I'm 72 yrs. old and have been lifting weights off and on my whole life, although not for the past 7-8 yrs. due to various surgeries. I'm back at and started by doing the same old routine I have been doing for all those years. I found your RUclips videos, and I am amazed at how much more effective they have been for me. Absolutely amazing. Thank you, and you have a great sense of humor, which I thoroughly enjoy. Keep up the good work.
I'm closing in on 72 here shortly. Been at it purely as a way of life choosing fitness. Ryan is a smart guy and knows how much difference angles and applications can make.
Hey Ryan - please can you do more Videos on nutrition would love to hear your no BS views on diets and cheat meals etc - I think everyone would love it
@@lots3799 have you tried beef before? And do you know markus rühl?- he has a tuturial to a tuna Protein shake...tastes as bad as it sounds but goes down easily
I'm a truck driver. I've got dumbbells. Also do bodyweight exercises. I use alot of your exercises. You explain in great detail. Thanks keep up videos.
I have never gotten tips that so effectively help me to engage every single muscle group. Things that are so simple, but that I've never considered doing. Can't overstate the benefit of these videos, for me. Thank you, sir!!
👍I also recognized that at some exercises it benefits when you lean the body in the curl or out. But you are the only one on RUclips (at my knowledge) who talks about that. 👍
I was doing great with some of your workouts and at age 72 was keeping good muscle mass and strength; but, I tore the supraspinatus tendon and the long head bicep tendon. This happened May 1, 2023. I am recovering quickly to the amazement of my doctor and PT. Looks like I am gonna have to rethink my workout strategies.
Thanks Ryan. You've helped me realise that you don't need to do these sometimes uncomfortable exercises in the classic way. You just need to figure out a way that works for you and that stresses the muscle. Cheers.
Thanks for keeping your videos short and to the point. I hate when a channel has some 5 minute solution to something but takes 28 minutes to explain it.
I've noticed that too. His face looks rounder too, which is a sign of higher estrogen that causes water retention. The guy is on steroids. He probably increased his dose to maintain the size. I know that stuff because that's what I do.
Man. It's amazing how something so stupid simple can hurt so bad. I love how Ryan breaks down the mechanics to completely destroy the muscle. Like at 1:40 where he explains focus flexing the bicep, and then flexing the wrist at the end of the extension. I wouldn't have thought that performing these with my little weights would make the mong head of my tricep feel so swole 😳
If you've got a dumbell that has a seperate bar from the weights you could put the plates at 1 side of the bar and grip the side of the bar that has no plates when doing overhead extensions. The weight being at the lowest points puts extra stress on the muscle and I feel that because the weight is at a lower point than normal it pulls your arm backwards and that keeps my arm better in place when doing overheads.
Hey Ryan, great videos about manipulating the leverage points, and placing the muscles at a disadvantage to traumatize the shit out of them!! Yes, and I too would like to hear about your advice (macro -wise) on nutrition, and what you recommend for hard-gainers, and athletic pops to practice to enhance their lean-mass quotient over the top?? Also, do you recommend a protein daily total in grams, to meet the protein synthesis requirements for your workouts?? Thanks brother...
I kind of like you and your videos, you are kind of in your face coach...and that's what I need I tend to procrastinate but not with you! I'm all over your video and dead serious about getting in shape! Thanks Ryan.you are the "Man"!
For sure In France 🇫🇷 we are in quarantaine until may 11 and our gymclub (+ restaurant, cinema, bar, concert, festival...) will not open before july 15th 😐. There is even talk of an opening for September💀. I'm going to buy a home gym 😕 and probably cancel my subscription.
Hi Ryan. Great video about using light weights. Would you please do a video of using resistance bands? With the gym closed, I'm reduced to borrowing my wife's resistance bands
Hey Ryan, thanks for the video, great content. I really appreciate it. I will be doing these tonight. I’ve been doing all the work outs you’ve given us, and have had great results. I’ve worked out all my life since I was fifteen, I’m forty three now, but I’ve always had an imbalance issue with my triceps. My left outer tricep is bigger than my right and I tried doing a little more on the right to get it to catch up but it’s not working. What can I do to make them more evenly matched? I’m also ambidextrous if that matters
Kicked off my last round of the day with this one..always appreciate the details + these great breakdown videos, have made my Powerblocks worth every penny!
Hey Ryan. Love the videos. Straight to the point, logical, and surprisingly funny. I have a question though. I’ve been lifting for a year now, and recently every time I try to work on chest it feels like I’m only really engaging the outside of my pec near the arm pit (that’s usually what’s sore the next day too). How do I hit the inside of my pec? Even flies seem to hit the outside too.
I understand your intention with keeping tension in the muscle the entire time, but to me I don’t see why you wouldn’t lock out because for the tricep, the lockout portion of the movement is actually the peak contraction for the triceps. So I don’t see a tension loss when locked out at the elbow unless I’m 100% parallel with gravity. So if you aren’t entirely vertical at the top, you can still lockout at the top and the tension is arguably enhanced because you are at peak contraction under load. Just my opinion through study and repetition. Keep up the great vids
Because that lockout is momentary rest whether you know it or not. Yeah feels like your at the end and can feel a squeeze, but you're really giving it a break from the load. Even if for a moment.
Hey Ryan, I have read issues with an arthritic shoulder, I can’t do too much of the overhead triceps work. Can you show us how to do a reverse grip dumbbell triceps (bench) press that really works the tri? I do them now but think I could use some help on the form to maximize the triceps. Thanks.
David you might want to try the resistance band tricep exercise where you lie on the floor on your back with the top of your head facing a closed door which has resistance bands attached to a door stopper at the base of the door. Pull the resistance bands under tension with your palms facing away from the door. Your tricep muscles are more or less on the floor while you pull forwards - this burns those triceps!
