I'm an old gay, an AIDS era gay. A movie where no one is sick, no one does, no one is beaten, no f* word. Just a comedy-romance. I really liked this movie, and seeing that your reactions are no different then mine. That sentence got away from me. This movie just made me happy; happy in a way i haven't been in a long time. I am on my 4th watch through.
i saw an older gay cople on the bus the other day and i almost started crying. I'm a younger gay person, and it's so important to see older couples just living and being happy. Seeing couples who paved the way for me to be able to head my schools council as "queer representative" and not be bullied for it makes me so happy. We so often hear stories about gay suffering and mourning, and while it's important to learn and grow from the grief, i'm so grateful for the privledge of allowing myself to be happy.
Nick and Taylor’s chemistry is something else. I couldn’t watch some of those spicy scenes properly cause the sexual tension was too much, I felt like I wasn’t supposed to see that 😂 had to pause multiple times
True. That’s where the fan came in handy… Also, note in the White House bedroom scene where Alex loses its mind (17:00), a view of the very phallic Washington Monument in the background… Love that kind of symbolism.
So truee omg. I have watched tons of sexual scenes in BL films. I'm kinda emotionless watching these scenes, even though they are intense. But this one, it was too real and I am too shy. I paused like 20 times during that love-making scene. Maybe this is a thing that makes RWRB different from other typical queer films.
there was more exploration of alex's bisexuality in the book but because alex's character in the movie is more aged up, that's why alex has already accepted the fact that he's into guys but he's confused that he's into THE prince henry - which was a nice change since the movie can then focus more on alex and henry's love story with the limited time.
The book made me feel so seen as someone who is bi, it was really amazing. I recommend reading it if you have the time!! The movie is fantastic, but the letters in the books carry so much meaning that you don't get in the movie.
I would add that as someone who is Bi and grew up in Oklahoma, which has a similar vibe to Texas in terms of conservatism, Alex's confusion and just plain ignorance of how to contextualize and name his feelings toward people of the same sex really resonated with me.
So true! I listened to the audiobook version back in 2019, and after watching the film, which I absolutely loved, I decided to give it a re-listen. The film is amazing, but the book is life-altering. It has layers, which the film lacks - it makes sense that the film is a simplified version, but the book is everything.
I'm a 61 year old straight woman & I think Red White and Royal Blue is one of the best rom-coms I've seen in a long time. It's fresh, modern & in many ways very informative. Maybe it's just me, but very early on it stopped being a "queer" romance & became just a romance between two people trying (& initially, temporarily failing) to make a challenging relationship work. BTW, I just stumbled onto your channel, but you two are hilarious! Thanks for a great review!
I am an old white lady and this is my favorite movie right now! Everything about it is just so great the acting the story awesome! Fellow Travelers broke my heart and this just makes me smile!!!
The sex scene was truly amazing. So tender, romantic but very very hot. I'm a straight woman but was so turned on by this scene. I literally melted when Alex opened Henry's shirt. So hot. Any scene in a gay movie can be really hot but it's not often as tender as this. It reminded me of some of the sex scenes in The Priest with Robert Carlisle and Linus Roche. Really beautiful and tender.
I'm glad more people are appreciating THAT scene 🥵 The intimacy coordinator deserves a trophy for that. All of the little moments: Henry's hand on Alex's back, pushing Alex forward and deeper; the little gasps and holding of breath; the foreheads touching... All of those little details not only made it incredibly intimate but also one of the most realistic queer sex scenes I've ever witness in cinema without being gratuitous. Bravo 👏 Well done all around.
The book and the movie are great in their own ways. The book gives us a deep dive into the characters involved, and gives us a little more depth to how the two got together. The movie took what is special from the book and wrote it in the best way you can for a movie adaptation. Personally as I introduce RWRB to my friends, I recommend movie first before book, because the movie gives us the visuals, and the entrance to the world of Henry and Alex; and then you read the book and connect with them more, connect with their stories more. That's why, personally, watching the movie first and reading the book is better for RWRB's case.
