  • Welcome to the review of the RYD Brand x Caio Ibelli (WSL World Tour Surfer) "First Time" Twin Fin Epoxy Softboard, which is have been riding in the 5'9 x 20 5/8 x 2 1/2 - 34.6L
The First Time has been a whole heap of fun to surf and is very capable for a "soft board".
    From rydbrand.com.a...
The First Time model is the brainchild of RYD Ambassador, Caio Ibelli. When not competing on the WSL Championship Tour and getting under the skin of a certain Brazilian world champion or cooking up a storm at Ibelli Burgers - Caio likes to take long walks on beach, cuddle fluffy puppies and... and surf twin fins.
This little number is based off the first board Caio ever shaped. It features a cheeky swallowtail with pronounced winger that helps the rail transition into the narrow tail area, giving the board extra drive and more precision through your turns. The single concave under the front foot, into double concave leading into the fin area will ensure you can ride this board in an array of conditions. Caio has surfed it with maximum enjoyment from small beach breaks in Brazil, to fun Backdoor Pipe and Off the Wall in Hawaii!
The First Time is available in three sizes: 5’2 (26.3L), 5’7 (31.8L) and 5’9 (34.3L). The board comes out the box with a set of small, rigid plastic fins, but we recommend either the RYD fiber glass Road Movie* or the Honey Comb Hank Dude* as the perfect partners for this board. *Coming April ’21.
This board feels amazing under the arm, its superlight and the refined rails and quality finish make it feel like a real surfboard. We think everyone should have a twin fin in their quiver, and we might be biased, but this is a great place to start!
While the board comes with a set of fins from RYD, I also checked out the Futures T1 in the Thermotech technology.
    From futuresfins.co...
The T1 Thermotech is Future's performance twin-fin designed for used in any performance twin model. Made in Huntington Beach, the Thermotech product line does not have the traditional plastic feel of a composite fin. Instead, they have a consistent flex that creates drive and release through turns. Thermotech fins come with the Futures Truss Base, making them lighter and stronger. Available as a pair, these fins are built with 4º can't angle.

Epoxy resin isn't used in the construction?

@@TheSurfboardGuide deck and bottom skin are usually heat welded to the core, unlikely there is any epoxy resin used. Sometimes there is some flexible glue used. By the way epoxy is a resin not a core material for surfboards. I think when saying epoxy core you meant to refer to expanded polystyrene. An epoxy core would be like a brick.

@@onshore1ft haha! I understand the core isn’t epoxy, but EPS. But, pretty sure epoxy resin is used in the construction…

@@Jodam664 not the point though. EPS is the foam, epoxy is the resin
