I like and even love UBC. I just don't agree with outright lies and propaganda. Too many have been misled. Many young people esp. artists are leaving Van.

Academically, UBC is rather good; however, when compared to all of its opponents around the world, its 42nd place ranking seems to be well.

***** Definitely join the physics society. We have a lounge which is a great place to group study or just study in general. Also that's how you'll meet the other people in your program. Campus is pretty much its own city. Food's super expensive though. Downtown Vancouver's about 40 minutes away by bus. Great city.

Hey John, I'm at UBC and I produced the video... So you know, the Forensics Dept at UBCO (featured in the video) uses glass boards and markers. BTW, we didn't use an outside agency for this; it was entirely an in-house effort by a team of dedicated UBC students. We wanted it to be as authentic as possible; we certainly didn't want to "lie" to anyone. If you have any other questions please don't hesitate to reach out to my colleagues at UBC Studios. @@JJ-go5tg They assess your portfolio and grades and based on merits you're offered a merit-based scholarship. there's also a need based one but you need to apply separately for that and your High school is required to nominate you for the scholarship. UBC is just magic you can make come true for yourself. Make the commitment, have the desire, dream a dream ... then head for UBC to start making it come true. Been there, done it, live it, LOVE the university. My family has been part of it for over 100 years.
My dream school! I’m living in the US but I really want to study in Canada especially in UBC. I’m only in middle school but I hope I will still be able to go there in a few years. ( 5 more grades till 12th. I’m in 6th grade but the year is about to end.)

I don't know why, but I like to imagine myself as a student of Mechanical engineering at UBC . Dreams ar big. At Bangladesh, it is almost impossible to get a good scholarship of UBC in desired subject. Lets see what happen. but the feelings ar just real man

you apply to a faculty (arts, science, forestry...) and then in 2nd or 3rd year you choose a major.

hi, thanks for the great video. I had one question. so I've already graduated from high school in the states. i moved to the state 3 years ago with no english. i couldn't take any Ib classes but i have a gPa of 3.6 and my junior year and senior year grades were 4.0 and 3.8, I am currently studying for the STA and ps. i played soccer in the states and have some awards for that too such as MPV
of the season and most goals in the league. do you think i have a good chance of getting in by your experience ?

i spent my undergrad at UBC from 2005-2009. at that time, it cost me around $750/credit just for the tuition fee. i wonder how much is it now for the international student?

Ten years ago, I asked the Board of Governors, the President of UBC and the Chancellor, to address the high level of misdemeanors on it's streets. They contacted the City of Vancouver, which fixed the traffic planning disaster near the bookstore. They also hired a traffic official. The current high level of misdemeanors, resulted in a student having her throat slashed and a rape chant. Make no mistake, Canadian Universities are hotbeds of lawlessness. I speak of course of traffic laws. Criminal behaviour is the specialty of police, but Velocitization and the cyclical, freewheeling family phenomenon, have compromised all of our educational facilities. A brief look at the UBC bike rush hour compliance for helmets and stop signs, is a excellent example. Street credibility for underage drinking, is a key component for most American university's lawlessness, street credibility at UBC has a lot to do with anonymity. The blatant ignoring of the Motor Vehicle Act of British Columbia, at the University of British Columbia, is a provincial disgrace. How dare the university say it is a center for international study, when the Road Safety Office at the World Health Organization, says that law-abiding streets and highways are long overdue in Canada? Why therefore not at our provincial university? Is there a problem with corruption? Welcoming students to the university with a commencement speech, the students are not told about the lack of law, at it's facilities. Then the students are terrified by dangerous drivers or cyclists. My personal favorite is the Double B line drivers speeding down Tenth Avenue. Beautiful! The University wants to be rid these diesel buses, but is stuck with these Velocitized professional drivers, from Coast Mountain Bus Company. Reminds me of the BC Transit Bus drivers in Victoria ignoring stop signs. The freewheeling capital city phenomenon. Nice! Good luck with our lawless disgrace at the University of British Columbia!

Studying hard to get good grades to get into a top university is not a privilege. It is a drive, dedication, motivation, ambition... definitely NOT a privilege. Asians get hired because of their qualifications. Asians aren't stealing jobs from people who don't fulfill the qualifications. The people who don't get hired for the job because they aren't qualified weren't even in the game because they didn't fulfill the requirements.
Stop trying to diminish Asian success. No one handed our success to us. We earn it.
