- One of my favorite videos from the past has got to be my previous experience building the Backrooms in Non-Euclidean Minecraft. This time around, however, I want to do the source material justice. Taking pages from Kane Pixel's book, adding different layers, monsters, a wide variety of puzzles, tricks, and more are to come. Enjoy this behind-the-scenes look into the project!

"All of this... All of this...*Ever-suffering sigh* All of this is done by hand."
As someone who is scared by the complexity of WorldEdit, I know how big and somewhat repetitive builds can quickly become self-torture. You know it's draining your sanity, but at the same time you WANT to finish it.
honestly the only worldedit command i use it //copy and //paste just to put down walls. on another note HOW ARE YOU STILL SANE
wait wtf "all done by hand" sure they dont use world edit but ur kidding me 8:53 ???? that chat message does not look like its by hand

As a fun, thematic little trick, you can use the big rooms or different modules and have out of reach "exits" that no portal ever reach. A high up walkway with a green exit glow, but no portal ever reaches it, making people think they can get to it somehow, but only pass it and fall deeper in.
Just a thought.
Noooo he liked it how could you bring this apon us. P.s this is a joke I like the idea
Also you know he's releasing this right?
Found satan
This is great! It would be awesome if the Poolrooms seamlessly integrate into the backrooms and suddenly you're just IN the next level
Maybe you just walk into a room that has a door in it, and when you walk into that door room you can't go back into level 0 (one-way portal). So your only choice is to open that door and head into the pool rooms where there would be another transition of sorts into level 0.
There could also just be the fire exit doors, since they're canonical and could be added in pretty easily.
@@FlooferLand that would work well too
no, make the first seven levels and when you get to the ocean one make a opening at the bottom in some random area that is surrounded by tiles and make it go down until you drop through the roof of the poolrooms. Obviously add all different versions of the poolrooms otherwise you aren’t original at all. If you need to know about the entrances and exits without looking at the wiki here you go
Exits:
Certain locations under the water of Level 7 can lead one to this level;
Submerged areas of Level -132 may lead to Level 37;
Curved tunnels in Level 67 often seamlessly lead to tunnels in this level;
Noclipping through certain pools in Level 997 will lead one to this level, with it being more common in pools with ceramic tiles;
Entrances to Level 37 may be found in the Quaoar and Haumea areas of Level 30.
Exits:
Wading through the dark, dingy areas of this level may lead one to Level 37.1, a sublevel of Level 37, typically without one taking notice;
Immersing in the water of the level has a rare chance of reemerging in the pools of Level -33 or Level -34;
Long corridors in Level 37 may rarely lead to the workrooms of Level 4;
Enclosed tunnels in this level may lead one to Level 43;
Certain submerged areas of the level may lead to Level 67 or Level -132, in conjunction with the entrances.
Poolrooms are the same thing
@Rostitan it would be cool though
A cool thing you could do is make rooms that feel eerily similar to other rooms to make you feel like you've been there before, but something is always different like different exits or different pillars
just letting you know, you can get "light blocks" in minecraft which are invisible light sources intended for builders, if i remember correctly the command is something like "/give @s light_block 64 15" pretty sure thats the bedrock version of the command it might be slightly different on java i dont really wanna check java rn, the "15" is the light level 15 is the brightest which might not work the best for the backrooms you might wanna use a darker one like 7 or something idk
The immersive portals mod actually has compatibility with the gravity mod, so I think it’d be really cool if you made some portals that change your gravity!
Nick, this is insane and I'm super excited to see where this takes the channel. I love The Backrooms as a concept, it's so cool and weird, and somewhat horrifying with all the things(enemies? Hostile creatures?) in it that take the whole "uncanny valley" and turn it up to 12. All the enemies that look or sound like humans only to be something that wants to kill us is so cool from a horror perspective.
I love how this build seems so natural when you're walking around the place, you can't tell where a portal is, it just looks like one massive and complex build. It looks super cool and I can't wait to see the other levels of The Backrooms, as well as see where this goes in the future!
i personally prefer the "you are completely alone" backrooms
*no entities*
@@imdliamdragonlucha6827 thats level 0, which he is currently building
@@unimox3343 i may watch it later, got distracted
what are they in back of???? THESE ARE THE DETAILS WE NEED TO KNOW.
What else? The Frontrooms!
@@ninjashoe2158 but what about the middlerooms?
@Whatnot Animations They are in-between the two, so the backrooms are behind the middlerooms too. Just not as much as the Frontrooms.
@@ninjashoe2158 oh my god, you are a GENIUS!
So i assume that your not familiar with the backrooms? The back rooms are a place that exists in between reality.
