Yudi, Scott got scared cause of the open mouth laugh that showed teeth. Monkeys see that as a sign of aggression or a warning, so Scott did the right thing of being scared and acting submissive. It is like how you used to try to feed a monkey what would not want to eat and you do the open mouth gesture to try to show them how to open their mouth but the the translation was lost and they saw it as you warning not to drink. Facial expressions are very important.
For sure you are right. It shows how hard it is to be constantly in an other languange, an other culture. But I'm also sure the babies will forgive it...😊, with the next cuddle.

Every now and then Yudi does something out of habit that he misses, but I would be there to help him see the situation so he can better engage with the monkeys. I've done this before and I do this now. Yudi does not see my comments as insults because he knows I am trying to help him. And I know you are stepping in on his defense, so I am not upset or angry like some others would react. In fact I am glad to see that you stepped in to guard him from condescending remarks.
