Hi, what a lovely review. You showed and spoke about all the useful things one could wish to know about this bag. Add to that you natural friendly style and you get a thumbs up from me. I have just ordered the max lite 5 spinner slim in slate green. Looking foward to seeing it. I had a samsonite, but our little town had some flooding and my lovely case ended up under 1.5. metres of dirty, muddy water. I will probably look for a tote that is a little smaller but can fit more securely over their small spinner. I am in Italy, so if you have any suggestions it would be most welcome.
Thanks for reviewing this. I like it because it’s very efficient for packing. Doesn’t waste space. Sure would like a laptop slot, but I guess wrapping in clothes works…until I have to pull it out for TSA. I ended up using mine as my checked luggage. I’m the opposite of most travelers. I carry more into the cabin than I check through. My checked luggage is for extra shoes, jeans, shirt, and sleeping gear (fleece for cold rooms and sweatpants for sleeping). And the roughly 22L here is enough, if barely. Yeah I also like to mount mine on my 22” wheelie handle so I can take the subway instead of a taxi. I don’t like the shoulder strap only because it gets caught or dangles, the hand strap is enough. I cut up a foam camping pad and laid it in the bottom. If eBags thinks this will squash under a seat they are nuts, I tried it, only a little on the handle side would squeeze under.
Chris, I really enjoy your videos. I think you've definitely found a nice niche here. Would definitely like to see a video one day of your collection of all of your various bags.
@@ChrisU Definitely! Could be a good re-occurring video idea with updates every once in a while to your collection and can probably also be broken up into the types of bags that you have. Just some more ideas haha
I own this bag and have used it for a long time on many flights. The biggest problem over time is the trolley sleeve that fits over your spinner has pulled out of shape. It makes your spinner out of balance and fall forward. Otherwise, it's a good decent sturdy bag.
Hi Bepperoni! My wife just used this bag for a personal item on Delta and American Airlines. She really likes the bag and prefers it now over using a backpack. I'm still not a huge fan of how the bag connects to the handle of rolling luggage, but it worked so I can't really complain too much : ) Overall positive first experience using this bag. That looks really wide compared to the roller. I think the roller is 7.75 wide and the tote is 8. I would rather have the tote a little narrow and higher to make it easier to walk with it. Is there a problem walking with the tote by your side? Can you walk normally?

Hey davgee! I've not personally used this bag on a Spirit flight so I can't say for sure it will work. But, for comparison, I've used The North Face Base Camp Duffel XS on both Spirit and Frontier with no issues. The bags are comparable in size. Also, I know it's not Spirit, but my wife used this bag as her personal item on Delta and AA a few months back. With that being said, as long as I didn't over pack the bag I would feel confident using the Travelpro as my personal item on a Spirit flight. Take care!

I know you mentioned that it could be used that way, I'm wanting something maybe about 30-40% smaller than this one. Do you have any recommendations? I looked at the TLS companion duffel and I really like it but it looks too big. Oh, and a main requirement is that it have a panel on the back so it can slide over my carry on handle.
Thank you shredman59! Normally I would recommend a smaller backpack like the REI Ruckpack 18 or even a bag from Patagonia or The North Face. But none of those will have the panel on the back you need. AwayTravel has some smaller bags but they are on the expensive side. I have their Carry-On spinner, which I really like. Anther option if you went backpack, or even a smaller messenger/shoulder bag, may be to use something like the Travelon Bag Bungee. You can find them on Amazon for around $12-$15. I've not used one though so not sure how well they work. I wish I had a better recommendation. You've peaked my interest so I may have to do some research now : )
@@ChrisU Thanks the everywhere bag from away bag is pretty close (just a little big) but it kind of looks like a purse to me. I'm still looking. My purpose is just to have a bag on the plane with my ipad, bose headphones, battery pack, cables and snacks, passport, etc. All the stuff I need to access on the place without going into my main carry on. With your help, I've narrowed my carryon choices to the TravelPro Maxlite 5 22, TravelPro 5 19" international spinner, or the TLS 21 Mini Motherlode.

My go to personal item has been the North Face Base Camp Duffel XS. Not a lot of organization but has given me some versatility in packing. I'd be interested to hear which bags you decide on.
shredman59, have you looked at the eBags Professional series backpacks? Appears they have a lot of the features you mention. The Professional Slim Junior Laptop Backpack is one of their smaller bags. Also some larger ones.

I found the Everest deluxe utility bag which is the exact size I want but doesn’t have a pass through to attach to the carryon. But if I get the tls mother lode mini 21 it has an attachment in the front for a small bag.
