am in love with this this brand! but super confused with the machine, can it sew heavy fabrics like denim, fleece and furs? Then special fabrics like sequins, silks, netting and lace? Maybe am looking at the wrong brand/machine and mean no disrespect but any machine should handle cotton all day long but no where can I find motor specs, what the machine is made of like, metal or plastic etc. switches are great but really don't want or need hundreds of them if the machine will die on me before I can get to all of them. Seems like maybe this is for quitters only and this is why it's all about the stitch and how many you get? Guess am looking for a work horse that's got a small bit of glam or did I just ask for a unicorn ? Do you know if they have a work horse? Sorry for a long post and THANK YOU so much!

Thanks for the question! The Sparrow 30 can handle all kinds of fabrics. Our audience is mostly quilters, so we especially highlight features relevant to them, but this is a great machine for all your sewing needs. For more model specific info, try the Eversewn site and we recommend reading the user manual of any machine you're looking at to find the spec information you're looking for. www.eversewn.com/sparrow-30/
Hope that helps in your quest for the ultimate machine!

I think they tried to make it like gold or rose gold. I liked the red. Anyways, looks like a good machine

Thanks for the info. Is it also used for sewing? I love that it has so many stitches. I'm not a Quilter but I do some embroidery sometimes.

Thanks for your question, Diana! The Sparrow 30 is great for sewing projects! It has a two-step presser foot lifter, which is really handy when sewing bulky seams, like for bags. It comes with a foot for sewing buttons on, and a buttonhole foot with ten kinds of buttonholes. The large library of stitches offers lots of capability from sewing stretch fabrics, making blind hems, appliqueing, and decorative stitching.
If you're looking for a machine capable of embroidery, you might look into the Sparrow X. We'll be coming out with a video tour of that machine very soon!

I can’t find good free motion setting to save my life. Can anyone help? I looked in the manual but I’m missing something. I like to do it with the feed dogs up. I keep getting eyelashes on the bottom of my stipple. I do have a foot.

You can't free motion quilt with the feed dogs up. You have to drop the feed dogs. With the feed dogs up you can only go forward and backward. I hope this helps! Happy sewing!

Ilene is correct, it's not possible to free motion quilt with the feed dogs up, so drop them and see if that helps with the eyelashes. Also try setting your stitch speed in the middle range to match the speed at which you move the quilt sandwich. Keep experimenting until you find a rhythm that works for you. Thanks for watching! -Emily

Try going higher in number on your tension setting. Try 7 to 9 on the dial and yes, you can free motion quilt with the feed dogs up. You just have to go slower.

Sounds like a good machine but it looks so ugly is pink beige or peach 😕

I wasn't impressed - out of the box the foot pedal (maybe) is erratic - pressing the pedal the machine starts to sew then stops, have to release the foot pedal and press again to restart. Guessing the problem is in the pedal but not for sure. Also didn't like that it has no hard case to protect it and it is made in China, although the advertising says 'branded in US' that is not the same as made in US but it is a clever use of words. I don't care for it and am returning it. I found an older Pfaff made in Germany that I am much happier using.

The pedal problem you had may actually be the stay stitch feature. The machine is set to make a stay stitch at the beginning of every seam and you have to turn it off before taking your first stitch to prevent the starting and stopping you're describing. (I forget to do this all the time.)
In case anyone else is having the same frustration, here's how to turn this feature off. Turn your machine on, press the auto-lock button (the center button under the Eversewn logo that looks like a small circle with a ring around it), and sew. You'll know it worked if the auto-lock icon disappears from the LCD screen. To turn the stay stitch feature back on, press the auto-lock button again. Refer to page 26 of the manual for an illustration and further explanation.
Glad to hear you found a machine that works for you!
