This is scary talent times 2! The pianist...I was instantly thinking Hiromi Uehara and Yoyoka always keeps impressing. What a brilliant Tour de Force, perfect match. The piece has hard Drum´nBass vibes too + the Jazz - crazy stuff.

Precise 11 yr old song originator piano playing. Yoyoka has significantly broadened her music play and genre. She is reading music now, so her horizon is off-the-chart.

I'm such a huge fan of this. It's Ai's song. That 7/8 ostinato slaps so hard. There is a Japanese band called Mouse on the Keys that I think is a big influence here. And you know, Tigran Hamasyan and such. It would be a huge injustice to the world of prog and jazz if these two don't do a proper EP.

Ive made this comment on the original video, i think. Ai reminds me of Joey Alexander at that age. Just a few years ago LOL. Funny enough, Yoyoka's groove reminds me a little of Ulysses Owens, Joey's drummer on many of his recordings. Seriously, Check out Giant Steps or CIty Lights (Joey original composition). You're a musician, you'll be blown away.

Yoyoka got so experimental with her solo and you could feel she was feeling it out. If she spends a few weeks/months dwelling on that she'll be getting into Larnell Lewis type skillset.

Oh wow WAVE! How amazing. an 11 y.o. Asian girl that is crazy good at piano. You can see YOYOKA thinking about what's for dinner (2:29), then all of a sudden (2:34) she comes right back when she knows she is needed. I wonder if Asian parents are tired of funding 10+ years of classical music lessons on pianos and violins, just to find out on a more and more regular basis that their kids don't really like classical music that well, and end up doing something like this or like all the members in (BandMaid, Lovebites, Nemopila and many other bands), and if there is any guilt or shame that they (or their parents) put upon themselves. I feel like it is certainly probable. I imagine that this kit belongs to the Coffee house that hosted them when she was in Japan, and they requested her signature on the drum. Generally when you ask her for her signature (and she has time) she automatically adds all the artwork. Boketo comes first, then the drums, then whatever else she feels like drawing. She said, not that long ago, "I don't know how to play jazz". When she said that (I think it was on her monthly Patreon Zoom call), we all laughed because she had already played a few jazz tunes here and there. But honestly, I think that the Oakland School of Performing arts really either took her in that direction, or supported her in that direction. Because only 6-8 months later she's doing this kind of stuff. She was learning the double bass at school, which I'm sure played some part in the process seing that as far as I know, this is one of the main styles of music for that particular instrument. This is setting the stage for her to someday do a drumming duo with Senri, seeing that Senri as at the highest level of this style and Jazz Fusion. Prior to now neither of them really played similar styles or genres much. To use Stock Market terms, her skills have gone parabolic, to the MOON baby! The coffee bar wasn't closed. That was the typical Japanese crowd reaction to an awesome performance. LOL
