- We visited a #sustainable initiative called @Zipline1 in #Omenako in #Ghana. This company once started in the USA and is now active in several countries in #Africa, delivering medicine to remote areas in Africa with drones. These deliveries are not only more sustainable due to #zeroemissions, but also a lot quicker and cheaper.
In this video, we introduce this inspiring #initiative and show you the process.

The well thought modular design of the drones and the professional way of handling all was great to see. ❤
How nice to see such a peaceful use of this modern drones. Man, how I like this !❤
The drones fly fully autonomous with a range of roughly 120km single way. But they don’t fly a straight line as they follow the elevation of the ground, “highway’s” made by operators
Wow! I had no idea that something like this exist outside some prototypes. Do the drones fly automatically or do they have operators at all times? What is the operational radius?
They are fully autonomous and can go ten miles en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zipline_(drone_delivery_company)
They are autonomous and have a range of 160km round trip so 80km operational radius.
They can even deploy their own parachute or abort the flight and return back to the distribution center in the rare event that there are multiple malfunctions or the weather is very bad (only ~2% of all flights are aborted or use the parachute)
Very, very impressive ! Thank you for this !
Very impressive.
This is next level!💪
Wow echt bijzonder!
Ik heb dit project een keer eerder voorbij zien komen, maar nu is er veel meer uitleg erbij.
Wat een tof systeem. Super high-tech 😮
We can’t even keep the renal unit in korle bu open
You guys are awesome, keep doing great
Wow this is really amazing! So clever and well designed. Seems really good scaling as well. Wonder how they managed to catch these returning drones.

so wondeful
They are not using a "zipline" to drop the packages, they are just dropping them, one with a 3 yr old boy in the yard another almost hit a dog. Maybe theyre trying to keep the aircraft from being damaged by citizens but theyre putting human life in harms way and WILL kill someone. Im glad the FAA is alright with this
The system in this video uses a droge to slow it down so is going relatively slowly by the time it gets to ground level (as they do not want to damage the contents of their package) so whilst not ideal it shouldn't hurt anyone, additionally the accuracy is good enough for it to drop off in a fenced off area if the customer has one
They are using a Zipline to catapult the drone into the air at cruising speed.
Regarding the packages, IIRC the drones have a carrying capacity of about 1.6 kg which lands in a carton slowed with a parachute. As far as I saw, the packages are dropped in a small area and are announced, so the area can be easily cleared for the drop.
This means it would be the fault of the parents/owners if the package falls on their child/pet due to not clearing the drop area or not defining a better drop area. It is obvious what will happen.
You're so right. While we're at it, lets ban car deliveries too. I mean delivery drivers can steal your package, they can hit dogs or kids in the street on accident, they can even drive drunk and crash into your house, and who knows if they're criminals or not? These risks are unacceptable. We need to return to using carts and horses. But then those horses can kick people too and might panic and hurt someone... hmmm... maybe deliveries should be done on foot. Sarcasm by the way in case that didn't come across. You're an idiot. If we banned every new technology based entirely on minimal, hypothetical risks we'd never do anything.
