I'm always in awe of the 777. Due to special circumstances, I was able to fly in first-class on an American Airlines 777 from Miami to London. When I boarded, the flight attendant asked me if I want to meet the Captain and see the cockpit. It was amazing. One of the funniest, strangest things was this flight was a day or 2 after an iOS update for the iPhone. The update was the one let you use the volume button to take a picture instead of touching the screen. All 3 pilots noticed and were like "Wow! How'd you do that? Can you show us?" I'm thinking there are a million buttons on this multi-million dollar airline that these guys fly and that they want me to teach them about their phones! I don't think I will ever forget talking with them.
The 777 was probably the last REAL Boeing product ever and the first Boeing plane to rely on fly-by-wire systems. It's the last plane designed by a once formidable engineering team and sadly marks the end of an era for Boeing... I guess after about 25 years of active service, the operational record of the 777 speaks volumes. This is one robust, safe and well designed machine...
Love the -200LR, i was amazed and anxious when Aeromexico got Triple 7’s but didn’t have a chance to fly one. One of my goals to fly on it, great vid 👍🏼
The First 777 Ever built was N7771 which became B-HNL (Preserved in Pinal Airpark since 2018), not N777UA. N777UA is the first Production 777 Ever built.
The oldest 777 I flew on was B-HNL, which was the first 777 ever built, as flight CX511 FUK>TPE>HKG in 2014. In second place was B-HNC (1996 built), flew it in 2016 as flight CX419 ICN>HKG. In third place was B-HND (1996 built), flew it twice in 2014, first as CX510 HKG>TPE>FUK, then three months later as CX521 NRT>HKG. The oldest -300 I have flown on is 4th in my ranking, which was a 1998 built B-HNF as CX451 TPE>HKG in 2018. Ironically, the next flight after that one, which occurred just three days afterwards, was the newest 777 I have ever flown on, a 2015-built -300ER, B-HNR, as CX101 HKG>SYD.
I fell in love with the triple 7 back in 2016 ORD-DFW (connections to la Aurora, GUA, Guatemala) and haven’t flown it since. But I will get to fly my #1 favorite aircraft of all time soon this July..
I've always liked the Triple Seven, ever since reading the book and watching the Channel 4 series; ""21st Century Jet", which followed and chronicled the design, development of the new Boeing wide body. The Triple Seven was, I believe, the first airliner to be built using a system called 'design/build', so people had the chance to be integral member of "The Wing Team" or the "Vertical Stabiliser Team" and there were few or no paper drawings. Everything was 'drawn' on the computer, with \integration days', where no new drawings were possible, because the computer was resolving all existing work, with everything else. This meant that if, somehow, a 15cm duct had to divert round a 2cm cableform as it went through a section, the conflict could easily be resolved before they got anywhere near creating a problem in 'real life'. The Triple Seven was, I believe, the first airliner (twin) to receive its 240 minute ETOPS (Engines Turn or People Swim) certification before it entered service. The first two production aeroplanes - a United and a BA airframe each - flew almost non stop, from city, to city, country to country for weeks, until they had amassed enough hours. They were flown by UA and BA crews, with Boeing staff and engineers on board, but if there was something wrong, they could only refer to their own Technical Support teams at their own bases. One of them had a problem when the validity of their destinations database expired in Hawaii and required updating. With Boeing staff who had written the software actually on board, the crew had to refer to UA Techs in SFO to talk them through the remote update. The Triple Seven rocks.
I normally fly Cathay Pacific and mostly on 777. Sadly they decided that 9 seats across was too comfortable for a 14 hour flight so they made it 10 across. It always seemed like such a modern plane, and then I watched this video.
The B777 is my favourite aircraft, I used to fly on Malaysia Airlines' B777s before they were retired few years back, and since then I've been flying mostly A330s and B737s. Miss flying those good old B772s!
The British Airways 777’s mentioned in this video have actually all been retired now. G-ZZZA, B, and C were the only 3 remaining 777-200’s which BA owned at the start of the year and we’re all retired by March sadly. The registrations of British Airways aircraft would be a cool video in itself actually, they’re all hidden acronyms.
Thomas Mortimore Ah I see, I thought A and B both went on the 19th of March. I suspect they won’t fly passengers again though even once passenger demand finally picks up - I know the cabins were fairly dated and they now they have brand new 787-10’s which they’ll be eager to use.
777 fleet is currently my fav fleet. Lil trivia, PIA was the first carrier to operate all three variants of the 777. They were the launch customer for the 200 LR series I think? Some of it's 777s getting little old now at around 12 years or so. I hope they purchase 777x
the B-777 was one of the nicest Boeing jets i flew from the B-727 on up and thru the B-757/767 as well as the B-747 that I flew during my long career as a pilot when I retired from UAL as a Capt about 15 years ago. i miss that forward facing window seat to this day...over and out.
Hi, didn't mention anything about -200LR of which PIA is its first operator and is in service to date (14 years and counting), flying national carrier's long haul Pakistan-North America route
I love B767 but today B777 is my favorite comercial plane(I like B787 and A350 too!), i would love to see Boeing build the B777-10! My friend, with Airbus making the A321LR/XLR and new version of A350(ULR, 2000), don't you think Boeing should make the same with B787 and B777x? I mean an ER/LR version with MTOW+ of 787 an 777? On the new B777-9 perhaps a full carbon fiber body, not just the wings, like the A350. Please make a video?
Lots of great flights on Air France and British Airways 777s. Somehow I always luck out and get undersold flights, taking the red eye to Europe and having no the whole row to yourself is an outstanding way to fly. Have a cocktail, sleep for a bit, wake up in time for breakfast and arrive rested, fed, and ready to go.
Uvuvuevuevue Enyetuenuevue Ugwemugbem Osas actually to get specific it was the FAA who let dual jets to fly over 2 hours away from an active airport. An old rule that was more about piston engines. Engines became more reliable so they slowly changed the rules.
Flew the Guam - HNL. on the 200. It was like stepping back into my childhood. Cloth seats, late 90s style first-class, ceiling screens, premade sandwiches with the old united logo, and no idea on the eta landing. If I remember right the config was 3x5x3 in coach. Not fun being in the middle for 8 hours with two big guys for seatmates. But somehow made it work.
What year was this? The oldest first class seats still flying on these aircraft were installed in 2011, and but looked out of date from the very 1st date of install. They’re 8-across, half rear facing. You wouldn’t be the only one who mistook these seats as originals from 1994, but nope, 2011 😂
@@lukethompson5558 2016! Wow, it felt like a time warp. I was in Coach, They made no effort. I only glanced at 1st class on deboarding in Guam. They looked like something from 2001.
I flew the 777-300ER a couple of times trans pacific and then also United's 777-200. I liked the 300 more, but it probably also had something to with the airline's config too. United's was just old and the 3-4-3 config they had just doesn't work as well for comfort, especially for those sitting in the aisle.
I mean, who doesn't love an aircraft which can serve both short haul and long haul routes? The 777 and A350 are perfect example of the aircraft that I have described above.
Yes my favourite plane is B777. I had been flown on United, Thai Airways, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines, Philippines Airlines, EVA Air, Asiana and ANA

