In the field, I dont trust any cooking methods but boiling and then after lots of boiling, simmering/stewing. Everything else is very likely, over a wood fire, to burn your food or leave parasites alive. You have to use coals for baking, frying, , not flames, or your heat is very inconsistent and that means either waiting forever, with enemies, all around you,, or burnt/raw food. Cooking will have to be done at night, down in a Dakota fire pit. with some sort of light-retentive encirclement of the vent hole, so that the fire's light goes no place but straight up. For the first 3 months, have non-cook food available to you,. After that time, the dogs will have all been eaten and you wont have to worry so much about the cooking scent giving away your location.
