    THANK YOU!!!! I was about to go and buy a Metabones to replace the Viltrox (which offers ZERO customer support) but followed your steps and fixed the autofocus issue!

    Dear Graeme Simpson,
    I want to personally thank you about for this wonderful tutorial.
    It is now 1AM night time, and I thought I need to order new Viltrox adapter, but you saved!

    Worked! I was able to fix my 24-70mm and 24-105mm's wide angle focus! Turning my Viltrox's speed booster lens did the trick! Took a while but happy there was a solution.

  • @DariusMackenzie
    @DariusMackenzie 6 лет назад +30

    If you're still not able to get infinity focus no matter how much you turn clockwise, this is what you have to do: Unscrew the Viltrox lens all the way until it comes out of the body. On the inside of the body, on the lip on the sensor-side, you will see a buildup of a glue-like substance. Scrape all of this off and then put the lens back into the body and rotate clockwise until you can't rotate it anymore. This is what worked for me.

      I had the same problem with reaching infinity focus on 18 mm, thanks to your advice i've fixed that. Very nice to have wet towels for optics, i've used some from ZEISS in order to clean lens block and adapter inside after this procedure.

      @bbcubesworld8 5 лет назад

      Darius Mackenzie I am having similar issues with my viltrox EF-M2, is there any images to go along with your procedure so I don’t turn the wrong screws and mess up the adapter?
      Thanks in advance.

      I've tried this and I'm able to get it closer but nothing like shooting without the viltrox. Maybe the viltrox nf-m43x has more room because it has no contacts?

      that rubber/glue scratch off advice did it for me!!! man - thank you. people need to add this to the video. I think the glue creates another layer that prevents the lens to fully go in.

    YOU ARE A LIFESAVER! (Seriously, I was so happy I found this out, I called my mom about it as soon as I fixed it)
    BACKSTORY-
    I just dropped a lot of money on two lens. Both are EF lenses I use with and EF-R3 Speedbooster which allows you to use EF lenses on RF APS-C cameras.
    after owning both lenses long enough that I could not return, I found out they wouldn’t focus to infinity! I thought I was stuck with it forever bc I wasn’t going to be able to afford any new lenses, anytime soon.
    Then I thought what if it was the speed booster, but there was never any details about how to adjust focus on Viltrox speed boosters. (If there even is a way) So didn’t think it was a thing I could do.
    So I looked it up and your video showed me how! AMAZING, I can focus to infinity now!!! You have saved me so much time, effort and money! Thanks!

    I was using a different brand, for an M42 to EOS-M adapter. From the look of yours, though, I'll bet it was the same (Chinese) mfr.
    If I'd known this, I'd have tried it before returning the adapter in disgust.
    I'm still having a problem with the non-lens adapter for the same camera & lens family. I think it's the circular ridge they put in there to push the stop-down pin on the lens. I'm waiting for a hex key from Germany (!) to be able to open the adapter & remove that thing.
    You'd think occasionally companies would test their products, instead of making us do it for them... and pay for the privilege!

    IT HELPS ME SO MUCH for my sigma 18 - 35 with the infinity focus. THANKS !!! Now it is a lot better (at least it focus close object on infinity and almost as good at far distance on infinity. It was impossible before. I also get a bit more range of focus on 20mm+ on infinity. I will calibrate it also with the sigma calibrater for canon and I hope to get the sharpest possible image then...

      does your sigma 18-35mm hold focus when zooming with the viltrox? Mine does not at the moment. I also can't turn
      it more since it gets very tight to turn. Might have to try to get rid of that residue inside as someone else suggested

    I'm having an autofocusing issue with my EF-M2 and Canon lenses where it will hunt in a small focal range and never find focus. This is the case with both the Canon 50mm f/1.8 and the Canon 85mm f/1.8. Using my Sigma 18-35 and Tokina 11-16, autofocus works wonderfully. Any idea what's going on?

    • @GraemeSimpsonPhotography
      @GraemeSimpsonPhotography  6 лет назад

      I'm finding the auto focus to be a bit hit and miss with varied lighting conditions so have now gone to manual focus where possible. Unless I'm using the Feiyu Tech A2000 then I try to get away with using auto focus. Also, I'm not sure if all lenses are fully supported yet by the adapter.
