[Love in Flames of War 良辰好景知几何] In the early part of the 20th Century, the Republic of China is struggling to establish itself, with the Imperial Japanese posing a growing threat to Chinese sovereignty. Against this backdrop, Xiao Bei Chen (Shawn Dou), a hotheaded teenager is growing up fast. I like how even the secondary characters were well casted + excellently portrayed in this Chinese Drama.
Lady/Aunt Qi was a beautiful soul; actress Dong Xuan, with her kind, sweet face, played the character superbly.
Also, the actor that portrayed Instructor Du, made the role his own.
I am working at the airport and I meet Chinese and Japanese people from time to time as I have to speak to them. It is my job to do so. My boss always told me: "be careful how you speak to Chinese people about Japan there is bad blood between these two nations. " I never understood why. Now I think I know why. This drama explained it for me.
I don't know how I came about this video but it just pop out on my screen. I took my time to watch everything from the 1st to 43rd episode.
I want to say well done to all who participated in this drama.👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 from the scriptwriter to the director and the actors and everyone who made this drama possible. I have learned a lot for my life experience. I cried so much in this drama and said to myself I am grateful to be born in this area.

I really admired and loved the characters of Xiao Beichen(Shawn Dou) who will do everything for the one he loves. How lucky is Hangjing to have an husband like him. Very devoted and lovable to his wife, very protective to his family, and a good friend to Weiyi and Zijun From the beginning to the end Beichen makes me satisfied. An excellent actor.
I salute to the director, writer, actors and actresses and all the staff to make this an excellent drama.
All in all I can say that this drma is outstanding and beautiful. There are many things to learned on this. Telling the world that we dont need to be arrogant, selfish, and do not seek power. All we need is love, peace, and unity for the beautiful world.

Beichen says in one of the first episodes that a woman like Hanjing would fall in love once and forever so if she fell in love with him he would not have to tell her how he felt. As it turns out, he was talking about himself, it was he who would fall in love once and love forever.
Shawn Dou made this drama good, entertaining + heartbreaking.
Also love Aunt/Lady Qi, portrayed by Dong Xuan, whom is the prettiest actress in the show.
Glad FL was the person whom killed the vicious, evil girl; revenge for her aborted baby.

The love stories between lovers, friends and family are sooooo good. It stole the hearts of the audience. The settings and costumes are also so beautiful and well thought out. It helps to see the English subtitle, but when the English overlaps the Chinese writing, it made impossible to read. Although I enjoy the story, I have say, the biggest problem of this show is the distortion of the history. It depicted the communist party as the saver and hope for China and the Republican party is corrupt, but we all know after the communists took over china, millions people died from either persecution, torture, or famine under the ruling of Mao. If not because of June 4 Tien An Man event, people in china's eyes opened and became daring to demand for change, China would still be in the iron curtain regime. Many of these shows all have the same undertone message to paint Communists were the ones fought the Japanese and the local gurus but in fact the communists took advantage of the Japanese invasion grew its weaponry power by deceiving the Republicans party; The Republican party had to clean up the dynasty remain, dealt with the local military gurus, faced Japanese invasion, and tried to establish China into a Republican. The communists dragged the legs of the Republicans, just like what they are doing in the USA politics. It's the same strategy - if you see college students protest, labors go on strike, overturning history and tradition, and violence, you can be sure that's the work of the communists. If you paint a wrong picture for the history, then, history will repeat itself. I doubt now the people in China, after experience good live, will be willing to go back to the hellish live during the time of Mao's ruling.

Hangjing believes anything anyone says except Beichen. and she keep repeating he does not trust her. I feel the pain Beichen is facing in this drama. I am in so much love with this character Beichen is playing.
EP 31 : so much pain for Beichen. I have never ever cried this much on a TV drama. Not even for a personal reason in my entire life. crying for him.
EP 34 : From the moment Beichen saw her he knew she is Hangjing but she kept lying until she fell in the hole she created around her lies. At this moment Hangjing acts as a con artist always lying she is not who she is. Just because she changed her hairstyles, dress ups, places and event to support her lies as proofs. It reminds me of some criminals who thinks they are smarter than the people around. if they realize people are not fool around them then they lie harder. Its hard to believe that Beichen still loved her so much with all her flaws.
EP 37 : Aunt Qi's way of showing Hanjun around the house in a way that she could not escape the fact to know and realize who really is she, more she lies more she falls deeper in the hole she created for herself.
EP 38 : Finally she admits sheng Hanjun is Lin Hangjing. as if, is she does not admit she can fool people who already know who she is. she is such a cheater that she is standing on my nerve at this time.
Ep 41 : Blinded by hatred and burning to take revenge with Beichen this gorgeous girl Fenqqi can't even see whose side she should had been at such critical time of the era. Seeing her beauty and nothing to do with her brain I have to disregard all those without the brain.
This is my third time watching but I still cry a lot. Love Shawn Dou and his acting a lot.

I just finished watching this drama and it was so touching too much emotions and the actors played their parts so well. This drama shows the devastating effect of war to humanity.. I am not satisfied with the ending thou, wished the main characters met at the end and had their share of joy and happiness, after all they had gave and suffered so much unselfishly.

She just lost her child, a child her husband doesn't want and is only begrudgingly 'accepting', a child he had already threatened with abortion. She clearly does trust her husband because she didn't suspect him at first even though it would have been the logical conclusion.
The ending is really unacceptable. It's such a pity that she didn't tell beichen that she is pregnant. And at the end they didn't reunited. ..

Why didn’t Hangjing come to Beichan and cry on his shoulder (or into his chest) after she lost the baby instead of running away? She should’ve shared her feelings including her sadness with Beichan.
Plus why did Hangjing have to go out on a limb for Zuzeng every time (even if he was her friend), who was more important to her him or Beichan? It would’ve been nice to see Hangjing do something for Beichan for a change, why didn’t they include something like that in the series?