The -200 ER is only available with GE90, the Trent was only available on first generation -200, the less produced version. This is why RR isn't the most popular 777 engine manufacturer
I like the B777 a lot. It has a clean looking cockpit, a very aerodynamic looking shape which probably flies as good as it looks, massive engines and is a true work horse I think. I've flown a -200 once in economy. Was quite loud and not as comfortable as the a330. But I still think it's a good aircraft design with a solid safety record. Could benefit from a sound absorbing interior maybe.
I'm definitely a 777 fanboy. Just checked my flight diary and note I've clocked a total of 120 flights on the 777-300ER in the past several years. 99% of my flights have been with Emirates so can't wait until the 777-X comes into the fleet. A couple of times I flew BA 777 business class with that backwards-facing seating arrangement pretty poor I must say. Although flying Emirates business many times the 777 seating is OK (First class is awesome with that whole suite thing). But by far I liked the Korean Air business class on the 777 which is very similar to the Emirates A380 business class where you get that little area to yourself.
I too love the 777-300ER. Philippine Airlines has it and i took my profile picture on a 777 of PAL registered RP-C7774 during My intern days. And my memorbale flight to Singapore by RP-C7777
The 777 used to be my favorite but as the A350 and 787 get more popular, it's hard to enjoy the 777. Altho the GE-90 engines are powerful, the plane is loud, with less humid air, and the increasingly popular 3-4-3 layout makes it more cramped. It's just not as charming as it used to be
B777's I love em. I find that they are very capable aircraft and they have the biggest engine of any aircraft too. Looking forward to flying in the new model and also the dc10 even though it's out of service wish had that chance and also the queen of the sky 747 looking forward to it
@@77l96 Strange I have always thought its the opposite maybe its some youtube video saying A350 was inspired by 787 Okay now I see its probally not a true fact
It is more tricky, the 350-1000 is competing with 777-200 and 777-300, when the A350-900 is competing with 787-10. The A330 is competing with 787-9 and 787-8.
You mentioned every variant of the 777 in the video and told how old it was except for the 200 LR.... Is it because Pakistan International Airlines was the launch customer for the 200LR version which also held the record for the longest non stop flight of 22 hours ? A third wold country maybe thats why no mention...

Timothy that's indeed a great experience. God bless you
That’s pretty cool! Not often going to find an invite to the cockpit, depends on the region though.
The 777-300ER looks so cool. The 777 is a relatively young program, compared to most other aircraft types.

Air China has many old 777s, surprised they were not mentioned.
As well as billions of old Chinese citizens.
Love the 777 my favourite boeing plane
Mmh Im just asking the A330 is the 777 competior and the 787 is the A350 competior?
@@77l96 Strange I have always thought its the opposite maybe its some youtube video saying A350 was inspired by 787 Okay now I see its probally not a true fact
@@77l96 Well good to note and when a Top 10 video says
The A350 Is the Airbus of the 787
Then you will probally call them out
It is more tricky, the 350-1000 is competing with 777-200 and 777-300, when the A350-900 is competing with 787-10. The A330 is competing with 787-9 and 787-8.
United uses 777-200 from SFO to LHR and CDG too.
Can someone how old is the United 777-200 registered as N69020?
I am a big fan of it
I love the plane! A pity that SAA passed them over for the A340
You mentioned every variant of the 777 in the video and told how old it was except for the 200 LR.... Is it because Pakistan International Airlines was the launch customer for the 200LR version which also held the record for the longest non stop flight of 22 hours ? A third wold country maybe thats why no mention...
in aviation:Safety comes first.
I’m always in on the 777 I commanded nearly 1 half of my flights on this airplane for delta airlines
They really need to get rid of these old -200 and replace them with the 787-8 or -9!
