OldSkuleNerd Theme Music by Torrential Rain
I am Italian, I am not much into football/soccer, yet I remember that day in 1994 (I was 16). Everyone in Italy remembers that day. This is the most serious song ever made by Nanowar, a superb way to honor to our Heroes. Their sacrifice will never been forgotten.
Possibly the most devastating defeat in Italian history since the fall of Rome
i feel you, i was playing football myself for 8 years when i was young, had every fifa game from fifa 97 up to fifa 2008, then lost interest in the sport entirely, but that game germany vs brazil where we won 7:1 will always be a memory and a feeling i'll never forget
Ma come non ti ricordi?do caxxo staviiiiii?😂😂😂
Joakim is born in Sweden, his father is Swedish, his mother is from the Czech Republik. And the song is really funny, love both bands and see and hear them together is great fun.
I'm Italian and, believe me, 29 years afterwards this still hurts. By the way, the "Divine Ponytail" (Divin Codino), was the nickname of Roberto Baggio, the best italian player, who missed the final penalty sending it over the crossbar (hence the final sentence in the video about throwing your heart over the crossbar)
SOMEONE GIVE THIS PERSON A HUG DAMMIT ALMOST 30 YEARS AND IT STILL HURTS….
@@OldSkuleNerd of course. i was just 20,and after the disappointment, i must to sleep on the road,'cause no train to come back home...
@@fabioartoscassone9305 OMG DUDE!!!
You don't need Sabaton, we have Sabaton at home
Sabaton at Home: This
"Wow mom this is great!"
Joakim trying not to laugh at some of the line he has is amazing to see! I couldn't stop laughing through the whole song
Brings out what he's doing during concerts, when they are messing with eachother. Really love that they genuinely are having fun
I dont want to know how many times they needed to redo the scenes with Joakim because he way laying on the ground laughing his ass off :D
@@patrickdasp5609 i want a compilation of that
The only thing now missing is Sabaton history doing its own thing about the tragedy of Passadena 94' ...
After this video, we need to ask for it over and over just like we begged for the Winged Hussars episode of Sabaton History.
@@SirBrass This Sounds like a plan...
Since sweden finished in the 1994 World Cup so for Sabaton it would be a triumph not a tragedy.
to be fair, Joakim gave up his reputation as a serious musician when he wrote Metal Machine
Joakim being serious? Are we not counting the wonderful line of "Come touch my metal machine" and him playing with a blown up condom during a live show?
And that is good. To much bad serious stuff out their. All bands should have more fun and cheeseness ;)
Let's not talk about Steel Panther 🤣🤣
What do you mean? That's a serious song about serious issues
@@p3chv0gel22 just for Italians ;) 🤪
I'm a Finn and I still actually remember this match and have been listening to this three times over and laughing my ass off every time
Austrian here and the same for me 🤣🤣
Fun fact: Sweden actually came third in that WC.
That defeat was so huge that even me, an italian who doesn't give a fuck about football, and never did, I know very well this particular final match xD I was 10 at that time, remember my father-uncles-cousins-grandfathers desperation very well
Also, back in time, Winston Churchill said "Italians lose wars like they were football matches, and football matches like they were wars"
do you mean he said that in 1994? ;-)
@@ClaudiocjJanuario XD
I'm italian but... what means "Joakim is from center Europe, he comprehend football"? Swedish people comprehend and play football as well. They are really good at football (e.g. the semi-final of the 1994 world cup was Brazil-Sweden, and Sweden conquered the bronze medal aganist Bulgaria few days later)
Actually Half Czech with Czech passport... which puts him just across Austria from Italy... So he probably could hear the screams that night from Italy LOL
@@OldSkuleNerd most likely xD
Didn't a colombian player got shot to death because his mistake got their national team out of that particular world cup?
@@ordisraru Yes...the poor Andres Escobar,he scored an own goal during USA vs Colombia in the 1994 World Cup and when back at home he was first insulted for the defeat and then murdered by two supporters/criminals as he left a restaurant...R.I.P.
