- Elvaston Castle is a stately home in Elvaston, Derbyshire, England. The Gothic Revival castle and surrounding parkland is run and owned by Derbyshire County Council as a country park known as Elvaston Castle Country Park. The country park has 200 acres of woodlands, parkland and formal gardens.

It's such a regular haunt of ours but recently it's becoming more and more derelict. The fabulous tufa rockery arches and viewing circles are in disrepair and ugly temporary metal fencing put round them. I do hope it means they are being stabalised, but it doesn't look like it. It's all so sad.

Thank you. Do you know if the marble child on his death bed inside the church is of the 4-year-old? I think his name was Archibold Stanhope. ? A sleeping child pure white marble.?
There really are some beautiful walks here. Definitely worth visiting again in summer when everything is in full bloom.
