- So today we have another review, and this one is something quite personal, as I have been considering swapping my M3 for one, so today we are taking out a C63 AMG, and yes of course its the 6.2 V8! So lets see what its like...

Thanks to @ollie63amg for lending us the car, so what an animal of a car, I was actually rather surprised about how well this car kept itself straight, after hearing about all the stories on the internet about how they are so dangerous and tail happy!
So will I be getting one? Not sure, lets wait and see.

The naturally aspirated c63's are just savage - I think prices will sky rocket as we get closer to the electric transition

Its not a future classic because so many were produced, the ‘black edition’ however, that’s another story.
@@Tom-tz2jz I disagree - the iconic 6.2 engine will make it a very sought after future classic, particularly as everything transitions to all-electric. Look how many Subaru Impreza's were produced - future classic? Definitely

These cars don't need a pop and bang map... Ruins it.
100% agree! Some slight burbling like a far away thunderstorm suits the car very well in my opinion (the SLS does this from factory) but those distinct and synthetic bangs are just cheap as fuck.
I drive mine in comfort mode most of the time and it doesn't do that. S and S+ are really only needed for racing.

Came here to say the same thats not normal, mine only pops in s/s+ manual if you really wind it up then coast off throttle to slow down, which isn't how you would normally drive it.
As has been said that's a pants map with the extra pops and bangs option ticked lol
Drive a stock one or one with a decent map that just sorts throttle opening restrictions etc
Mate I'm 48 a mechanic of 30 years... Owned my 13 plate for 8yrs...love it. My mate has a M6 never out of the garage.. Never once broken down or missed a beat. Merc engineering is the best....
The sound is amazing! Power delivery is great, but I agree the handling is heavy. Once you get used to it it's a 2 tons of fun! That exhaust has to go. Those pops are annoying af.

The C63 is defo one of my dream cars proper German muscle car. Those pops n bangs were so overkill though 😂

One day the pops and bangs maps will go away, although it’s going to take the chavs a long time to get their heads around it sounding crap.

Monster! What a beast, and a dream car. I'd be getting rid of those pops ASAP though, the car deserves better.
I’ve got the same mods on mine but I had the pops and bangs turned off, to much of a nice car for them.. I agree with him saying it’s not to much of a handful ✌🏻

I have a silver c63, before I got it I had ideas of decat tune etc, once I got it I decided to leave it stock, no need for modifications, this car is insane as is, drives a dream and sounds oh so good.
i’ve got fully catless x pipe headers and flame tune and it rlly does make it better in every way sound speed more fun
I love the sound of the exhaust not to sure on all the pops and crackles bit to much. Tricky driving on the round about
I’ve got a 530hp c63 coupe near warrington if you wanna try that next time your back up this way, it’s still got primaries in so not as loud as that one and also not got pops mapped in 😂

Great review bud, was smiling all the way through! Just wanna touch on the reliability though as they aren’t as bulletproof as everything thinks. They’ve got some major horror stories with such things like injectors jam open, head bolts snap on the early ones, camshaft wear issues and middle oil pan leaks. If you can deal with all these things they are amazing to own!
All of those issues are very rare especially in Europe. With correct maintenance which you should practice on any of these cars you won't encounter any of these issues
@@zacwilliams457 I've never owned one, but my friend who is a mechanic and car inspector says a lot of them have oil pan leaks and drink a huge amount of oil. still want one though. even though in sweden gas prices are 18kr per L.
which is insane, its almost 2 dollars a Litre
@@gemberss as a mechanic you're only ever going to see the ones that go bad, so I guarantee for every 10 he sees with oil pan leaks there are 200 running without oil pan leaks, it's about perspective. I have many friends that have them and I own one myself, no oil leaks at all. Yes they drink oil, it's a 6.2L V8 that runs very hot so oil consumption will happen. My advice, get one and enjoy the massive grin on your face every time you turn the key
@@zacwilliams457 i agree on some parts, but he’s not only a mechanic. He’s an inspector and one of the best in the country. He sees 100’s of cars every day, he also has orher friends in different shops and when he says something i trust him. I usually ask him about cars that i want to buy and always bring him with me whenever i buy something. He said they have a problem, but the biggest concern was they drink oil.
I do however love this car so for me i wont care about the oil consumption part that much. The only reason i haven’t bought this yet is simply because i can’t afford to spend so much gas every week. Gas in sweden is expensive as fk! Top 5-10 in the world.
Agree with the silver comments in the video. Mines silver, my least favourite colour but it was just too good of a car to pass up.

