Hey Y'all! Catfish pointed out that Spank by Vult has a built in VCA, so you can use it for drums if you like. If you use another envelope generator that does not have a built in VCA, just pull one up in the same configuration as in this video! Thank you and happy patching! 🤘😎
Hey, man! First, thank for the videos! Second, you should add the link to the first video in the description. For example, I stumbled upon this one first.
Great tutorial! One question - at 9:40, couldn't you connect the Caudal module directly to μMap and just use the offset & scale? Seems redundant to put an offset module and an attenuvertor inbetween.
Thank you for the comment, @AB-wf8ek! You totally can just use the μMap's offset and scale; however, I find the additional attenuverter easier to dial in than the μMap alone. μMap's controls are very sensitive in my experience so having a module with a little more wiggle room helps me. If you want a slick minimal module set up, you should totally skip out on the redundant modules :)
You say "first connect the gate output at 1:35" but when you say this the Gate input next to the output you're talking about magically connects to something. Could you explain that as I can't get this to work.
The cable that goes to the gate input of the spank, this will be from your sequencer, clock, or other gate source, is also sent to the gate input of the stock adsr. It looks like it magically connects because I hold ctrl while I click on the port that holds that cable (the spank gate input port). When you hold ctrl and click a port like that, it duplicates the cable. I then connect it to the gate input of the stock adsr, no magic required. In the free vcv rack cheat sheet on my Ko-fi page, there is a diagram of this build along with others if you need more detail. The patch that has these exact drums can also be downloaded for free as part of my patch collection. Also on my Ko-fi page.
FYI, I just noticed in the snare section, the vca you're using is not needed. Spank has a vca included. I just use one channel. What you did makes it more clear what's going on in the patch though!
_Would love to make Drum N Bass tracks, but don't have a Bass guitar, all there is are those drums. "Ba Dum Tss"_ And another banger of a tutorial, Robbie! That Japanese TTS though, never not funny listening to it pronouncing English. 😂
Thank you for the question, Mattg5461! You can! However, the scale and offset function on the micromap are more difficult to dial in than with the dual attenuverter and add5 combo. So if you are using the micromap alone, the modulation depth will be slightly deeper based on the patching that I've done. I think the combo has more capability for subtle moves. The best thing though is there is more than one way and I'd like to encourage you to patch in whatever way you want. I hope this is helpful and thanks again! 🙂
Lol yeah the other drum video was 3 months ago huh? Time flies. I'm fine 😊. I've made some other stuff since then, but I'll try to make the next one in this drum series a bit quicker for next time.

Another fantastically made video! Really helps out my patches with new ideas, thanks Rob!
Thank you for the comment and encouragement, JT! I'm glad the video is useful to you 😁
Sounds pretty savage! As per usual!!!!
Thank you, @aaronrosenthal5310!

Thank you! I just added it. Solid suggestion, I really appreciate it ✌️😁
so good man, simple, to-the-point. You show us how and then get out of the way. Many thanks.
Thank you, @samigumiran6174 It's my pleasure. Happy patching!
This is a great dive into making really satisfying drum patches. Gotta love VCV Rack!
Thank you, @turbotambourine! VCV Rack is great 😃. Maybe in the next installment of this drum making set I'll make a tambourine sound lol.
@@yourpalrob yeah do it! I’ll watch for sure haha. I feel like at some point the origin story to the name will come out.
Awesome stuff man! Subscribedddd
Thank you, @psychrockvinyl! I'm glad you like the content so far!
I want to visit your kofi page but I don't speak Japanese, 😉.
I like the choked hi-hat at the end.
Lol!

@@yourpalrob Nice, okay just checking if there was something I was missing. Thanks for the reply!

Whoa, spank rec shoutout! I'm internet famous now!
Thanks Pal.

Oooh micromap is new to me. That will be super helpful. I find myself wishing trummor2 had more cv. Awesome.
You were famous before you recommended spank to me haha
Noted! I noticed the VCA port but just didn't utilize it because I didn't know how well it functioned :)
Sweet !
Thank you for the comment, @holydiver4728!

At 9:00 , couldn't you have just used the Offset and Scale on the Stoermelder module instead of the attenuverter and add5?

Where's exotic drums video? Let's get weird!
Hell yeah! I wasn't sure if folks would b interested in exotic drums, but now I know haha 🤘😁
Bumping this fr. I'll be all ears if it's drum-related!
@@yourpalrobExotic drums - yes! Erotic drums would also be acceptable, though we're not THAT kind of pals.
Haha!
Lmao, it was 3 months ago. You alright, bro?😢
