When the USSR anthem plays and the kid in the wheelchair stands up.
0:18 I really hope she is looking at the Sunday funny’s bc who cackles at a article about a person being executed
It and the current anthem is very powerful sounding lol :D
Believing that the person being executed deserves it.
I think the biggest twist in this whole video was the Rosenbergs having a Christian wedding.
Lol. exactly. Two Jewish commies were certainly not having that
They wanted to seem normal and blend in.
You'd think they could've come up with a justice of the peace or a rabbi--whichever.
Why is that such a big deal?
Spies tend to blend in and act the part. It's not very surprising.

Execution for spying isn’t ridiculous. Ethel should’ve know that the country she was spying for would do the same for less.
This just tells you can’t fully trust anybody when you are a spy.

Can you do a video explaining Why chernobyl still has very high radiation that’s not habitable and hiroshima and nagasaki don’t?
probably cuz chernobyl happened more recent than Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the latter 2 bombs have already lost their radiation levels to time
U gotta be joking...right?
Seth L. Lazarus Lol no I’m not joking, i want to know, 2 years after the bombing japan started rebuilding the cities. i know chernobyl was more recent but why is it going to take 20,000 year for the radiation to clear from chernobyl?
@@jaimeyanez7922 the nuclear explosion & meltdown during the Chernobyl Disaster was the equivalent of many, many atom bombs (like the one dropped in Hiroshima) exploding at once, every single hour, hour after hour for days. If you can handle intense realistic gore, watch HBO's Chernobyl, it's very informative. And terrifying.
Nuclear explosions loft most of their radioactive fallout high into the atmosphere where it gets diluted a million fold. Most of the debris from the Chernobyl reactor fire fell out of the air within the vicinity of the plant.
Wow, execution over the word of someone with no actual physical evidence to prove you are guilty. That's the same as someone coming out and saying "Yep, that's him, he's the one who is the killer" and everyone just taking their word for it.
Or saying "Yeah, that guy fondled me 15 years ago" and just taking their word...

Yeh right there is a lot of evidence… liar
@@Proamrc The prosecution promised to bring in scientists to testify about the accuracy of Greenglass’ drawings, but nuclear physicists refused because of the secrecy surrounding the atomic bomb. I m not even sure either the defense or prosecution were allowed to provide or give lots of explanation about the rather crude drawings. You might check Wikipedia on that. The testimony came from others working with Julius, including Ethel’s brother and his wife. It was later revealed that English physicist Klaus Fuchs, who’d also worked on the Manhattan Project was the real source of detailed information on the bomb, He was tried in the English court and was sentenced to only 20 years. In 1995, Russia provided the Verona file showing thatJulius and David Greenglass were definitely involved in spying for Russia. However, Ethel’s name was mentioned as perhaps only involved as a possible accessory. Unlike her husband and David and Ruth Greenglass, who were given code names by the KGB, Ethel was never given one. Greenglass later said on film that it was notorious attorney Roy Cohn who told him that if he would testify that his sister typed up notes for Julius and her brother, then they would let his wife Ruth, who was also a Communist, could go free. The prosecution believed that prosecuting Ethel would get Julius to confess. He never did. The Rosenberg’s two sons petitioned President Obama to exonerate Ethel as there was no evidence of her spying in Russian files, only Greenglass’ lies on the stand. In January 2017, it was announced that Obama had not exonerated Ethel Rosenberg posthumously. Julius was guilty, but probably would have probably not been executed if he confessed. People assumed that since Ethel was his wife and because they shared similar political views that she must have known something. But there was no direct evidence against her. Several other scientists from the Manhattan Project, such as Theodore Hall, were not revealed until the Verona files were made public.

