    The Motion: This House Believes The West Has No Right to Impose Environmental Standards on Developing Countries
    Paul Bledsoe continues the case for the opposition, as the fourth speaker of six in the debate.
    President of Bledsoe & Associates, a global public policy firm specialising in climate change. He is a former fellow of the Oxford University Centre for the Environment, and was a senior figure in President Clinton’s Climate Change Task Force.
    The motion was defeated.

    Energy storage? Batteries made from mined components for a Tesla weigh about 500 kg/80kWh.
    Imagine the size of production in a nickel mine. Smelting will require much energy and the extraction of ore will also be significant. Cadmium pollution will be deadly.

    Sir, the fact is, we have FAILED. We have already done this enormous, irreversible harm, that we cannot return with the global economic model, that we have today and it will persist... We all know that.

    Am I an idiot or did he argue in favour of the proposition when he gave credit to these developing countries for what they’ve done independently

      You are both right and wrong.
      Right since many govts. prioritize environment and environmental regulation and wrong because many others do not.
      Mining just one example...need I say more?

      he categorizes that extending energy to some at the cost of a global disaster is more than human self-destruction; it is poor investment for the worlds future - insanity - nihilism, apocalypse seeking - rejection of a deeper principal to continue human existence, improving the quality of the entire ecosystem with which human livelihood is established.