@@OldSkuleNerd He was born in Falun Sweden, speaks and sings in Swedish and English and lives in Sweden. He has one parent that came from the Czech Republic before but Joakim does not speak that language or has ever lived there.
As for football it is the biggest sport in most countries in the world including Sweden. The only exception in Europe I can think of is Finland with Hockey and Lithuania with basketball.
ps. and no you are not going to get hurt for being ignorant about football but laughed at sure 😉😂
Joakim is born i Sweden, grew up here, went to school here, and have dual citizenship, he's Swedish.
What i completely adore about Nanowar of Steel is that they create parodies of many bands and genres, and usually in cooperation of someone from that said genre. I find their songs to be genius
Half Swedish is still Swedish haha, In one way he's actually more Swedish than Czech since he was born and raised in Sweden his whole life
I'm interested in history, but not military history in particular. Yet I fell for Sabaton.
I'm definitely not into soccer. So why am I eagerly anticipating your reaction to this. I don't know, but I like this video.
World Cup '94 in USA, is historic for Sweden too, they lost to Brazil in the semi final, but won the bronze game. Brazil then got to play against Italy in the final, played in Pasadena (The game in the song).
That third place for Sweden is also the best Sweden has ever got in international football.
So this song is sung by people from two countries that lost to Brazil for the first place 😂
(Brazil first place, Italy second, Sweden third)
They absolutely nailed Sabaton's Soldier of Heaven with this parody. They've got such incredible musical talent and amazing comedic instincts.
I seriously want to see them partner with Wierd Al (who is also an incredibly accomplished musician in addition to his clever parodies) for something too.
Joakim is part swedish (dad is swedish) and part czech (mom is from Czech Republic), football is also the biggest sport in sweden allthough icehockey is close, actually sweden came in third in the 1994 FIFA world Cup.
Iron Maiden also sing about historical myths, legends, battles, events.
Yep, Europeans can be extremely passionate about their footie.
Edit: The national English media are still harping on about Sixty bleeping Six ad nauseum.
Edit 2: Hrm makes me think of a footie version of the tabletop game Bloodbowl,
If you think the English are obsessed about 1966, try Germany, they still aren't over that one goal in the extension.
@@marcusmeitzler6592 That is because it was not a goal. Hell, I was born nine years later and even I am still sore about it 😉
You called me?
if you want a real version of bloodbowl, just come to florence in june
I'm happy they did a defeat because it would be very unpolite to brag about some victory. This way we come up with some dignity, for once :)
Bro, I'm sorry to tell you, but........
The "serious" song Gatto was referring to... Well, he said this song is "Pasadena 1994"... 😅
I'm Brazilian and was 13 years when this battle happened, the Party after this game in Rio is something to remember.
Over a million people in Copacabana partied until morning, Sunday.
Swedish guys are in a quite good position to understand the same feelings since in the semifinal on 13 july, only a few days before this happened, Sweden was eliminated by the same Brazil, and that happened in Pasadena too.
But that was a semifinal and was not decided with penalties, so in term of roughness a few "notches" down.
And also, still in Pasadina on 16 july, the day before the main final the song is about, Sweden also won the 3rd place final over Bulgaria, that meant ending with a win, altough bittersweet.
I mean... in central america in 1965, there was a war that - while there were other things that started it, and set it up - the ultimate kicker (heh.) was a soccer match. a legit war.... because of a soccer match (yeah I said it.)
to be fair. Canada will riot and burn streets because of a badcall in hockey... we all have our passions.
That is so true about Canada, just look up the Richard Riot.
I was there when the premiere went online... I saw them Gandalf... the doors of Valhallheaven... 🤣
I'm Italian, i was 17 years old I Remember exactly that day. I cried, i was angry. Today I still can't see any video or photos, and if I do, i have the same feelings.
Same age same reaction, actually i didn't cry at the time, i cry now. I'm afraid we will never have another Roberto Baggio
i know nothing about the event's of Pasadena 1994, nor do i know really anything about soccer/football/whatever you wanna call it (not really a sports person, i'll watch em but i by no means go out of my way). but much like sabaton, i do now and i was able to laugh my ass off all the same. this song killed me!