Im confused, I watched the entire series "The Americans".. that show takes place in the 70's & 80's. But here it states the wife was executed in the 50's... huh???
P.s. the FX show is amazing!!
SnipingRaptor , I remember when this happened. The husband and wife spy team gave the design for the bomb to the Russians. That really started the Cold War and all those proxy wars that followed. Not to mention nuclear weapons in Cuba aimed at the USA. I never saw that show you are talking about. There was great fear in those days that there were more hidden spies throughout the country. I totally believe them both to be guilty of spying. There have always been spies in our history.
The spies in The Americans aren't the Rosenbergs.
SnipingRaptor: The FX series “The Americans” takes place from 1981 to 1987.
Both sides had spies the entire Cold War
I love how no one actually answered you question. I thought there was another husband and wife that were caught being spies for Russia in the 80's and executed as well. I'm so confused.

The Rosenberg network “passed on the 12,000 page blueprints for the Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star, airborne radars for nighttime navigation and bombing,” and for innovations in radar technology.
Radosh quotes Steven Usdin from his 2005 book, Engineering Communism:
“Rosenberg’s band of amateur spies turned over detailed information on a wide range of technologies and weapon systems that hastened the Red Army’s march to Berlin, jump-started its postwar development of nuclear weapons and delivery systems, and later helped Communist troops in North Korea fight the American military to a standoff.”

The Americans was the greatest show ever!
I second that . And what a stunning finale. I cried
My generation already has watched “The Americans” before this lol
Ahh, but this is diffirent. They were Americans that became spies. In the show, they were Soviets citizens thay posed as Americans.
There was a Soviet couple that posed as a western family but I think they did it Canada. This actually caused problems with the kids, which were born there since they supposedly thought they were real canadians but had to be deported.
@@shaider1982 Do you think the American counterpart of those Soviet fake American couples spies existed ?? Like a fake couple of American CIA spies who posed as a Russian Soviet family, spoke Russian perfectly, had an appartment in Moscow, had kids, a Lada in the parking lot etc... and got trained for spying and assassination by the American CIA like in "The Americans" in America ... But "The Russians" in Russia ?

Considering they gave nuclear secrets to the enemy, they definitely deserved the arrest and the sentence. But the twist at the end was really upsetting
I'm pretty sure 'The Americans' isn't based on the Rosenbergs, maybe in spirit, but there are other spy couples that fit the tv series much better.

Weird fact: THATS MY BESTIES BIRTHDAY THE DAY SHE GOT EXCUTED WOW
Edited *espionage* not treason.
Can you imagine us doing this still... what was the last time we imprisoned somebody for espionage.
Banoslen they provided secrets on the nuclear weapon to the soviets, this would be part of the reason the Cold War was near the brink of destroying the entire world. If these people don’t deserve the death penalty, no one does.
Treason should have been one of the charges
I’m no communist apologist but in this instance, execution seems like an overreaction. Perhaps there is more to the story? Because the video makes it sound like guilt was in question?
Of course they deserved execution. They literally helped the Soviet Union develop their own nuclear arsenal. This would cause over 50 years of rivalry between the Soviet Union and the United States which would cause numerous proxy wars and cost thousands of lives. They both deserved to be executed
@@Danielminer-ei3lz Completely agree. Anyone that commits espionage against their country deserves to be executed. I feel no differently about Edward Snowden, though his revelations were rather striking. The damage he did to our nation's offensive cyber security arsenal, and as a result, our defensive posture, is unforgivable.
We would call that treason in UK however any country man that betrays their country deserves death.
@@maglar There's a difference between committing espionage against your country versus revealing your own country's wrongdoing and failure to adhere to its own principals. Doing acts for the purpose of aiding an ally is what makes treason.
@@clockhanded I understand that, but in the case of Edward Snowden, he dumped a trove of the NSA's cyber security tools that were used for our own national defense and for our offense on other nations. But now those tools are being used against us.

Just because we were allies with Russia during World War 2, it was far from us being buddy buddy with them. Stalin made aggressive plans to get through to Berlin at the end of the war because they were opportunistically looking to get as much as they could in the post war negotiations.