Valid POV, but I think reading the book first allows for a more complete perspective of Alex and Henry’s respective predicaments (family/public/political environment), without which the ‘drama’ loses much of its edge. It’s telling that the film has eliminated a variety of side characters who play an important part in the book (Alex’ sister June, Senator Luna, Ellen Claremont’s first husband - Alex’ real biological dad) and reduced others to 30 second cameos. The film does have the considerable advantage of showing us the main character’s faces - and what faces…😍.
As someone who has seen the movie 3x before diving in to the book (which is something that I did for the very first time), I could not agree more. The thing is they portrayed the characters so well that most of them I can even imagine while reading the book. Then to see a much deeper connection especially at the start of their friendship/relationship is just ✨ with of course the addition of other characters involvement to their life. And god oh god the ending on book with Henry’s POV is such a heartwarming read ❤❤ I know I may (or may not) receive barrage of comments but there are some scene or at least part of the movie that I like more than the source material.
Know what??? Henry mockingly mentioned in the interview that he likes Alex’s willingness to admit when he‘s wrong and this is exactly what Alex did during the sex scene😭😭😭😭😭😭
"How could a book be hotter?" Oh boys, there is a whole world of smut books out there. Detailed descriptions of how things feel can definitely be hotter than visuals.

There are Americans who are as trapped as Henry. And it does tear you apart. You can be balanced and fulfill duties, or happy and yourself. There isn’t an inbetween with some families. It’s ingrained, that belief that you owe others something over owing happiness to yourself. I’m 38 and still fighting it.
@@Sean0526a I’m thumbs upping this because I’m so glad you said something, not because I’m happy someone else is going through it. It sounds like he’s pretty lucky in the end, he has you.
There’s a line in “Surface Pressure” (Encanto) that says “I’m pretty sure I’m worthless if I can’t be of service” that I think captures perfectly the trap of toxic family cultures and expectation. We absolutely can break out of these bits it’s terrifying to do.
The two actors are so attractive, there is part of me that wants to roll my eyes and smack them. This feeling is just overwhelmed by my desire to stare longingly at them. PS, the book is legit good.

the slow burn is so fucking good in the book, i cried so hard listening to it bc you feel the emotions and feelings that alex has for henry. There's a lot more extra stuff in there about their relationship.
FYI, Sarah Shahi, who plays Zarah, is Iranian, so, although Iran is geographically in Asia, I believe iranians generally refer to themselves as Persian over Asian. Either way. The diverse representation is appreciated. Also shoutout to the OG "The L Word" fans who recognise Zahra as Carmen from that series. A true queer legend in her own right
THIS WAS HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE FUNNIEST REACTIONS I COULDNT BREATHE BY THE END MY GOD LOL ALEX WITH THE FAN HAD ME IN TEARS (AND RELATABLE) CANT WAIT FOR PART TWOOO
OMG I cannot wait for the reaction and seeing you two scandalised. P.S. Amazon Prime is trash for the cancellation of ‘A League of their Own’, which was well produced and a wlw safe space.
I love this movie!!! I have watched it 4 times in 1 day and I cannot stop. The book and the movie are great. The chemistry between Nick and Taylor is off the charts!!! I laughed, I cried. Everytime I watch it I see more details and nuances that I missed. The love making scene was perfection!!! Never seen anything like that before. ❤ I have now seen it 14 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
I've red the book before watching the movie. I think they did the best work! I mean.... I don't know where did they find these two actors, but I must say thay are the perfect choice for Alex and Henry! The chemistry is WOW! and in that scene, they really made love! It wasn't just s*e*x. The best bl couple in the past decade! For sure...
As a sometime cake decorator I agree - cakes really are surprisingly heavy and that would definitely have hurt! If it had been a traditional fruit cake (as I think British royal - and other - wedding cakes still often are) it might have killed them!
