Missed opportunity for the elf to solemnly say: "Tell me, where is Talitha? For I much desire to speak with her."
@ Kate! Please keep up your AMAZING character development. I know it can sometimes be hard when you have players that are a lot more up front with RP, but creating a confruntation and strife within the party like you did last ep brings a real feeling to the party. Everyone is amazing at roleplay, but that slap in the face rp that you did last ep really brings back everything into perspective. As a DM and player, everyone 'always' coming together can get bland. Keep up the 'wet fish"!
Joe! You are a human please take ancestral paragon and then take natural ambition to take that reach spell at 3rd level. That frees up your class at 4th level for anything else. Please lemon law this if you can. Just think that you will have more fun and can take a better class feat at level 4.(I might be doing that thing right now where I am yelling at a screen, knowing both that you can’t hear or see me, and that this was recorded in the past to boot.) Have fun with the new spells and abilities.
oooh also a really good call. I *love* ancestral paragon. shocked no one is considering it
Joe and Kate both took Natural Ambition at 1st level. They talk about it in the session 0 ep
@@Familystone78 Ah well. Still one of the best general feats available at 3rd level in my opinion. Must have missed that when listening. I am glad that they finally made it to 3rd level. Not that things will get any easier or anything, but I think they will be on the whole less “squishy”.
Great ep!! And while some might grumble, I LOVED hearing the discussion about leveling up and hearing you guys talking about mechanics and character planning. You guys ticked all the boxes with that one.
Also really love hearing them discuss level ups. Even when they're mostly wrong about what was said lol.
1:34:38 "I have become stronger." "Endure. In enduring, grow strong." I still have these lines sitting in my head 25 years later. Planescape: Torment was my intro to D&D and the wider world of TTRPGs in general. Amazing to hear the line pop up in this ep.
I listen to the podcast but I came to RUclips to make pretty much the same comment. Nicely done Skid! I happen to be playing Torment: Tides of Numenera right now and although it doesn't have the same feeling as the first time playing Planescape, it's a very good game.
Brother Ramius: "All lives are important..." Hubert: "Wheeeeeee!" Brother Ramius: [Honestly... bottlecap for constant test of faith.]
This episode was full of such fantastic cast chemistry and fun energy. ❤ I'm excited to see how they do with the new level up and am totally intrigued with plot 😊
Just wanna say, Tumsey walked so Hubert could run
I love you guys discussing your decisions for leveling up. As a newer player and GM, it's a nice added look behind the curtain as to why you might take feats or abilities
To answer matthews question. No. Unmistakable lore requires a recall knowledge check. Exploit vulnerability is not a recall knowledge. You can however use Unmistakable lore for using diverse lore for esoteric lore recall knowledge checks.
Also assurance can be taken as a general feat or skill feat. It has both tags.
Unmistakable with Diverse lore is so good. That's what my character has! Literally will always learn something
This is why I think it's STUPID AS HELL that you can't take Archetype feats that are also labeled as skill feats! Perhaps this is something that is changing in the Remaster!
FUCK!!! I just opened a can of worms didn't I?! Well, it will be LOTS of comments for the almighty algorithm I guess!
All skill feats are general feats. But not all general feats are skill feats. Ramius can absolutely take assurance medicine, to automatically hit DC 15.
Nuance : the Internet tells me some Skill Feats are not General... but still you're in the right direction that General Feats include many or most Skill Feats. // Of course, when you specifically gain a Skill Feat, you can only choose a feat with the Skill trait, but when you gain a General Feat, you can take a General Skill Feat.
@@Baraz_Red Off the top of my head I don't know any skill feats that aren't general feats. The skill trait even says they're general feats on AoN... So which feats don't count as general feats?
"A general feat with the skill trait improves your skills and their actions or gives you new actions for a skill. A feat with this trait can be selected when a class grants a skill feat or general feat.Mar 13, 2024"
From AoN.
@@Zygoth80 There are almost none at low levels, but later there are many Archetype / Skill Feats.
@@Baraz_Redthings like Treat Condition have the Archetype trait and Skill trait but I would also allow that to be selected as a general feat if a player wanted because of what the Skill trait says about skill feats being general feats.
