It was required. Someone came to the house with a serious complaint and to uphold the constitution they had to investigate it...that was their oath.... regardless the outcome, striving to protect the constitution or prevent its violation is not a waste of time.

I feel I am safe to say 1. He is well within his rights to do so, 2. I just can’t agree cause much like this impeachment, there really isn’t evidence to support it, and 3. The OP, just like the man in the video, is well within his rights to make similar assumptions. I just think it’s time to evaluate the arguments and not base everything on personal attacks. For example I can agree with you that the OP lacks evidence to support his claim, however, I disagree on the argument that his lack of evidence is cause to claim he is ignorant. This is because, for all either one of us knows, he may be familiar with the man and may know his dealings. So in the most respectful way possible I ask that moving forward we attack the root of what our issues are rather than sink to the low of baseless personal attacks with equal lack of evidence.

Support a proper trial in the Senate and test the theory if you're so confident. The only possible reason for not doing so now is that you secretly think he's guilty.
@Bob Hoffman All the House Republicans wanted was to turn the investigation into a circus wasting public money interviewing people who had nothing to do with determining whether there was a case against Trump. I watched a lot of the early hearings right through. I didn't need the media to TELL me anything; I saw and heard for myself. The White House also denied the hearings witnesses that the investigation did want to hear from. The investigation was not the trial, and now it appears the trial is not the trial either. You are too late to argue Trump's innocence, because it seems Senate Republicans are now arguing that they accept Trump is guilty of everything he accused of, but in their view it doesn't amount to impeachable offences or this close to an election they'd prefer to leave the decision to American voters. No one had enough faith in the Republican senators to believe they would vote to remove Trump, but if the witnesses denied to the impeachment investigation had been allowed it would have at least have had some semblance of legitimacy. At least the American people would had heard the evidence in the proper place, rather than piecemeal through the filter of biased media later, and senators would be seen to ask questions and make decisions. And there sits the problem for Republican senators. They didn't want to be seen to side with blatant corruption and by allowing new witnesses that is likely to be what they would have to do to vote in Trump's favor. Voting against Trump is not in their political interest so they are sacrificing the US Constitution and the future power of Congress in exchange for short term political gain. Americans will eventually pay the price. In the shorter term I suspect it will be countries like mine who'll be hurt by the trade and actual wars that Trump has and will continue to create until he's out of office. As the White House and the Republican senate have done nothing to strengthen the USA against interference by foreign powers in their elections and politics generally, you won't know if your up-coming election is a fair one or not. Already your electoral system favors the rural minority. Your political system was dysfunctional, and unless the next election by some miracle sees the election of ethical candidates to all levels of government the USA is headed towards a much larger gap between rich and poor, and possibly for a break up like the USSR.