The book is amazing so I don’t know who’s telling you otherwise haha! I love both the book and the film! They both have their merits! Hope we get a sequel tbh 🤣💜
The book is AMAZING, you can dive deeper into the characters and the story itself. The movie is an INCREDIBLE adaptation!! The chemistry is off the charts between Alex and Henry. Had so much fun with this reaction 🤣 can't wait for part 2
In regards to "I heard the book is bad" it's definitely not for everyone. It's a piece of modern fiction, but requires much more suspension of disbelief than is typical for modern fiction. There's no small amount of wish fulfillment of the writer depicting our world but slightly better. Also Alex is incredibly smart but also about certain subjects he feels like an idiot for plot reasons. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I think Alex and Henry's dynamic is much better in the book than the movie. But yeah... it does require you to turn your brain off at some parts to get the most enjoyment out of it. Also, Alex's and Henry's emails to each other are so incredible and really carry the romance. Them being mostly excluded from the movie is a huge loss.
This , as someone who went into the book not knowing exactly how it was written it was definitely a bit disappointing for me but I won't lie I didn't hate it I definitely liked it more after I read it, it has become such a comfort, light read for me and I just love Henry and Alex
Same here! The writing style was not the best, imo. Sometimes some sentence structures or wording annoyed me a little 😅 But the development of the story, the growth of the characters, their relationship to each other, not just Alex and Henry but all the secondary characters too, was amazing. It's a very enjoyable read, imho
I’ll be honest, I think I personally appreciated the book much more after I watched the movie? Because I didn’t hate the book, but I’d rate it as 7/10. However, in comparison to the movie, the book is *amazing*
Two of the best reaction lines ever spoken "He's in" "He doesn't need to douche he's cleansed by God". I love watching TV with you guys. Hope you guys react to Queen Charlotte.
Haven't you noticed that Nicolas looks like a grown up prince George. You guys are a blast, please never change. " your royal hardness" and the fan got me howling. On that note I am waiting for the first British royal to come out.
The book truly is beautiful, and I really recommend it as a read. The movie was a great romcom but the book has so much more depth in the characters. You get to see more of Alexs struggle with his sexuality, Henry's struggle with his grief over his father and the dynamics of his family. Hell, let's not forget the fact that Alex has a sister, who is a badass who we love. And we get to learn a lot more about Henrys sister too. Please read the book! Like I said, the movie is a great romcom, but the book holds so much more.
I love how you both allow yourselves to be part of the movie. So often in reactions people step on parts of the show and I liked how it went back and forth from the movie to you two. Oh and Miguel! I swear he's the Disney Evil Queen of the movie.
These guys are a riot! So much fun to watch a movie like this with Brits who are "in the life." I am a straight old lady in Midwest USA. My late younger brother, who died of long term complications from brittle diabetes, was a closeted gay. He had one boyfriend intermittently for 15 years before he died. We did not find out his sexual preference until after his death. Too sickly to live on his own, my parents took care of him until his death. Our family was traditional and not homophobic. After my brother died I did contact his boyfriend to offer support. We can celebrate the absence of suicide, homicide, terminal illness, fatal accidents, etc. in this gay rom com. Hooray for the happy ending.
I've been waiting for your reactions to this movie. Love seeing you guys being shooked, speechless, hot & bothered and even drooling. Great reactions guys. Can't wait to see part 2 reactions. Well done.
Guys, I absolutely loved your reactions. I couldn't help but giggle, while having my morning coffee. I absolutely LOVE this book and love this movie. We rarely get books and movies like this where it's not loaded with tragedy and heart-break. It's so nice to see that first love with all its awkwardness, horniness, and open-hearted sincerity. My only minimal niggle is that I wish the movie had delved a little deeper into Henry's history with depression and his anger and sadness after his dad died. That was so fundamental to Henry's character. In the book, Beatrice says to Alex that Henry is the most caring, nurturing, selfless person but that he also has this deep, cavernous sadness in him and that Alex has to love that part of Henry too because it's part of who he is. I wish we could have seen more of that, how Alex helped save Henry, the prince who has it all except happiness.
maybe in the sequel? because Nora DID mention that Pez said Henry pulls back into his cocoon every now and then. Sets it up for what you're describing. Their life in New York, maybe getting married (or not) and maybe adopting or having kids. Anything is possible, but they could also bring the depression and anxiety up more then...