Actually, I wonder if changing the orientation of the portals changes the gravity of the player. If thats the case, you could make that extremely tall room in section 6 a "House of Stairs" situation with tons of stairways leading to the top or reversing the progress the player has made.
That would be cool as heck!
Edit: Grammar
It doesn't change the player's gravity by default, but there is a gravity mod that has compat with immersive portals that implements that functionality. IIRC you do need to manually set each portal to change gravity though which gets annoying quickly
God, gravity mod and pekhui for the Backrooms would be a special flavor of hell. Maybe one layer/level of this can do that to the Nth degree 😂
This project is wild, and seems to be a lot of fun to create. You have all my support, as I'm eager to see what's next
Honestly, I'm loving this. All it needs is possibly more rooms used in the next levels and a train or two crashing through the walls.
I, like you, have decided to start on a backrooms project because I thought it would be interesting to see how it pans outand to see what I'm capable of. However, I'm not using mods, only datapacks (i'm much better at commands/datapacks than building). You have a very cool take on it! I opted for procedurally generated rooms, but I don't want to make the rooms too stale in design (since it's hard to generate connected rooms with just Minecraft commands and implement things that make it interesting, such as verticality and abnormal features). Great work :)
Pleeease make a sequel to this! I've watched this like every day and I want to see more!
I remember originally watching those vids right when they came out interested in the idea that I haven’t heard of before coming from the portal vids and I just came back to the channels after searching for it and I’m really impressed by how much it’s improved
I have an idea for the very tall room (and you don't have to use it for that room, but you can for other rooms!) put the ceiling lights on the floor to not only light it up, but disorient the person who walks in. The room will seem to have flipped! If you don't like this idea, that's fine ^^
Where’s the next videos?
I’m pretty sure there’s a gravity changing mod compatible with immersive portals. That, alongside pehkui (size changing immersive portals compatible mod) could create a really interesting experience in later levels!
You should make some claustrophobic crawl spaces were you’re just stuck crawling for a while and can just as easily get lost
these tips on how to make the portal lighting consistent are gonna be SO helpful to us omg
Wow, I didn't realize how much was involved with perfecting the lighting when working with the immersive portals. Pretty cool!
I'm not familiar at all with any backrooms stuff, but after seeing you make that one really tall room I think it would be cool to have at least one more module that plays with verticality a lot
Woah, i had never tought of replicating the light levels in order to mask the portals, actual genius idea man.
also can't wait to see more content about this build, big fan of the portals and the backrooms concept in general, all in all great video!
i will set five alarms to be able to get up and watch this, idc if im tired, i need to see this cool video made by the one and only csx42 (Nick), i'm also really amazed from on how it is coming out, im dying to see what comes next on this channel Nick!
This is looking absolutely amazing, wonderful job on the backrooms I love the way you’ve used the portals and stuff!
you can automate part of this. I found this out using structure blocks, making small layouts, and then placing a few blocks, a structure block, specifying structure, and then pasting. then I used a mod that basically reduces the resolution of objects that are at a certain distance away by replacing their textures with something easier to render. it allows the game to run easier at the cost of making open spaces look worse than you want to. In exchange I’ve built up a genuinely massive Backrooms maze, spanning around 200,000 blocks (4000x5000) with the help of this automation. If it weren’t for structure blocks, I’d have quit months ago.
Those were better times, when we had two years to do basically whatever we wanted, basking in laziness in what felt like the years leading up to a zombie apocalypse
With levels I think instead of just adding a noclip zone or going through a glowing portal you should make it seamless, like you go up a staircase, just a change of room (not 1 way) or going down a hole like Kane. Also it’d be cool to make malls or stuff like that instead of using levels from the wiki (you can still put the poolrooms cause it’s not always a backrooms level.) I just think it’s a good idea to make it like complex found footage (steam game)
Loved the video, so here's 2 tips to make it more true to the original source:
1: No-Clipping; As in walls, floors, ceilings being "fake/walk-through" to simulate noclipping into other rooms or even levels as part of transitions.
2: Decoration; Sparse decoration, such as desks, computers, chairs, crumpled up papers, etc, will add to the experience, and give it that characteristic sense of dread and uncanniness the backrooms have. Plus, it'll help you when you tackle further levels, that may have more/different furniture.
Suggestion: Remodel the Warden to be the Backrooms entity seen in Kane Pixel's series since they have similar behavior
That would be great!
The non Euclidean aspect of this build is actually lore correct with the concept of the original Level 0
This is awesome man!
