I personally think that's an absolutely ridiculous concept and comment to make. I play retro games almost exclusively through emulation and have lost a lot of interest in modern games. Someone who insists on original hardware and game media is no more of a "real retrogamer" than I am. They're just more of a "collector" than me. I honestly don't mind the label of retro gaming at all since for me it's mostly about nostalgia or discovering games from the past that I didn't get to experience the first time around. Also as you mentioned through emulation we can actually often times improve performance over the original hardware. It's a win-win as far as I'm concerned.
Emulation is wonderful, no fake gamer at all, emulation preserves the gaming and consoles digitally. Nothing wrong with it. I do own a console and I think nothing beats original hardware, but still play emulators much more because its easier to setup and you can increase the resolution, use different controllers and now they even have retroachievements
I don't know what makes you a real or fake Retro gamer (since that won't matter much)
But I do prefer emulation since hardware stuff is expensive
Hey, it's good to have an option, right?
@@JustJamie1983 I don't know
For those who likes to labels themselves I guess?

Exactly how I think too. Like I say. Of this day and age and especially FPGA emulation. You really can see minimal difference in most cases.