@@finduko I know it's wishful thinking, but I would love to see Henry's mom and Philip visit Henry and Alex in New York. It would be great to see Henry's family step up and support him. Of course Bea is his biggest supporter, but in the book his mom becomes one of his greatest allies and even Philip comes around.
yeah but we didnt see his mom at all (and nothing was said of her, only henry's dad) right? Would it be weird to introduce that character in a RWRB sequel? Sort of like bringing June in? (Also, I love how Nora became a joined character of Nora and June, given they supposedly become a couple in that bonus chapter) @@SeattleSandro
@@finduko We did hear briefly about Henry's mother. After he comes back from Austin, he and Bea are in the garden and he mentions his mother is in Botswana saving elephants and Henry wonders if he needs to grow a pair of tusks to get her attention. I could see her in the sequel, but not June. There was no mention of her, at all, so that would be jarring. Even if it's not his mother, perhaps Bea and Philip could support him. At the end of the book, Philip starts to come around. I think Philip was also devastated after his father died and his mom became a recluse. Once their mom reasserted herself, I think Philip became less of a twat.
@@SeattleSandro youre right about his mom! I wonder which actor would work in a sequel. Uma is such a cool mom for Alex, I wonder who they'd choose as the King's daughter/Henry's mom.....It would have to be someone who looks like they'd once been married to a Bond actor, you know?....
I did not know about your channel until this review of RW&RB but you guys had me laughing with tears running down my face. Now I'm going to have to go back and watch more of your videos.
William actually did say a while ago that he would be supportive of his children being gay. Honestly unless none of them have a child there also shouldn’t ever be a problem for them in general
I can't wait to part 2!!!! I love the way you two were blushing!! OMG ♥️♥️♥️ And btw I had the same reaction as Alex at those scenes (sorry my english is bad😅) LOVE 😁❤️
I heard you question if one of them was an aquarius. Henry is a pisces and Alex is an aries. Also I VERY much loved the book. You get a lot more depth to the characters, more angst, and more slow burn from enemies to fwb to lovers.
You should read the book if you enjoyed the movie, it's not bad at all and I'm convinced anyone who enjoyed the movie will also enjoy the book because it's like a deeper, more complex, enhanced version of the movie (which makes sense, the movie couldn't fit everything in). I'm not giving you spoilers but a major bad thing that happens at the end of the movie happens for a very different reason in the book and while I understand why they did it the way they did in the movie, it makes much more sense in the books. Also, the side characters get to shine more and that definitely enhances the story too: Nora is actually based on two separate characters (Nora - Alex's best friend and ex-girlfriend, and June - Alex's protective older sister), there's more backstory to Bea, Miguel Ramos doesn't exist and instead there's Rafael Luna (who is very different and way more interesting and complex than Miguel), etc.

the slow burn is so fucking good in the book, i cried so hard listening to it bc you feel the emotions and feelings that alex has for henry. There's a lot more extra stuff in there about their relationship.
"Am I Miguel?"
"I need a therapist, I don't know"
Honestly? Same.
And upon finishing the watch: screaming!!!! But also, our reactions were pretty close. This is what happens when a film’s director is gay 🔥
“Am I Miguel?” > “Am I the drama?”
I hope Alex had a cold shower after Part 1. Also, the fan is fabulous 😂 #LetMeGetMyFan
Obsessed. The polo clip of Henry's backside bouncing around on the saddle ... flirty foreshadowing.
The movie’s director, Matthew Lopez, is an award-winning playwright. You must see or read his play “The Inheritance” immediately!!! 🙏🏽👍🏽👏🏽
"he is cleansed by god" I JUST STARTED CACKLING AT 2AM 😭😭
Hope you didn't wake anyone 😉🤣
Remember how Henry said he can’t afford for Alex to fall in love with him. Couple weeks later he‘s like I think we should make love tonight 😂😂😂
I loved the Asian Representation in this movie. They were all well cast and so funny. (Shoutout to Zahra)
Who else was Asian besides Zahra?