@@Holupgarcon That I would NOT do! I DO(or rather WILL) let my players take the Archetype-Skill feats with Class feats/Free Archetype because I think it's stupid that you can take the General-Skill feats with either but not the Archetype ones! Hell, players will either be holding onto a feat for a level(to get the the skill feats that are odd-leveled) or be using a higher level feat to take a lower level one. Seems balanced enough to me, though I guess I might find out in my current campaign.
loving the kahn hiding inside buggles
Official Pathfinder Society ruling right now is that Legacy spells can still be taken, because PC1 and GMC did not add viable replacements for all the spells that were removed.
Magus, in particular, lost half of their attack rolls spells that were replaced by saving throw spells. This is a good change for every caster, but not good for Magus. Syd, talk to Troy, but he should continute to let you use shocking grasp, acid arrow, etc.
That said, make more use of Gouging Claw if you want straight damage!
The words of Frankie Boyle spring to mind any time someone mentions they play golf
"I've never played golf............ because I'm not trapped in a loveless marriage"
I guess he never golfed with his wife
Cool innovative concept for the ep to level up live
Great way to show off demiplane too
Glasscanon! I am lying in my bed listening to you... again! An I have been following you since episode 5 of Giantslayer. And hey! You made it! You freaking made it! Lots of love and respect! ❤🙌
Wow, thank you!
For Asta, if the name changed in the Remaster, BOTH versions of the spell are available. Its only if the name stayed the same that you must take the updated version.
I think it was Troy's decision to not allow that, since they are figuring out how to go through Remastered content while playing pre-Remaster AP
@jakubdrabent8158 that's a fair call by the GM to make. I wish they published their houserules and/or character sheets so we could follow along better with the cast.
Ive commented this a thousand times, they have decided that they would not allow that (because there is "arguing about it" in the internet)
@@SheppiTSRodriguez is it the actual arguing or is it Troy's perceived arguing similarly to his imaginary haters?
Tonight at the Glass Cannon: BEAVER TALK! All your questions answered! xD
I love these guys
I love how over the years Matthew has gotten more and more raunchy. And low brow, it's like y'all are corrupting him! I'm here for it
divvying out the high noons at the beginning is such a wholesome start, what a good start to my friday
the beaver gland is what they used to use for vanilla extract.
This is my favorite episode of the new campaign!!
Fun Episode,

Finally a Level up!
Absolutely LOVED the level up on air part of the show! That's what real gaming is at the table.
My GCP bingo card is never full until Skid drops an obscure reference. Elfquest ftw tonight!
One of the great series!
Thank you for the ElfQuest reference, Skid! I love that series.
I love the on-screen level up
I wish there was more visuals with the character sheets and such
All skill feats are also general feats. So you can take assurance here.
Cool ep. I've never had the good fortune to play Pathfinder, so it's really cool to see what happens at level up!
But also, Buggles killed his old mistress?! Did we know that?!
Love a good level up!
58:45 - Whoa, just think of the amount of experience Alilly must have been worth! Now to just use Zephyr to farm the rest of these elves and they'll level up again in no time.
Matthew sober: "Call me Matthew"
Nooner Matt: "Call me Nooner Matt"
Great ep, thanks gang! Plenty of bips and bops. Poop Cliff was a particularly good one, almost sent us back to Harry T. and the college ball highlight reel. *cues up Walking With Reverence*
I always hope for a Joe divine lance kill.
It's a perfectly fine offensive cantrip, Joe! Pew! Pew!
Asta hasn't used it in a few episodes, but remember Arcane Cascade gives a speed bonus for Laughing Shadow Magus. (5 feet since Asta is wearing armor). This combined with fleet would give her 40 ft movement speed, which would then make her dimensional assault go to 20 ft.
Also, you can use a General Feat slot to get General Feats OR Skill Feats. Skill Feat slots can only be used for Skill Feats.
Ward medic is great for 2 reasons. 1- you heal more peoples for less die rolls. That crit you rolled for Asta now also crits Buggles. Failed checks are not as bad since you do take less time to treat in general. 2- Ward medic also scales with your medicine proficiency. Once you get master, you can treat 4 people at once.
OMG !! (spoiler) I just realized I know the "lost city of Loskialua" from running Starfinder's Dead Suns! Chills! Awesome.
Re: that thing Troy thought they did for the first time on any show: I happen to be listening to Episode 81 of Androids & Aliens right now, and that thing just happened there, too. How do I break out of this loop of synchonicity?
1:23:03 Pretty sure Prof. Eric said that just because a spell isn't in the Remaster doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and can't be used, in the Remaster.