Great Value Sabaton! Awesome line dude!
I'm Brazilian, and i'd love sabaton play this song in live here.
Why do you americans call it football while you handle the ball in your hands anyway? :)
Because we kick it with our foot
@@60nascar
I also kick my wife with my foot, that doesn't qualify as football anyway :D
Honestly that’s not even close to the dumbest crap we do…..
@@OldSkuleNerd
Well, it is a good match indeed, there're plenty of fuckups here as well :)
I ask it myself a lot too!!!
you said that in Italy, the fan going to chant "pasadena"...well I´m not italian nor going to Italy for Sabton concert...but I have tickets for concert in Vienna and I´m going to scream "Pasadena 1994"
This song sounds to me like a mix of last stand with Elements of smoking snakes
Which is hilarious given that snakes was about brazilian troups lol
I know nothing about soccer and barely watch it, but this was fun!
This was hillarious to watch 😂😂 Thank you 😀
Joakim did a song with Grailknights too......
I think Tommy already has some kind of parodies of a few Sabaton songs he's personally covered in his channel (they are mashup of Sabaton and Disney songs), so no one will probably ever be that bothered by this (ingenious) one. 😂
you just gave the most accurate explanation on how "football" must be treated out of the US... Excellent!!!
I loved the video, but this react and interview took it to another level. Thanks!
i love this so much..
Joakim taking part in a parody about himself..
class
I mean, Joakim IS Swedish, but he has Czech roots. And Sweden's a football-nation too! 🤨
Breathe…. It’s ok I know Sweden came in 3rd that World Cup and Joakim has a Czech passport it has all been revealed…. It’s just a reaction it’s ok…. Come here give me a hug….
@@OldSkuleNerd But.... But..... Köttbullar också! 🫣😭😅
Only Italians can make a song to remember a defeat!😀
It was an epic defeat :)
In Brazil your concil about archrival is a little dangerous because sometimes you should find by region and not city
Guys, don't ask for a bolacha in Rio. You won't like it
Some in London. That city has more teams than Germans have Bratwurst.
@@acabralro The bloody field of bolacha against biscoito... Our civil war.
Za tę reakcję, i kilka ciekawych faktów na temat Sabaton, Nanowar i nie tylko, masz ode mnie subskrypcję. Oby tak dalej 😄🤟🤟🤟
Sabaton did funny stuff, too, like 7734, Metal Crue or Metal Machine. :D
I would argue about 7734, it's not a song of the kind to laugh.rather to grieve a little
@@agger2003 You are aware that 7734 if you type it into a calculator reads hell if you turn the calculator around?
winterstorm was a serious video/song. dandruff is no joke. it can be a problem for sure. Joakim Brodén is an amazing person. im not surprised he did a funny collab with another band. he does that with other bands. seeing that he did that with Nanowar is s a great surprise.
tbh, in both Czech Rep and Sweden, the more popular sport is hockey.
It's a pity that I'm from Russia, and I don't understand most of the jokes in the song.but even so, she made me laugh.especially Joakim, who practically laughed at the camera.I wasn't familiar with Nanowar at all before this song, now it's another one of my favorite bands
Well as Italians we'd be happy to explain the jokes that don't translate well into Russian culture but as long as you understand how heartfelt is a football match for us, you get most of the pain that emerges from listening to this song
I was born the day this game happened! Couldn't get a nurse for love, money or violence from what my mum told me!
This is actually kinda awesome if you're into football.
I still remember how they got to the finals with Tasotti hitting Luis Enrique lol we don't forget in Spain f u Italy.
Gracias
zio pera
This is fucking hilarious.
An extra note on researching sports teams when visiting foreign nations;
In the UK, Australia, India & Pakistan Cricket is also extremely popular.