@@johnpreciado9796Alex's bodyguard and Henry's quarry
FYI, Sarah Shahi, who plays Zarah, is Iranian, so, although Iran is geographically in Asia, I believe iranians generally refer to themselves as Persian over Asian. Either way. The diverse representation is appreciated. Also shoutout to the OG "The L Word" fans who recognise Zahra as Carmen from that series. A true queer legend in her own right
@@seachangelezzieabsolutely correct. My Persian friends here in Los Angeles would never refer to themselves as Asian.

THIS WAS HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE FUNNIEST REACTIONS I COULDNT BREATHE BY THE END MY GOD LOL ALEX WITH THE FAN HAD ME IN TEARS (AND RELATABLE) CANT WAIT FOR PART TWOOO
I was struck by the vulnerability of the s*x scene in Paris. So glad you guys caught on that. I was deeply moved.
The love scenes are so emotional and respectful.
You two are so undervalued as a comedic duo...
“George wave to the crown” took me OUT!! 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Actually… LOUIS might be the 🌈 one, if George isn’t.
And don’t forget Charlotte, either!
OMG I cannot wait for the reaction and seeing you two scandalised.
P.S. Amazon Prime is trash for the cancellation of ‘A League of their Own’, which was well produced and a wlw safe space.
I laughed so hard out of suprise when you said “he’s in” my cat jumped up and ran
I have now seen it 14 times! It just gets better and better!!! ❤❤❤
Oh fuck, the "His Royal Highness does not need to douche... he is cleansed... by God." I had to pause for a good few minutes to stop laughing.
“His Royal Highness does not need to douche. He is cleansed by God.” 💀
For sure...
F*** eyelashes ❤
@@speedymaju OMG! yes! Alex's eyelashes and Henry's lips are the death of me!!!
As a sometime cake decorator I agree - cakes really are surprisingly heavy and that would definitely have hurt! If it had been a traditional fruit cake (as I think British royal - and other - wedding cakes still often are) it might have killed them!
“They took it all in” made me cry laughing 😂😂😂
The book is amazing so I don’t know who’s telling you otherwise haha!
I love both the book and the film! They both have their merits! Hope we get a sequel tbh 🤣💜
The book is AMAZING, you can dive deeper into the characters and the story itself. The movie is an INCREDIBLE adaptation!! The chemistry is off the charts between Alex and Henry. Had so much fun with this reaction 🤣 can't wait for part 2
This was by far my favorite reaction video I have seen of RWRB! I had a great laugh, thank you
“Am I Miguel?” 🤦🏾♀️ 😂😂😂
You guys are a hoot! I've seen parts 1 and 2 multiple times now -- you're both just so witty and hilarious.
13:07 “THAT IS FUCKEN GAY!” 🤣🤣🤣 That bit always makes me laugh! Great reaction video gentleman!
Same for me, I didn’t really like the writing style BUT the characters, the dialogue and the mails 🫣😱 I just fell in love 🥰😍
Same here!
The writing style was not the best, imo. Sometimes some sentence structures or wording annoyed me a little 😅
But the development of the story, the growth of the characters, their relationship to each other, not just Alex and Henry but all the secondary characters too, was amazing.
It's a very enjoyable read, imho
I’ll be honest, I think I personally appreciated the book much more after I watched the movie? Because I didn’t hate the book, but I’d rate it as 7/10. However, in comparison to the movie, the book is *amazing*
"What I don't wanna see is no Will Ferrell" PREACH!
Im a 16 year old bisexual and I've never felt more like comforted watching a RUclips video than this one 😭. Also you guys are hilarious
''im actually drooling'' that is way too real😭😭
"Am I Miguel? I think I'm Miguel." 🤣🤣
This is the best reaction video I've seen!! Exactly how I felt as a queer person watching this. ❤
Two of the best reaction lines ever spoken
"He's in"
"He doesn't need to douche he's cleansed by God".
