I’ve had to cut mine down one side about maybe 80-85% of the way. Then I used rubber bands around the mold that fit around it snug but not too tight too avoid mis-shaping the mold before pouring
@marion | Glowed how many pours do you get from a silicone mold before needing to replace it? I’ve seen mixed messages on Google searches where ppl say it can last for several years and another person states they only last half a dozen times. I’m thinking only 6 pours each mold is scary considering how expensive a single mold can be
It really depends on the moulds. It is a bit of a learning curve but the thinner the mould the more likely it is to break (bubble moulds are horrible for that). Moulds are an investment and good ones don’t come cheap.
Can you pls help me with the scent used..how much to add to wax...and what can I do for when I demould like angels..wings keep breaking..teddy bears ears also..pls can you help me...much obliged and big well done for your beautiful work
I can't be 100% but upto me 10% is the correct percentage of fragrance oil load for soy wax and if candles break you can use additive like stearic acid upto 5% and before unmolding put in fridge for 10 mins
@GlowedCandles thank you for responding. How long do you wait for approximately? Does it have to be completely dry first? And do you spray while the wick is already in?
@brit1339 i never timed it… I prepare my mould first and then get to pouring. I have over 50 moulds so it is a while before the pour, at least 30min and it is before the wick goes in
Hello, if you are making tapper candles it is an excellent choice as long as they are not scented. However for candles made in moulds it is too breakable. Moulded candles require a wax made specifically for pillar candles.
I disagree about not being able to use beeswax in molds because that is what I use 100% and no breakages but beeswax does not hold FO very well so they would have to be FO-free.
Hi! can you please advice which wick to use for acrylic ribbed mold large and medium? I am in UK and I am using TCR wicks, also which wick to use for bubble candle, blind fold candle large, braided mould medium?
There is no answer for this except you need to test and see what works with: - the wax you use - the dye you use (if any) - the fragrance oil % load (if any) Start by measuring your mould diameter and then refer to the TCR size table for reference. Always start with the smaller one and work your way up.
I have a question does the wick matter if you are using different sizes of silicone molds?or do you use the same type of wick but in different sizes? Sorry I'm new at candle-making
Hello, in my experience when you have found a wick serie that works in your wax (and fragrance if you are using it) then you simply need to test the size to achieve the burn that you expect.
When do you add color to the soy wax, after it is melted? And if so, do you stir it to get it to spread around evenly? I am new to candle making this way and I need guidance. Thank you dear. You seem to do this as I would printing my name. I sure could use the help. I want to make candles for everyone at Christmas time. I have these tiny saguaro cacti candles and they are the cutest candles, in green. Now I want to make my own. Stocking stuffers now. Next year tall candles. I think I will start out small with votive candles and I love those silicon bubble candles. You just unmolded one. I want to make blue for my daughter as that is her fave color. Thank you so much for your help.
Hello, You need to had the colour once wax is melted and is still hot (exact temperature is different for each wax brand). Then use a long spoon to stir until it is even. Good luck!
@@GlowedCandles What kind of long spoon is right? Plastic, wooden, metal? I have a metal wax melter with a hot plate. I did not get any special spoons with it. I want a spoon I dedicate to melting wax and color. Or maybe dedicate each spoon for a specific color. How do you do it?
@@GlowedCandles I do not have a heat gun. but a metal spoon I can get by the dozen. I can have one for each color. Can you mix soy wax with bees wax and melt them together?
Hello, you can use a heat gun or your oven on low heat to melt the wax residue. Wipe it with tissue paper and then put the molds into hot soapy water. Let air dry.
Hey, I personally think it is a waste of money to add FO to pillar candles. The melt pool of a pillar candle is never going to be good enough to throw fragrance properly. FO are expensive so I prefer not to.
Hi Marion, Looks amazing!!! And wanted to ask how you don’t have frosting on your candles :) are you pouring at a lowest temperature or keeping the room temperature medium?
For scented candles they are usually pre-soaked for decorative candles I don’t. However the wick will absorb some of the wax and you will need a little top up of wax to reach the top of the mould.
I believe you are referring to the wick sustainer that flies to the bottom of a jar. That metal piece is not an indicator of whether or not a candle can be burn. They are there to hold the wick and allow perfect centering in a vessel.
It depends on the molds. For silicone mold, if you consistently use a needle to thread the wick the wick is enough. For acrylic mold you will defo need something else, I use blue tack.
@@neola1712 no, i don’t. But it is not just soy wax I use soy wax made specifically for pillar candles and that is the key regardless of the wax (soy, coco, paraffin…) it needs to be for pillar candles.

Do you ever have to cut the moulds to get the candle out? Do you have any tips on how to reuse the mould if you end up having to do that?
If needed the mould needs to be cut before pouring in a way that won’t damage the design. And you can reuse them
I’ve had to cut mine down one side about maybe 80-85% of the way. Then I used rubber bands around the mold that fit around it snug but not too tight too avoid mis-shaping the mold before pouring

Hi there! Love your content ❤️ was wondering how many mL wax goes into the large pink molds?
Candle maker never use ml. Wax and FO are measured by mass not volume. So we use grams.

Do you warm your mold? I would try that and pour a tiny bit hotter too

100% Silicone spray
Can you burn this candles? Because there is no metal at the bottom of the candles.
I believe you are referring to the wick sustainer that flies to the bottom of a jar. That metal piece is not an indicator of whether or not a candle can be burn. They are there to hold the wick and allow perfect centering in a vessel.
I've always wondered if it leaks wax or the thread alone stops the wax? Nothing else required at the bottom?
It depends on the molds. For silicone mold, if you consistently use a needle to thread the wick the wick is enough. For acrylic mold you will defo need something else, I use blue tack.
Do you always find the same hole you made for the thread on next pour?
Idk why I tried with small pieces of cast and soy wax just break apart, is it because these are bigger?
There should be nothing in the wax.
