I'm the exact same way. I learn from the experiences of others. One of my (white) classmates in college wanted to get married to her boyfriend. She said if he doesn't propose I'm leaving the country. All of her class projects were about teaching overseas and learning new cultures, etc. That dude proposed within a few weeks and they were married by the end of that year. You have to make them understand that you will move on and if they really want you to stay, they will step up. They've been married over 10 years w/ 3 kids doing well.

I’ve been engaged twice and they proposed within a year of dating! Their exes were women who stayed with them for over 4 years. Yeah absolutely not and my dad would’ve stepped in for sure! As for myself, I simply got cold feet 😅.
Later met my husband through my dad, married 9 years. He’s 37 and I’m 29, pregnant with our first child. We decided to put off children to enjoy our marriage without children. These most recent seasons of "Divorce Court," the majority of women are baby mamas, 2, 3, 4 times over by one man, been together for 5,6,7+ years and now all of a sudden they want a ring.

It’s sad. I agree. Men are very clear with their actions and reveal their intentions about you in their statements, back handed jokes, and comments. He knew he wasn’t going to take this relationship seriously from the beginning. Having a man’s child before marriage will most likely guarantee not getting married. Her only option is to end the relationship and raise their child as a single parent.