I have a PC that supports bedrock ray tracing so I’ve been dabbling in making a few Backrooms scenes. I used yellow light blocks, the light brown mushroom blocks for the walls and brown mushroom blocks for the carpet. That, illuminated by the yellow lights makes the most accurate Minecraft Backrooms scene I’ve seen so far. I want to find a resource pack that makes the actual wallpaper patterns so I can have the best looking Minecraft Backrooms on the internet
Probably
You can also use command blocks to teleport the player, so you don't necessarily need portals if you don't have access to them.
Hi
If someone were to install a backrooms map with portals using a world file, would the portals (being entities) still be there? I made a map myself that even though I’m biased, feels pretty good, so I want to share it around just not sure how.
I’m super looking forward to the next video and completed project!
i would assume so, the portals themselves are entities so i dont see why it wouldn't but who knows
entities are saved in world files
awesome work!! cant wait for a download, keep it up!
I've been working on my own Backrooms map for fun on my PS4. Because I haven't been able to use any mods, I've had to build everything by hand and it has been so tedious, but that's kind of the fun of building a Backrooms map by hand. I can easily just throw on an album and just build different rooms and levels while I listen to music (and it's a great way to listen to lots of new music too). I've mostly done the yellow rooms, but I built one poolrooms area. The map overall is definitely inspired by Kane Pixels' Backrooms, and I'm trying to recreate a few of the most iconic areas like the Pitfalls room and the Async control room. I'll look forward to future updates (just subbed) and maybe I might take some inspiration from your rooms for my map lol
My third time watching this video since it came out and I'm still impressed by the seamlessness. Can't wait for the next one!
Oh god the faded sounding music when you first got in
This is absolutely amazing! Well done!
I knew your voice seemed familiar, glad to see your content is back in my recommendations!
Entity Ideas:
If you ever do it with entities, you should add at least 3 distinct entities. (Bacterias -from Kane Pixel's series, Hounds, and Skin Stealers -from the og backrooms wiki )
And I assume you'd be putting people in it, you should do multiple, of course the amount would be based off of how big the map is because I have no idea how many modules you're doing. -- The multiple players could be used to lure players into approaching Skin Stealers which would switch to the skin of their last killed player.
Bacterias would be like the Apex Predator of the space, just a bit slower than the average human and quite deadly, while hounds would be stunned if you look at them, but be quite fast and violent.
No idea how you'd do this, but I am sure there's some mods out there or person willing to do some command blocks if you'd need help with that kind of stuff.
Level 0 has no entities
It does.
@@Vorcupine no, all of them arent canon, the canon Lobby hasnt got any entities, or atleast they arent found
Theres a "light block" you can get from commands, and its invisible unless you are holding it + its completely intangible, might help you with lighting and stuff for portals and such
This needs more attention! Great video!
technically you don't need variety. a lot of the backrooms is the same, so if there's more variety there's a less sense of being lost. simple: make less rooms that are very similar and hard to tell when you enter, when you exit, and if youve seen it before
this is the coolest thing I've seen in awhile, I always thought if someone would make the backrooms in minecraft! can't wait to see more vids so you've earned yourself a subscribe button :)
I have no words. This is more than just a maze map, this a fully fledged puzzle game with Minecraft as an engine. I was going to make my own version, but now that I've seen this I know I'll never be satisfied with my own creation. I'll be much happier by supporting your endeavors. +Sub
the weird hallway room thing was genius
Wow, I have never seen so much work put into Minecraft lighting before
You could use light blocks to help blend room lighting together with portals. They were recently added to Java edition and are completely invisible and aren’t solid
you should add an exit sign for wood signs, because we often finds exit sign in the backrooms that leads to more maze.
We need more!!, I love this (even though the backrooms might be considered old to some people)
while not a fan of the modern backrooms, this project is really cool!!
i love map and i love this progression thing you add it way better then last time
yoooo this is awesome you just got a new subscriber cant wait to see more of this!!!!
this is AWESOME so far, and i feel it really does capture the essence of the first level of the backrooms while still adding variety. id love to help ya out with level transitions. i can share a multitude of ideas and such as well. the Backrooms as a concept is super awesome, and im even making my own canon of it called the Backstages (if you're interested, i could talk about it with ya as well). heck, if need be, i can also help with the resource pack to add more custom textures and models (such as tables, equipment, etc.) if u are interested, lemme know.
I hope you eventually add the Manilla room and level 1 and 2! Great job!