I love watching TV with you guys.
Hope you guys react to Queen Charlotte.
You two guys are adorable ..your reactions are the best ..ive watched it at least 12 times now just LOVE Alex
Haven't you noticed that Nicolas looks like a grown up prince George.
You guys are a blast, please never change. " your royal hardness" and the fan got me howling. On that note I am waiting for the first British royal to come out.
I was so eager to see your completely full length unfiltered reaction that I joined the Patreon :)
I just did the same thing!!! Joined Patreon for this.
I love that Henry is an aggressive btm, going after what he wants
The book truly is beautiful, and I really recommend it as a read. The movie was a great romcom but the book has so much more depth in the characters. You get to see more of Alexs struggle with his sexuality, Henry's struggle with his grief over his father and the dynamics of his family. Hell, let's not forget the fact that Alex has a sister, who is a badass who we love. And we get to learn a lot more about Henrys sister too.
Please read the book! Like I said, the movie is a great romcom, but the book holds so much more.
This has become my comfort (re)watch!
Mine too❤
I always come back here for good laugh after a hard day. You guys are hilarious and I'm staying for long. Subscribed!
I love how you both allow yourselves to be part of the movie. So often in reactions people step on parts of the show and I liked how it went back and forth from the movie to you two.
Oh and Miguel! I swear he's the Disney Evil Queen of the movie.
So glad you guys are reacting to this movie! Can't wait for part 2! ❤
I enjoyed the book. It was a cheesy romance and I like cheesy romances. Not everything needs to be serious and high brow.
You two always make me howl with laughter. Great job!
I've been waiting for your reactions to this movie. Love seeing you guys being shooked, speechless, hot & bothered and even drooling. Great reactions guys. Can't wait to see part 2 reactions. Well done.
17:05 (with the very much erect Lincoln obelisk in the background) perfectly symbolizes Alex’s state of mind in this scene…😆
Oups: it’s the Washington Monument I’m referring to. The Lincoln Monument is not quite as evocative in that respect…
I've been waiting for your reaction!!!! Cannot wait!! I've probably watched this movie 50 times already. I need a support group.
been watching you guys for a while and it’s so nice to see how much the production value has upped, congrats guys !
WAIT I just realized we didn't get your reaction to "I thought Alexander Gabriel Claremont-Diaz was a mouthful." "He is." WE NEED IT
Guys, I absolutely loved your reactions.
(Also, I love how Nora became a joined character of Nora and June, given they supposedly become a couple in that bonus chapter)
@@SeattleSandro
Omg you guys truly are the best. This reaction had me hysterical and emotional. Ok. Gotta join you in Patreon
The amount of blushing and sweating in this video I can't 😂
Who else waited for part 2 to come out before binge watching both parts of the reaction? 🙋♂️
🤣😘
thank you for splitting the reaction in two parts! it would have been way too rushed if it was all in one video imo
Definitely one of your best videos so far! Loved the humour and the serious observations being balanced. ❤
I can't wait to part 2!!!!
I love the way you two were blushing!! OMG ♥️♥️♥️
And btw I had the same reaction as Alex at those scenes (sorry my english is bad😅)
LOVE 😁❤️
I heard you question if one of them was an aquarius. Henry is a pisces and Alex is an aries. Also I VERY much loved the book. You get a lot more depth to the characters, more angst, and more slow burn from enemies to fwb to lovers.
what do you mean part 1 omg cant wait for part two, love you both!!
I literally spit my drink out laughing when the reporter showed up and you were like "they fucked" before he barely said anything. 🤣
First time here and oh lord you guys are hilarious! Thank you ❤
I’ve watched your Patreon reaction in full twice and here I am again. I just can’t get enough 😂😂 I’m so glad you enjoyed this!!
I didn’t realize there was a part two, now I’m stranded.