How would you compare the lexus isf (2011-2014) to the mercedes c63 amg (facelift)? I'm torn between the two. The lexus has better handling and the transmission shifts faster whereas the amg has a sluggish gearbox.
Apart from the asbo pop and bangs this sounds pure savage🔥

Are the pops from the tune? Very annoying as my Kleemann K2 doesn't sound like that. Then again, I'm not at 560 BHP.

The 63 is in heritage of the 300 SEL 6.3 (M100) and I think that in Germany you have to round it up but I’m not 100% sure on that!
I'm pretty sure the rounding up I'm Germany is the reason. There's many engines like it e.g. diesels Audi 4134cc V8, VW 4921cc V10, Audi 5934cc V12 etc.
Lovely motor but those pops and bangs jheez like being 17 all over again just you didn’t have to clutch kick to actually get moving lol
I'm suprised he said merc is the worse of the 3 German brands for reliability, my whole family drives them (97' c230 with 200k miles, 2010 gl450 with just over 100k miles, 2012 e550 with 75k miles and my 2015 c350 about to hit 40k miles) and we've had very little issues with all of them worst I've had to do was a maf sensor and coils for my c230 at 200k miles. Just goes to show if you buy a semi well maintained car they will take very good care of you.

Tbh these cars pop relatively naturally being a big displacement car, mines just secondary decat and res delete and pops and bangs not crazy like these tunes nowadays. People seem to think they’re all tuned in but with big v8s it’s natural 🤷♂️

Had one of these a few years back. Hands down the best car I have ever owned. Stupidly fast, fantastic build quality but most of all....The Sound is 🔥

The AMG as about 200 foot pounds more torque than the m3 that’s why it pulls better from low down
OEM lsd is fine. And they handle well - no track car but well enough for blasting around the country roads.
NB - the pops and bangs are not for me at all. Mine is not mapped to do that

Mine with just the muffler delete has the right amount of pops with a deeper sound, that one is like popcorn in a microwave

imo these and the m3 are different types of cars, the m3 is a focused and sharp track type car and the merc is a cruiser with a ton of power for straight lines, think i'd have the c63 as in the real world i'd like to just put it in D, cruise about and then floor it when you want a bit of fun
M3 isn't track focussed at all. They are both mid size GT cars, neither are very sharp to drive. Great engines tbough.
They do corner just differently, taken me six months to get used to it

@Dou 6.2 fair one. Gives me more confidence in the engine. In the UK I've never seen one near that. I owned one with the classic headbolt issue so decided to sell up & now I'm looking for 2012+

Mercedes have the most rigorous testing and development out of the 3 brands. You buy a lemon and you'll get a lemon.

i like thee car its affordable enough , but how do you get rid of the pops and bangs its a bit un civilised ,
Had one of these, cool cars, quick straight line, handle a bit crap and if you look into it the engines have lots of issues. Ultimately its a nice car but its 100% more of a bruiser and straight line car.
It doesn’t feel as good on corners as an m3 because your approaching the corner way faster than you would be in the m3 mate 🤣🤣🤣

I bought a wagon and luv it... I was gonna have the secondary cats deleted but after watching this... Deffo not... Funny for 5 minutes after that I'd be embarressed... I am 60 tho... Each to there own... Great cars just buy one and scratch the itch :)

Yeah, the overrun pop map is pure chav spec.
Mercs have to be in silver or grey fir me personally. Its like ferrari is red, lambo is yellow etc
