Bro Hal is a good super villain. He did not care for anyone, not even Roxanne. He said it himself “you try to see the good in people even though it’s not there.” He was never a good person to begin with, he just wanted Roxanne as a personal possession and prize. And the scary part about Hal is there are people like him in the real world.

This is something interesting, but when Megamind and Minion knocked Hal out in his apartment, there’s a book next to him called “Best Comic Book Villains Ever”. In a way, it’s rather ironic considering how twisted he is in the movie.

not really, you can see from their interaction in the very beginning that they were actually fine as coworkers, or she wouldn't have engaged in such a friendly manner with him like she did. Hal just seemed like the awkward nerd in the beginning, you didn't get the creep vibe until that moment in his party invitation where he says it would just be them. THAT'S when the warning bells started going off, and everything after was what revealed him to be a creep.

I love that even though both Megamind and Hal were sad after she rejected them, Megamind still respected her as a person, treated her like a friend and saved her because he didn't want her to get hurt. He understood that lying to her was wrong and he saved her even if she doesn't want to be with him after that because his feelings for her were real. While Hal was promising her that he will protect her but he only meant it if she decides to be his girlfriend. When he realized that she really doesn't want to be with him whether he was a hero or not, he was violent and he didn't care if she's going to get hurt and even tried to hurt her himself. Because he only saw her as a prize and didn't really care about her as a person.
There is this channel run by psychologists who see movies and talk about the psychology behind them and they talk about the nice guy syndrome that's what they call it, which is when a guy or even gals are kind to someone simply for the benefit or in his case to win Roxane aka the nice guy syndrome and then there's the kind man/ woman which is when a man is simply kind just for being kind not to get anything in return.

She might never have admitted it but im sure she enjoyed all the tech and brilliance he displayed, even if it was goofy and ridiculous. Megaminds confusion to finding out that they never dated was priceless and precious. Its kinda really sad that Megaminds first friendly hug was when he was in disguise with Roxanne. Also, him listening to what she wanted to see and do, some of which he might never have done himself like seeing the art gallery (to realize he needed to return the paintings) or going to the park for a picnic.....bruh been STARVED of just plain friendship since he was little save for Minion, and was never admired for his natural gifts like Metroman was since the tech could malfunction alot. Realizing how lonely he was and starved of positive attention felt like a punch to the gut for me.
That scene of him throwing a temper tantrum after Roxanne rejected him never failed to make me cringe and I am so glad she has enough sense to always turn him down
