- Thanks for watching this video! I'm so happy that these brand new recipes (to me) turned out! Here are a couple suggestions if you want to try making this one: only use a THIN layer of cream cheese frosting, and don't put a second layer of lemon curd on the top. If you are the last person to say citroen, you're then not allowed to speak anymore until someone says your name. If you do speak then the other person is allowed to hit you. Every family and friend group has different rules though, just like Aaron and Laura. They clearly still need to establish the jinxing rules in their marriage :')
I also love learning about new cultures! American culture is really interesting, but it seems so non-foreign to me because American pop culture is so dominant here in Europe. It must be strange that as an American, you don't get this automatic exposure to another culture just by watching TV etcetera. RUclips changes that though, and I love that!

Now, we have the slug bug game where the first to see a Volkswagon Beetle says slug bug. The one who doesn't see it first gets slugged in the arm. (Hit) That is what I thought of when I heard your explanation of the Citroen game. 😄

I love how humble and honest you are about everything Laura. You’re always willing to admit what could go wrong and show what “real life” is like behind the camera. It’s really refreshing content to watch amongst a society desiring to only reveal what’s perfect. Anyway, I think I can taste that cake through the screen! It looks amazing! You could also make a yummy lemon pudding with those lemons too!

Not even ten seconds in, and I am loving the cuteness! Your son is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E! That smile and those cheeks make me think of the song, "A, You're Adorable." Enjoy each and every day with your little guy. My girls are 15, 13, and 13. It was a blur when they were little, LOL, but I loved every minute of it. In fact, I still do. I think that it is terrific that people are sending you such nice baking and cooking tools. Soon you will be 100% professional. I identify more with the way you were before, punting and substituting wherever needed. I don't have all of the professional tools, so it warms my heart to see someone cook so well with patchwork supplies like mine.

I just made a lemon poppyseed cake! Must be the 'thing to do'! Just a tip for you. When putting the cream etc on the cake, have a jug of hot water and a tea towel handy. Dip the spatula into the hot water, wipe it with the tea towel, then spread the cream. the heat makes it spread easier. You can also dip the knife in the hot water to help cut the cake smoothly.
Cake looks so yummy! Benjamin is adorable, he's getting so big. I'm not sure about the jinx thing, we didn't count. Aaron might be right, uh oh.
I'm in my 50's, grew up in the south and we just said "Jinx! You owe me a coke!". I'd never heard of counting till you did it. Sounds more challenging to win! Thanks for sharing how you made your cake, looked scrumptious!!

Our saying is "pinch, poke, you owe me a coke" and you keep saying it until you finish faster than the other person. It can get really crazy! Also, I'm very inspired by the lemon cake recipe. I mix recipes quite often. I'm a fan of lemon curd so this one is on the short list. I have two Meyer lemon trees and two dwarf red grapefruit. Thinking I may expand into limes this year. Love the drips on the recipes! Mine are like that as well. I love that you keep it real. Thanks for inspiring us. ❤️

I have never heard of the counting either. Usually the first person to notice the Jinx will say "Jinx, you owe me a coke" and whoever says that first, wins. Sometimes you'll have a double or multiple Jinxes where the two people will say "Jinx, you owe me a coke" at the same time. Then you will get or owe multiple cokes to whoever wins. LOL I haven't thought of this stuff in years!

My little lemon tree (that I got off the hospice rack!) gave us 2 lemons and my daughter has been watching them, waiting for them to be ready. Well, they were ready and my husband found a recipe for lemonade for a single lemon and it was delicious...and I hate lemonade. We were all very excited about it because we grew those 2 lemons! Oh my gosh, your cake sounds so yummy. I just bought a Meyer Lemon tree from my neighbors family of a friend who passed away in May from COVID19 which is very sad, but I'm thankful to have her meyer lemon tree to treasure for years to come. I'm originally from Michigan and 3 years new to Florida so I am having to learn all new plants and growing seasons which has been fun. I have a lime tree, mango tree, 5 fig trees, and a Calamandin orange tree that's producing very well this year. In May I made my first batch of orange marmalade using my Calamandin oranges and store bought oranges, and to my surprise it was very good. Using the 2 types of oranges gave me a sweet and sour flavor to my marmalade.
Your next recipe using lemons will have to be Lemon Bars or Lemon Meringue pie (one of my favorites and one I plan to make when my tree produces).
I've enjoyed watching and learning from your channel, and your a girl after my own heart. I've spent a great many hours working on my yard/garden since moving into my home over the last 3 years with only 3 trees and one double peach hibiscus. I pretty much started with a blank slate, I've done all the work myself and I'm still adding to my landscape every day. I am in the middle of a project presently. In my yard I've planted many plants for butterflies and bees, and currently have a Bluebirds nesting in one of my bluebird houses. And I can relate to those pesky gophers and moles how they tunnel and the mounds they make mess are such work to get rid of.
If I have I ever made a trip up to your neck of the woods, I would love to visit your parents garden center and your beautiful home to do a tour as it's my kind of place.

My friend gave me lemons off her tree, so yesterday I made lemon macarons with lemon curd and vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream. They're chilling in the fridge as macarons have to be refrigerated overnight before you eat them. The Bavarian Cream looks intriguing. Thanks for sharing!

I'm so happy you're adding more citrus trees! Mine have already bloomed (they're located at North and South windows inside the house), I hand pollinated with a small paint brush and now I've got fruit growing! The scent of them blooming is so awesome... Try out the Oswari Satsuma (delicious fruit!) and mandarins. I've also got Ruby Red grapefruit (tart, not bitter, almost sweet and I peel them like an orange to eat them), Meyer lemon, Thornless Key Lime, Hamlin orange (super juicy), Washington navel and a blood orange. The mandarin I've had fruiting is a store bought tree, but I planted seeds from a tree in S. Georgia (I live near Atlanta) and keep them outside to see if they'll survive. So far, so good! They've lasted 3 years and are still alive and growing!
I am going to try baking the cake tomorrow. We just picked a bag full of lemons from my Mother-in-laws tree. Can't wait for that POW of lemon to sock my taste buds!
Hi Laura! I know youve been doing this for years. But a little tip from a biology student here! Instead of scissors, use a very sharp blade to re-cut your cut-flowers :D When using scissors, you are at high risk of crushing the vascular tracts in the stem, which is what takes up water :) I would suggest using a wallpaper-knife instead, and cutting them on an 45 degree angle. Lots of love from a fellow garden lover from Norway!

Loved it when Benjamin ran to take his grandmother’s hand. I miss my grandkids. Lemon anything is a hit with me so this was the trifecta of lemonyness. Yumm. King Arthur flour is the only flour I use as I’ve had fiascos happen with other brands. They have a consistent protein amount in their flours. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

I have a friend who was born 14 years prior to me (I'm 58) and a little south of where I live (in a small farming community) and she says, "Pinch poke, you owe me a coke".