"if you subscribe right now" the button glows, what? 0:36
congrats on 150k :)
for the poolrooms, to enter, you could make it so you have to find a water pool maybe which teleports you to the poolrooms
Hey! Have you considered using lighting blocks for the bigger rooms, so you can do some lighting fixes, aswell as for better transitions? The “light” blocks help ALOT
I Love Your Non-Eulidion Videos Bc i watch them when im bored
Still think this is the best version of the backrooms I've seen in minecraft
It would be cool if you added falling blocks (with no gravity) that looked like the normal blocks so you could "noclip" through them. The fact that their lighting would be slightly off would actually fit with the backrooms lore of how places you can noclip have slightly different lighting.
i used the code function in the free minecraft education edition to procedurally generate the backrooms.. i didnt make a backup and made the walls out of stripped birch wood.. the fire took care of it pretty fast. if that wasnt enough i lost the code because it was a wack version of mc edu. rip 7 hours of work.
This is super cool!
Nick, you should add a little crack in the wall, like a gap to look through, i saw it in a kane pixels video, use immersive portals to make it seem infinite like going down the corridor. there is a trick to do that but i forgot how to, hope this comes to your map, just a random idea i came up with, tell me if you think its a good one!! (keep making these backrooms videos, i really enjoy watching them)
You should add ‘duplicate rooms’ which are copy pasted rooms but with different portals and very small differences such as wall height, hallway length, or even room size.
Edit: also transitions between levels should be walking into a dark room and seamlessly entering another dark room in the next level
1. already doin that
2. last thing i want is the transitions to be obvious. takes away from the hidden progression
There's just this whole build that you've done and I've somehow missed all of it 😮❤
this is so cool and i was just thinking about how i wanted to play a minecraft backrooms map lol
This is royally cool. I cannot wait to see the outcome of it all.
this seems really nice! a tip tho is that you can use sea lanterns instead of redstone lamps (so that you dont use redstone blocks)
Iloved this video I have been recently doing the same thing in vanilla, so I don't have access to the portals, but I have serious respect for building it block by block👍. I did use I little world edit. I hope you keep going😀.
It would be cool if on some of the later levels you did some orientation switching stuff, like walking on the walls of a fake version of a previous room
Can't wait for the minecraft remakes of Kane Pixels' series once this is finished and releases!
Whenever I get blindness from a warden that is within breathing distance, I half expect whenever the blindness goes away I’ll be in the back rooms.
I think you should have Module 10 be a combination of all the previous modules. It could be really chaotic, for the better!
I may or may not have forgotten that the premiere was on...
And joined as soon as it finished!
Good job me 👏
this looks awesome
Me and some other people have began making the backrooms in Minecraft as well, and damn it's fun to make the most confusing shit possible.
I remember this texture pack i used it once to make a backrooms map and my friends had some fun
Pls bring back the immersive railloading survival series
I would love to see how all of these looks without the resource pack
Wowo this is insane I love it! Make more more more!
this inspired me to make make my own. thank you csx42!!!
I'm also building my own version of the backrooms in Minecraft, and I'm gonna build multiple levels from the backrooms too. I'm basing it off of the wikidot version of the backrooms, and I'm building it in vanilla Minecraft. No texture packs, no mods. All I'm using is the beta features for 1.20 since the bamboo mosaic is perfect for the walls
I can not wait to see this when it’s finshed cause it looks S O good
I remember when this channel was at 1k subs it's been so long since I've visited this channel omg it has grown so much
Make sure not to watch this before going to bed, unless being in the backrooms for eternity is on your bucket list.
I know every corner of this map now. I am not the same person as I was when I went to bed. The backrooms feel even more uncomfortably familiar after this experience.
its been 2 months since any minecraft content missed it
I wonder how it looks like with shaders, feel like this could become the best backrooms experience
Dude, this is awesome.
I am 82% excited, 8% concerned and 50000% scared.
you should use the light block (you can get it with the command /give @s light[level=]) to make the portal lighting better
this guy is very cool, take care, Csx42.
(hey just letting you know that it's actually possible to add dimensions in vanilla minecraft, so if you wanted to somehow implement this as an add-on to a minecraft world, it'd be 1000000% in the realm of possibility)
edit: and by add on to a minecraft world, I mean you can have the end nether overworld all uneffected by the custom made backrooms
I will escape by simply asking an entity where the nearest exit is, or how to leave.
I think it's really funny that instead of horror music, you can hear Undertale music lightly playing in the background.
This dude needs the effortless building mod
This is undoubtedly the best backrooms related thing I’ve seen in Minecraft. Upon release, will the game be functional with more than one player?
This is Great!!
this is a tutorial on how to build the backrooms too
amazing getting subbed
omg i cannot wait to see more of this
Yo that's cool man I would include the portal thing in my map but sadly I play on pocket edition but I was lucky enough to be able to make my own texture pack, your map looks amazing
