so many mind-blowing things! thanks for this great series! I failed to replicate as the LPG behave strangely, but made me understand a lot. crazy how much went into building the buchla system and makes me understand better, why they are so expensive. rebuilding this with eurorack would be a similar price in the end. just pluggin in the sequencer sounds so good already! impressive how much a simple, well crafted sequence can do. looking forward to recreate this with the rene mk2 and a few other modules I have.
I'm on my second run through of this series now. This episode is so hardcore I can't believe it. META sequencing at its finest. My eyes still start to glaze over half way through 😱 It's incredible the melodic variety it affords. Unbelievable how forward looking and advanced the 248 was. I think only a very few copies of it were ever sold, it takes quite something to utilize its potential. Every time I watch and think about this my hybris mind wants to code up an 248 for VCV Rack, which I think oddly enough would not be a huge challenge. By far the biggest challenge I think is in the using of it; wrapping your mind around it. Fantastic work Pierre, so inspiring!
Manifique! Thank you for this, Pyer. I've been toying with Buchla inspired VCV patches since seeing Omri's video on the same with occasional inspired breakthroughs. Having a breakdown of Ciani's performance patch is truly inspiring on a whole new level. I think the MARF exists as a reminder that we are merely human...
Oh yes! I followed along with the patching process but eventually just downloaded the thing and when I opened it I was awestruck by what started playing. This is - and sounds(!) - _so_ good!
currently trying out an original buchla 200 system, using susanne ciani and caterina barbieri, and these videos as my inspiration and guidelines! thank you for your dedication
Such an amazing tutorial on the old cookbook and the unique modules of the 200 system. Shy to ask about remaking this in VCV2 with Patchmaster, could be fun.
Thanks :-) the patch in the descirption is Rack2 ready. I had to switch a few modules that didn't make it in rack 2 but it's the same concept ... ah! good idea for patch master! sounds tricky but doable
I had this on my watch later list because I knew this will take my entire day. Finally, I gave it a shot. I don't know how much I was able to digest but now I have a nice patch going on. The moment the programmer sequencer came in I got lost in all kinds of scales and tones. I paired the sequencer with a quantizer and I am traveling in space!! I will need to read and watch these videos at least thrice for me to completely get it... Thank you!
Hi Peter! thanks for your kind words :-) I am working on the last episode, on this occasion all patches will be updated to vcv 2. it's tricky because some collection are vcv1 only, I was waiting for an update but eventually I found some module to replace them
@@pyer3354 Hi Pyer, fantastic that you work on the update to VCV 2, everyone will appreciate that highly, thank you sooooo much for spending your time and sharing this with us ... My idea is to set up an instrument (permanent setup) with a softsynth like VCV and two MIDLAR controllers with knobs and sliders. This should give me a wonderful simulation of a real modular synth like the BUCHLA at very reasonable costs, an original BUCHLA I could never afford... Any inputs or ideas on that are welcome ;-)
tellement merci pour ton travail, de lâcher les patchs gratosses et tout c'est des heures et des heures de jam merveilleuses que tu nous offres le shape master est vraiment un bijou pour quantizer et d'autres choses comme ça hihi
OMG, this is so crazy. @Jakub Ciupinski's latest VCV Rack Hacks on Aliasing talks about getting 2 independent playheads from a single cv source. It starts at about 9 minutes. I think the rest of the functions in the middle could be handled by rampage.
Hi, did you think about figuring out the MARF specific functions on a Verbos VMS and SS? If so, it would be interesting to know, just for this patch, if this could be done then in HW. Many thanks for your wonderful and very instructive video
I recorded Susan performing a few years ago and it’s not bad quality. Big screen behind her showing a close up of her setup. Here’s a link ruclips.net/video/TiKY_fJX0Ro/видео.html

This was very interesting Pyer. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I want Buchla to release an IOS app. It would be great.

Thank you! it took me much more than 3 read to understand any of it :D but it's full of ideas to take with you!
Fantastic work, any chance that you modify it for VCV Rack 2 ???? ... that would be awesome, thanks in advance ;-)

Fabulous. So complex. My head spins! But I am looking forward to how it is performed!
thank you Kevin. yes this one was tuff! next episodes will be about playing, playing, and only playing :-)
@@pyer3354 just keep going!
Simply amazing. Excellent work Pyer!
Thanks Rafael!

This is a fascinating series, thanks for sharing it.
Thanks for your suppport!
What is creating the accents and gate length variations once you connect the sequencer at 1:40? Thanks.
