@@ardanormm7490 to prevent the egg from falling out, take a big broader bread slice, and make a round indent properly so that the egg doesn't flow out. This should work.

Finally! A method to create “windowpane toast” (that’s what we called it in my home, when I was a child), without using excess butter, or overcooking the egg white while trying to achieve a crunchy, brown toast. 👏👏

We grew up having these before the air fryer was invented. They called them "eggs in a nest." Mom made them in the 1960's through the 1970's. Another favorite is the dutch baby or, baked German pancakes that are thin & rise in the oven. So good!

I was going to comment the same thing😂 We called it Egg in a Nest too. Except we cut out the middle part of the bread. I still make it and love it.
I am very happy with the Cosori Air Fryer. It's the perfect size for the two of us. I like the fact there's very little oil being used - that helps with cooking a bit healthier ruclips.net/user/postUgkxD4Qeo-HRLxMfom_PDinM_SBfes00qJsB for the two of us. The biggest tip is do not put parchment paper - the pre-cuts are very nice - in the basket during the pre-heat setting. You will catch it on fire. Also use Avocado Oil if you're using oil. It has a high smoke point to it. RUclips has been great with finding recipes for the Air Fryer.

It never dawned on me to do this. Tried it, and it worked perfectly. My bread wasn't thick enough, so I made a cheese sandwich with a hole cut out of the top slice for the egg. Perfectly cooked and no massive mess in the airfryer. This will be a staple make for me.
I had a similar issue with the bread but mine was thicker cut granary bread but the end result was just as tasty. I think it`s a bit trail and error to start, but end result was delicious. thank you
I do the same its a grilled cheese but with the egg in the hole on top.

I did this for breakfast this morning - wonderful! I wanted runny yolk and the 5 minutes ate 385 worked perfectly. I used a homemade sourdough bolillo (crusty roll/mini fat baguette kind of roll) and all was crisp and delicious on the roll. I have an Ultimate Instant Pot which is combo pressure cooker/air fryer (smaller version of Ninja One Lid). I pressure cooked potatoes and sausage, then switched to air fry for the egg-toast, and to crisp potatoes and sausage. Perfect weekend large breakfast. Thank you for this technique!!

@@plainjaneproud Yes to preheat. I almost always preheat, just like with an oven. I’m on my 2nd air fryer and find that it takes some experimentation with time and temp for each type.
My wife used to do this in the pan, but since her passing I have been trying and most times they do not come out the way she used to make them. Will try this method, thanks for uploading this👌

I love this, It’s much easier cooking it in an air fryer. I’ve made this with cutting a hole in the buttered bread adding the egg and cooking it in a fry pan.

You won't regret it. So many cool things you can do with one. Almost anything you could deep fry/would deep fry, is ust as good in the air fryer...in some cases, better. Of course, there's some cases where you may still prefer to deep fry, but it's rare...and that's coming from someone who used to be a die-hard deep fryer, when I was younger. They're also fantastic for reheating cold takeout/fast-food fries.. which was something I believed to be impossible to do, and still taste decent.

I've been doing this for decades in a sandwich maker. But I also put a slice of cheese underneath.
The only trick is not to close the top lid completely and to see when the egg is ready! A good day!

I have a pan from my grandmother. It is 15 centimeters in diameter and is made of black tin.
Beat two eggs, cut a slice of ham and heat the oil.
First put the ham in the pan for 40 seconds. Take out the ham and beaten eggs (as in an omelette). When the eggs start to coagulate, you can put pepper, salt, hot peppers and then put the ham on top.
Wait until the edges of the pan composition are golden and there is no excess liquid in the pan and gently roll the composition like a pancake (rolled, not folded).
Continue baking by rolling until it is ready (45 seconds).
It's a filling and cheap breakfast. You can also put a spoonful of cream along with a slice of bread!

I use my air fryer as a toaster - 140 deg/4 mins - the best toast ... But the crumbs are a mess. It blows throughout the the appliance and is difficult to clean... But I'm not deterred. I love my air-fried toast 🙌

5 min is good for runny yolk, as we are not preheating the air fryer, the whites will remain uncooked at 4 min

You definitely need to use thicker slices I tried with a regular slice and the whites ran off the sides. Still tasted good but the AF needed more clean up.

I think you probably need thicker sliced bread to make this work well. I just upgraded to a 7qt air fryer, so I’m going to definitely try this.

I grew up o this in the 70’s longer fire the air fryer. My mom called them “one eyed gypsy sandwiches”. My husbands mom called it “chicken in a basket”.

Gave this a try this morning. Keep in mind, you may have to experiment with your fryer and type of bread. For me, I wanted something less firm than yours (but not as runny as the second one), so I did 6 minutes, and the bread was perfect, but the eggs were too runny for me. So, I guess next time, I'll try 7. :)
Six minutes was way to crispy in my air fryer. I will do 5 mins. next try and just a bit of shredded cheese. I beat my egg.

@@jeanluby4636 I gave up on it. I just do the poached egg in the microwave now, and put it on toast. :) Plenty of videos on that technique. Plus it takes only a minute to cook the egg.

I make a circle of bacon tails with rind cit off on top of bread. Line with half sliced tomato This leaves a cup like holder for the egg. Then season and sprinkle with shredded cheese on top. 190c for 8 minutes .Check half way.
