lol i was referring to the days when the strokes were still doing proper tours. also it was live streamed so there wasnt really a 'wait', it was just mediocre quality.
I couldnt even load a damn strokes video with Dial Up as a kid 13 years ago - The shit used to be a pixalated mess now we all watch these videos in seconds with clear quality .. crazy ..
i feel the same way about the strokes too!! ive never seen them live. i live in san antonio and cant go to austin cuz i cant drive. And they only played at festivals and madison square garden in the last tour.
You saw them in 2002 also!!!...okay..you're killing me...I'll bet it was just so exciting and amazing and NEW...they were so young and all friends then..I think I'm gonna cry
Yeah, you really, reaaaally need to make it to see them! You must! I dunno, I was addicted to them. They were like a drug, haha! I couldn't help myself. They came around, I was there. But, I didn't get to see them with their last tour =( The people at Jules solo shows were very supportive. I've met some really cool people from his shows that I still keep in touch with. Okay, our mission, to get YOU to a Strokes show! ^___^
OMG!!!!! You re totally killing me...How did you manage to get to all those shows? I am in awe of you - you totally deserve that User Name! lol! I will do whatever it takes to get to see Julian sing live...if it's with the Strokes - great...Solo tour - will be a better chance that it will be a smaller venue - works for me. I heard that the crowds were so supportive of him on the solo tour..and that he seemed surprised! He is too awesome..and, he looked great for those solo shows....sigh.....
^_^ It was, it was! I remember first seeing the Last Night video in Oct of 2001 or something like that, and I promised myself that I WOULD SEE THEM. Haha..I think I went overboard on that promise to myself coz I've seen them 15 times since I made myself that promise. (And Jules/solo 3 times) I was center front at the 2002 show and when I saw Jules for the first time, standing in front of me....I swear I had never come so close to passing out before! hahaha! But yeah, for reals....it was nuts.
Like the guy said a few posts below, you can get a similar sound by turning the tone buttons off (to 0) and setting the switch to clean/rhythm. It works for me... oh, and distortion should be on, of course.
@DaniloSuperStar Take your Jeckyl and Hyde Overdrive/Distorion pedal, gain it up, pipe it through your Hot Rod Deville, switch your nick valensi series epiphone riviera to the neck position and roll back all the town. you will get that signature sound.
@annieluvs1251 Haha! yeah, I just remember that night being so great! They put on a great show, the crowd was amped to see them. I remember them playing "Clampdown" by The Clash and I was like "Oh shut up! This is so....Eeeeee!" I actually saw them for the first time in San Diego in early 2002, the good ole days.....Okay, I'm making myself feel realllly old right now. HA!
@TheStrokesChick GET OUT!!!!! That is so awesome!...To be able to say you saw them in 2004...I heard they played there a lot in the beginning..tell us about the crowd and the night...DON"T BE SHY!! Details please!
@quepasta123 they probably think that the fans don't want to hear it anymore.. :'( they want to play the new stuff, but they know everyone wants to hear the really old stuff, because all they've been playing recently are stuff off of Angles and Is This It... and then Nikolai is there to make sure they play Reptilia
they are i know this.. but i dunno i see their live performances and im like " it just doesn't seem like jules is in to it" like i love their albums but i just dunno about their live shows... more feeling from jules and its an amazing band all around live.
ya after room on fire casablanca'a alcohol/drug problem started to get really bad. IF you look at some the early footage and compare it to this, he looks like crap. He is all pasty and looks exhausted
IMO Nick is more talented than Albert. I wonder if that is the problem. The problem being that the Strokes haven't made an album in 3 years. Maybe it's an ego thing. Just throwing that out there. Not trying to fuel anything. Albert is quite talented himself.
i love the strokes, but i just don't think they sound n e thing like they do on their albums... albums are great i just don't think the concerts are up to par.. for example muse is good and concerts are even better than the albums.
the lead guitar tone in the song makes me want to just melt. so good.
i remember trying to watch this webstream on dial up internet. the good ole' days.
How do consider waiting a crazy long time for a video *good*?
lol i was referring to the days when the strokes were still doing proper tours. also it was live streamed so there wasnt really a 'wait', it was just mediocre quality.
Ok.
hahahaha... i remember as well. i also remembering trying to dress like a stroke but finding nothing at my crappy and boring suburban mall
I couldnt even load a damn strokes video with Dial Up as a kid 13 years ago - The shit used to be a pixalated mess now we all watch these videos in seconds with clear quality .. crazy ..
They need to start playing this song live again.
Always be the saviors of Rock N Roll..

You saw them in 2002 also!!!...okay..you're killing me...I'll bet it was just so exciting and amazing and NEW...they were so young and all friends then..I think I'm gonna cry
"kiss me now that im older" s2s2s2s2
Like the guitar very very much in this live performance.
The father of art
they must be amazing live
hes a musical genius
oh that lead guitar tone is sweet. plenty of sustain :)
@and678 The tone knobs are actually turned all the way down to achieve the keyboard like sound, so essentially there is no tone.
Yeah, you really, reaaaally need to make it to see them! You must! I dunno, I was addicted to them. They were like a drug, haha! I couldn't help myself. They came around, I was there. But, I didn't get to see them with their last tour =(

If you really love The Strokes and you die without seeing them Live.. you're so screwed
Friday nights have been lonely indeed in 2020.

@DaniloSuperStar

damn them for not releasing anything in like...half a decade...
they never play this song live anymore :(
@quepasta123 they probably think that the fans don't want to hear it anymore.. :'(
they want to play the new stuff, but they know everyone wants to hear the really old stuff, because all they've been playing recently are stuff off of Angles and Is This It... and then Nikolai is there to make sure they play Reptilia

Turn your speakers down then :)
This sounds like a Target commercial
then please, appreciate them for the right reasons ;)
12:51 is a mirror immage if you put the mirror at the :
Excuse me, from the very "beginning."
Julian Casablancas album is badass though
Yes.
They don't even COMPARE.
Oh, k thanks. I think that this song sounds like the cars.
its 1:51
needs to be that loud because the tone is all the way down
quite a hard song to clap to lol
well that's a natural amp tone sooo
what other band?
anyone see that albert has a cig in his guitar at the neck?
I think he changed that lyric for this performance.
11 people.
12 people has no clock
does anyone think he looks like nat wolf?compare and see:]
jason?r u even talking about the strokes?
Abit of Chorus.... but mainly, all you do is turn all your tone on the guitar down, and use your bridge pick up
ya after room on fire casablanca'a alcohol/drug problem started to get really bad. IF you look at some the early footage and compare it to this, he looks like crap. He is all pasty and looks exhausted
lead guitar is kinda loud Oo
jajaja
I think that was the point of the song no?
@mrthikcok so what?
....yeah if you draw fucked up looking 2s or 5s.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.....................
haha you wish!
it's indie, not indy.
yeah but completely different sound and style...
11 people are bieberish..
I'm not thanking anyone for fucking Coldplay.
IMO Nick is more talented than Albert. I wonder if that is the problem. The problem being that the Strokes haven't made an album in 3 years. Maybe it's an ego thing. Just throwing that out there. Not trying to fuel anything. Albert is quite talented himself.
Muse es una muy buena banda pero The Strokes es mejor!!!!
i love the strokes, but i just don't think they sound n e thing like they do on their albums... albums are great i just don't think the concerts are up to par.. for example muse is good and concerts are even better than the albums.
@chibullsareback albert is more talented than nick
