We grew up having these before the air fryer was invented. They called them "eggs in a nest." Mom made them in the 1960's through the 1970's. Another favorite is the dutch baby or, baked German pancakes that are thin & rise in the oven. So good!

I did this for breakfast this morning - wonderful! I wanted runny yolk and the 5 minutes ate 385 worked perfectly. I used a homemade sourdough bolillo (crusty roll/mini fat baguette kind of roll) and all was crisp and delicious on the roll. I have an Ultimate Instant Pot which is combo pressure cooker/air fryer (smaller version of Ninja One Lid). I pressure cooked potatoes and sausage, then switched to air fry for the egg-toast, and to crisp potatoes and sausage. Perfect weekend large breakfast. Thank you for this technique!!
@@plainjaneproud Yes to preheat. I almost always preheat, just like with an oven. I’m on my 2nd air fryer and find that it takes some experimentation with time and temp for each type.
It never dawned on me to do this. Tried it, and it worked perfectly. My bread wasn't thick enough, so I made a cheese sandwich with a hole cut out of the top slice for the egg. Perfectly cooked and no massive mess in the airfryer. This will be a staple make for me.
I had a similar issue with the bread but mine was thicker cut granary bread but the end result was just as tasty. I think it`s a bit trail and error to start, but end result was delicious. thank you

I am very happy with the Cosori Air Fryer. It's the perfect size for the two of us. The biggest tip is do not put parchment paper - the pre-cuts are very nice - in the basket during the pre-heat setting. You will catch it on fire. Also use Avocado Oil if you're using oil. It has a high smoke point to it. RUclips has been great with finding recipes for the Air Fryer.

You won't regret it. So many cool things you can do with one. Almost anything you could deep fry/would deep fry, is ust as good in the air fryer...in some cases, better. Of course, there's some cases where you may still prefer to deep fry, but it's rare...and that's coming from someone who used to be a die-hard deep fryer, when I was younger. They're also fantastic for reheating cold takeout/fast-food fries.. which was something I believed to be impossible to do, and still taste decent.

You definitely need to use thicker slices I tried with a regular slice and the whites ran off the sides. Still tasted good but the AF needed more clean up.

@@RemisWorld I'm going to tell you a simple recipe that only needs 2 eggs, a slice of Prague ham, a frying pan and a spoonful of oil (if you want, add spices to taste).
I have a pan from my grandmother. It is 15 centimeters in diameter and is made of black tin.
Beat two eggs, cut a slice of ham and heat the oil.
First put the ham in the pan for 40 seconds. Take out the ham and beaten eggs (as in an omelette). When the eggs start to coagulate, you can put pepper, salt, hot peppers and then put the ham on top.
Wait until the edges of the pan composition are golden and there is no excess liquid in the pan and gently roll the composition like a pancake (rolled, not folded).
Continue baking by rolling until it is ready (45 seconds).
It's a filling and cheap breakfast. You can also put a spoonful of cream along with a slice of bread!

So youtube is reading our minds now…? I just had a thought of running some of my sourdough bread through my air fryer. I thought, “I wonder if there’s a YT video about that”?? Didn’t speak out loud, but just wondered about it. Tried it and found it kinda worked, but only ran it for 2 min cuz I couldn’t wait…. 😊. Then I see this! I think I’ll try it for 4 min, I like my yolk very runny, this and a couple slices of fried spam and I’ll be in my own little heaven
5 min is good for runny yolk, as we are not preheating the air fryer, the whites will remain uncooked at 4 min

I think you probably need thicker sliced bread to make this work well. I just upgraded to a 7qt air fryer, so I’m going to definitely try this.

You definitely need to use thicker slices I tried with a regular slice and the whites ran off the sides. Still tasted good but the AF needed more clean up.
