cannot stabilise it properly. And the L USM lenses by canon are all very long and heavy (and very expensive) even the prime lenses ... so the 35mm 1.8 STM lens was really the perfect choice for me, as it is lighter and I also would like to get near to the subjects .... but a slow or unreliable AF can be a deterrent. The lens choice with canon is really limited.

@@VideoMakerTwist thanks for the input ... in my gimbal it is more a question of space in the rear, and the camera cannot tilt up and down
I am using the r6 mkII and focus speed adjustment is enabled using an adapter and a Sigma Art lens

I am having very hard times in video, i always have to half press the shutter button to keep focus moving on the subject that i am shooting, shouldnt the camera do it by itself ?

You set in movie, but does it transfer to stills as well?
For stills the focus speed is fast for both types of lenses (STM and USM).
Not true that it only works for RF lenses. It works with newer EF lenses. It’s enabled on my R6ii with EF 24-70Lii on canon EF/EOS-R adapter
That is interesting and very valuable info! In the video I was testing the 17-40L f4 with the adapter and it wasn't compatible, maybe the lens is too old.
@@VideoMakerTwistyes. All my EF L series lenses is newer versions (mark 2 and up) and they all work. Just older EF lenses doesn’t work. Thanks for the video though. I did the same setting when I got the camera. The AF is blazing fast and smooth
Can anyone help on how to focus on two people at once using same camera and same lens?
If they are relatively at the same distance to the camera, put something in the middle of them and focus on that. You can also have a higher f-stop for more depth of field.
Is there any way to turn off continuous focus on R6Mkii? I can’t see it on the menu, and it’s draining my battery so bad
Of course. Do you mean while in photo mode or video mode?

While in photo mode, just go to AF in the Menu, enter AF Operation and choose One Shot (right now it could be on Servo). That should solve your problem. If not, come back here and we'll try something else.
If in photo mode it's trying to focus constantly then it has nothing to do with servo AF (had the same problem the other day with my R8). In the AF menu, page 3, there's an option called "Preview AF", make sure it's disabled, or it will be focusing at all times during photo mode

Why you use Switching Tracked Subjects 0 ?
When I usually record my videos, I just want to make sure that after the camera locks in on my face or my eye, it stays like that for the whole recording. I don't want it to accidentally switch to another subject and start tracking it.

You need to experiment and see what works for you.
I thought that those who make videos and have good taste appreciate a longer focus transition time.
I feel what you're saying and you are right, but there are different types of video content. On RUclips, creators who talk about products and show them to the camera, they often need to switch focus from their face to the product they're showing.
That transition should be fast, otherwise the viewer might get bored. If the viewer is there for the product, he/she doesn't care about smooth cinematic transitions. If the viewer is there for a cinematic scene, it makes total sense to have smooth, well planed transitions.
Did it ever occurred to you that slower is much more desirable for video focus and logically has much more steps than faster focusing?
It truly depends on what you want and need. If you're filming sports, you want the fastest autofocus speed. This also applies to content creators who move a lot in the frame, RUclipsrs showing products in front of the camera and need to focus on the objects fast. On the other hand, for movies, documentaries, I agree 100% with what you said, slower is better.
But too fast make it ugly not cinematic
