I think it's about how everyone is trying to impress everyone and fit in to get others to have something to do with them. Unfortunately now these days most of Society (not all) expects everyone to dress a certain way, look a certain way, and act a certain way. Sometimes the expectations are completely impossible to meet. No one can choose the genetics they're born with and nobody can be exactly like someone else. Even twins have their own differences. This is just my interpretation of it.
Attention seeking really is tragic. And social media is the only place people are social. People use it as an archive for their beautiful lives and everyone posts supportive comments out of the dirt. Outside the internet, nobody really gives a damn. "Out on the street, all the people walk by" and acts of kindness are rare. That is the meaning that resonates with me. The redeeming thing about it all, socially, is that those rare acts of kindness really do mean so much more.
