I’m a hardcore modern Mopar guy. Owned a Chrysler 300, Charger, 4 Challengers, and currently own a ‘23 Hellcat Challenger. If I were in the market for a EV, I wouldn’t even consider the new charger. Like you said, all EVs are like the same flavor, and they mean nothing to me. I simply would want the best bang for my buck. As it stands, currently a base Model 3 would be what I would buy. I like the size of it, doesn’t weigh too much, has good range, usable tech, the battery life seems acceptable, and is also made in America. The new charger is such a joke and it’s sad that my favorite brand has gone this direction.
As an ev owner now I can’t for the life of me understand why anybody would want fake engine noise. No noise is awesome, so is a cammed V8. Get one or the other or both but no pretend garbage. It isn’t needed
@ So the people who can't afford to just up and buy a brand new $70-$80k car are "idiots" are they? Thanks for your valuable insight on the whole situation. It's a damned sight more eco friendly to be driving a 20 year old "ICE" (oh how I hate that acronym) car which has another 10-15 years of life in it, than it is to be forced in to buying a brand new car, with barely proven technology, which only fits a certain kind of driver's needs, and will be obsolete in less than 10 years with absolutely zero resale value. Thanks, but No thanks.
On top of the very obvious performance discrepancy, you also get stuck with Dodge service. Tesla has definitely had problems with parts/etc. in the past, but mobile service is pretty sick. I had to replace my 12v battery in my 3, and they came to my house and replaced it in my driveway, with zero interaction from me, for like $117. I also had a side mirror shroud replaced at my house for less than $300. Good luck getting Dodge to do that.
I always wondered how mobile service worked. I live 120 miles from a Tesla store. Would they drive 3 hours to my house to fix my car? Seems kinda crazy.
Installing the vroombox as standard equipment was definitely a big NOPE for me. Those are joke things people install on shitboxes like mine just for the laughs, you don't seriously install one on a car
While most EVs tend to depreciate rapidly, the Charger's value will probably sink faster than a rock that has been weighed down with concrete. In a few years you'll likely be able to get one which has been barely driven with an extended factory warranty for some loose pocket change and a half eaten bag of Doritos. (I know you mean new, but I can only work with what I'm given here)
Well in the Chargers defense it actually looks good. Remember back in the late 90s when everything started looking like a bland bubble? Everyone complained about how boring cars were looking. Well all of Teslas styling language is just simply a slightly updated version of that. Instead of looking fast standing still, it looks slow moving fast. It's either a swoopy bubble or the wild ass cybertuck, that is so ugly it useless.
the only thing I can give them props for is that they made a 2 door version of one. Now if they had a 2 door version of the older 2012 Charger, I would have sold everything I had to get one and would have made sure I was buried in it when I died
Tesla has been making quality volume production EV's for 13 years. I have never driven a better EV much less a better car than a Model 3 Performance. Dodge's biggest problem is that their Scat Pack POS is barely better than a 2015 Model S P85 D, a 10 year old car. It is on par with my now 7 year old 2018 Model 3 Performance. If performance is what you are looking for, why spend $70-80k on a Dodge when you can spend $20k on a used Tesla?
Hardcore Mopar person might, who hates Elon and wants to ignore the better options in the market. I imagine incentives will be good for them because they won't sell, and depreciation will be massive so the few that do sell and popup in the secondary market may be a "good deal". With Mopar's record with electronics buying an all electric car just seems like a bad idea from the concept.
"This is a cheap vehicle. $54,000." Your opinions are invalid right here. Also, as poor build quality as Dodge is (believe me, I KNOW how bad they are, I bought my wife a brand new 2023 Dodge Challenger), it's still better than Tesla. Hate on me all you want, Tesla fanboys, it doesn't change Tesla's questionable build quality.
A vast majority of people know nothing about the vehicles they're driving, that's why they make commercials showcasing iPad interiors instead of reliability and function
yep, crazy, right. I Have a M3P for the daily, 4003LBS on the title. And its the older one now that does 0-60 in 3.1sec, 315 miles of range, and the normal M3 is 330miles of range.
Because of EV performance, muscle cars and exotics are primarily left with art and noise as their main attractions-exemplified by the Dodge Daytona. Car design is often an emotional choice, so logic and efficiency aren’t always top priorities. However, once you consider an EV, you’re focused on practicality. For instance, the Mustang Cobra looks great but only manages around 12 mpg. Similarly, a BMW may cost significantly more than a Lincoln in the long run. Meanwhile, an electric bike is even more efficient if pure logic is your goal. A key insight is that 0-60 performance works both ways: the faster an electric vehicle can accelerate, the more efficient it often is at braking (regenerative braking). Quick acceleration can correlate with efficient energy recovery when slowing down.
Man has a point when it comes to ev. You have to be insane to go ev with Dodge, just flat out insane. The Tesla is boss in every metric that matters in an ev, the battery, chassis, charging, safety, range, efficiency and performance. Don't reward companies for being half assed as with Dodge.
