Hahaha I want to get down there at some point to do some fishing!!! We have them but they are a different type, I’m not sure what the difference is, I do know that the ones in Florida get much bigger!
@@jdawgsjigs0124 South Florida is exotic fish heaven man! You would love it. You can catch so many Amazonian species of fish without leaving the US. Truly unique! Not to mention some of the best Largemouth bass fishing around and Amazing Saltwater fishing of all kinds. We Bow hunt at night for Gar. The back straps taste like lobster believe it or not. For the dream man, Yeew! 😎🤙
Sounds like the dream, I watch videos all the time man! I fished from shore in Florida once but only with small tackle and caught “surf fish” I think they would be called. Got a real small snook but it actually fought pretty hard! It was the best being able to just throw a line anywhere and get something. Those peacock bass look like a heck of a time they seem to fight super hard. I’ve also seen a bunch of those bass tournaments where they catch insane large mouth like you said those things look awesome! Ironically I don’t love fish all that much but I do like lobster so I’m sure I’d love gar hahaha. Bow fishing seems like such a fun time too I’d love to try it one day!
Funny enough I just got one today at the niagara river (canadian side). Mind you it was kind of just sleeping by the shore and let me scoop it with a net lol.
I hike that area of the river all the time only fish I’ve caught in the Lower river were on a charter 2 falls ago by the Lewiston queens ton bridge area 2 lakers and 1 steelhead
Nice!! Those lakers are fun! The steelhead in there seem to fight much different than in the creeks too! I’ve never done a charter, let alone in the Lower Niagara before, but I would love to one day!
@@jdawgsjigs0124 I’ve fished the shore a few times at devils hole and art park either hooked goby’s or got skunked it’s the snags that get me but on a charter with a guide who has 20+ years experience and gets you hooked I love the hikes for the scenery tho
Definitely longnose gar in the Lower...caught several out of Sodus Bay this Summer. They'll often shred and break mono/fluoro/braid if they surface and thrash on the water surface.
Went down last week, I’ve only been out that one time this year and only saw one other fisherman, he didn’t catch anything. The kings have to be in there by now though! I would say give it another week or so and they will be in there thick!
Technically it’s not a park, I am just off to the left of the power authority that’s on the lower River! Take a look at Google earth you should be able to find it. Guys fish off of the platform and off of the rocks all the time.
Come down to Florida,we have all you can catch!!! 😂 I had no idea that Gar lived that far north. 🤔

Hahaha that’s awesome! They’re such a cool looking fish!
That awesome! I've only ever hooked one but it popped at the shore :/ only a matter of time before you get a salmon!
Ahhh man at least you got to see it! Salmon should be getting in there thick pretty soon, hopefully within the week! Good luck out there!

I see them down there sometimes but never thought I would catch one! Those teeth are something! They can shred through anything!
When did you head down there and did you see any caught recently ?
Kings

I caught a long nose gar on a jig it was massive. Biggest fish I ever caught didn’t even hook it just lasso his nose.
Wild stuff!!! I was looking it up they can get pretty big. I can’t imagine the teeth on one that is that size!
the amount i see in the lake near me and yet iv never caught one either lol
Me too I see them all the time! I’m sure they’ve hit for me before but you have to be so lucky to set the hook right with how skinny their mouth is!
What side id the Niagara river are you on US or Canada
I am on the US side!
Whats the name of this park?