It's serious business to the point that if you tell some people from India or Pakistan that you support the other country... you will be executed in the street... that's not a joke or exaggeration, last time those teams had a big match, there were groups of people from those countries roaming UK cities looking for blood... wasn't pretty.
Also be careful with cities with more than one team. That is truly deadly rivalry.
Don't go to East London wearing a milwall shirt.
Actually just don't wear a milwall shirt.
This is NSCAR go fast tune left go fast turn go fast turn left Just keep doing this
If U are going race a car either see how fast ti will go in a straight line (Drag Racing) or do the NSCAR thing on a flat dirt track of less then 1/2 Now that will try ur driving skills mi or do Grand Prix where driving skills are even n more so needed
i think the song sounds absolutely amazing ngl, it sounds so good
they hit the key-change around 26:09, atleast they stayed true to the source material. o7
To Brazilians it was one of the most epic games in history. Taffarel is still saw as our greatest golkeeper.
Our only small little insignificant consolation is that Brasil is Brasil ;)
Just waiting for the Nanowar of Steel History Channel now...
Logan Sargeant drives for Williams F1.
yeah and when he scores at least 1 point THEN I WILL SAY THERE IS AN F1 DRIVE FROM THE US.... so far he has one P12 finish... so it looks good so far....
@@OldSkuleNerd let's watch @indycar
Completely disconnected and hilarious! That's Nanowar of Steel for ya...🤣😆👍
I think Pär was in on the idea from day one though. All guys in Sabaton is jokesters so I think they all was in on it and laughed their asses of 🤣
I remember Baggio missing Scotland weren’t there I think only Republic of Ireland were the only UK team there
While I am perhaps one of the few Europeans who is NOT into football, I can't help but approve of your well-meant advice for those who dare venture outside the US-borders. Heck, the World Cup is one of the very VERY few events where you will see even Germans plaster the buildings and cars with their flags - something otherwise unheard of. So yes, football is serious business over here.
Arch nemesis of a local team might be another local team. Beware of stating who sucks in cities that have two major clubs in them. 😅😅😅
Nanowar is awsome
27:53 Logan Sargent is American. A rookie in what is considered the worst team, but there is 1 of the 20 drivers that's American now.
If you think 1994 was long ago, Germans still aren't over the finals loss in 1966, because one of the goals was possibly irregular.
Germany 7 vs Brazil 1... We will never forget it!
Possibly ... get outta here...
Castel Sant'Angelo like in The Last Stand...
This video is how Argentina players feel in the field .

@@MrDanilop45 oh I see lol
You are a very funny and intelligent man and I have rarely laughed so much at a reaction 😀It's clear you have been abroad, since you know about FIFA, F1 and rugby...what we wonder in Europe is why American cars only can turn left...Don't you have any right turns in the States? ;-))
haha and haha
After youre talk about football i would love to a see you whatching a comperision between US soccer and European football
NHL not on the list there. And for a good reason I guess! At least in Finland it seems that our local leagues, the world championshipw and olympics apparently aren't enough and the NHL needs to be followed as well.
Fair enough. Us Germans are still grousing about that goal in the 1966 finals. No, it was NOT behind the line. It has been scientifically proven. We wuz robbed! 😁
American F1 drivers? Scott Speed and Logan Sergeant jumps to mind
i dont know what picture or idea toy have of football fans and european pubs, and Sabaton for that matter but it's really not like you describe it
I still feel like an asshole for laughing at this song.
Joakim Brodén not swedish? I’m pretty sure he is. Born in sweden with a swedish name.
What is Nascar? 🤪
Joakim is part Polish if i don't mix things up.

Joakim is in the song tho
Is this supposed to be a Sabaton parody? I don't get it.
Yes, it's a Sabaton parody, and Joakim is all for it 😂
I intensely dislike Sabaton, I find it enormously cringe (as the young folk say). But I do have to give credit to Mr Brodén for being a good sport
It's a band that's really hard to take seriously. I can appreciate people liking them, but it's not my cup of tea.
I'm there with you, man.
I live in NC and talk shit about Nascar all the time, it's incredibly boring