I watched the poop cliff bit several times. 10/10
Oh, geez, a poop bit will get me EVERY time.
Can never catch these live because it falls on my Pathfinder night. Staying up late to watch though!
You guys really need an episode called “Oops, All Bant!” (Quaker™️ remembers…)
Troy role-playing with Troy is my favorite part of this EP. Great work gang. Keep it rolling.
Don’t forget that increased proficiency in skills to expert, master, etc. will give you access to skill feats associated with them! Some of them are better than others but they’re definitely unique and stand out.
Wow wow…WOW! I just finished relistening to Dead Suns like a month ago and the payoff reveal of them being IN LOSKIALUA is crazy! I’m kinda shocked that none of Matthew, Joe or Skid had a stronger reaction. Very cool, love it, keep it up y’all
Matthew’s discussion of a spreadsheet suggests it’s difficult to know what’s covered: just an FYI that if you have a character sheet in Foundry, the “Party Sheet” (where you can also manage loot and exploration activities) allows you to compare skills and languages across the entire party.
Like the on air lvl up I like a bit of crunch
Troy just casually demonetizing the episode by mentioning semen cookbooks 😂🤣😂
I loved Elfquest.
I bet the party will kind of forget about Hubert which will make the reunion with him all the funnier
Asta needs merchantile lore for the value checks xD
Can you imagine where the conversation would have gone if you mentioned the Beaver Saloon was in Pound, WI?
I love that Sydney is carrying the Grant Berger powergaming torch, but she needs coaching on how to do it well. 😂 Love you guys
Aw man I miss Grant!
@@LLJW4 me too! I hope he will come back one day, when he's ready.
30:54 Skid pointing out exactly what I'm thinking.
Bottlecap for Skid for immediately calling Castrovel after they stepped through the gate
What I heard in their conversation...
Sydney: "I have gone down at every single combat."
Troy: "That's your role in this party."
LOL
Also, a shame that someone doesn't have something like Force Push. It'd have been really tragic if Hubert "tripped" and fell over the Pooping Cliff.
Castor oil is from a castor bean. Castoreum is from the gland amd is Used as vanilla or raspberry "natural flavor"
I feel you, Skid. First everyone not knowing jack about Final Fantasy, then everyone not knowing jack about Elf Quest! You're gonna need more booze sponsorships XD
This show is hilarious. I'm surprised the channel doesn't have more subscribers.
As an additional aside to the banter, went to the Outer Banks last year and ate at a sea food restaurant called "Dirty Dicks". The tagline was "I got crabs at Dirty Dicks."
Syd,
Going for Fleet would put you at 30ft movement speed. It would technically save you an action from having to enter Arcane Cascade Stance. Arcane Cascade Stance is almost worthless to you because you are always two handing your Katana. Do you want 3 exta HP or 15ft Dimensional Strike distance for positioning purposes. Flanking is going to be extremely important.
For spells, Horizon Thunder Sphere is pretty good. Has spellstrike use, has range and AOE applications.
Blazing Bolt can be used in spellstrike and is a ranged spell. Mirror Image is a great defensive spell for you being the main front line fighter.
Just a couple suggestions from a fellow Magus player.
1:20:01 "...stable mucking?"
Also don't ignore Fast Recovery, shaking poisons and diseases off quicker has saved my life in the past (well my character's life). And healing faster over night has come in handy as well.
I typically use my Magus slots for buff and defense spells and all of my damage comes from cantrips
Elfquest! Yes! 😃
I love the fact that Hubert is in love with Asta.
Im so glad the casters, Skid and Joe are finally out of caster hell (Levels 1-2) Great chill episode, I love the new Quest!!
Unmistakable Lore and Diverse Lore are outright OP with Thaumaturge. They definitely work with Esoteric Lore and if you want to optimize the class, that's definitely the way to go.
Unmistakeable Lore doesn't work with Exploit Weakness though, to note
@@deev791 I know. Because both feats I mentioned deal with Recall Knowledge Specifically, not any "Esoteric Lore" rolls.
Is this a Star Wars Reference? Deep Bespin 9?
Will the party be able to complete the Parsec run in under 12 Kessels?
Continual Recovery is better at this level, changes the cool down from 1 hour to 10 minutes.
This just occurred to me, but has Joe been ignoring the 1 hour immune period for Treat Wounds? I recall multiple instances of successive Treat Wounds on the same target.
Joe already took Continual Recovery at level 2.
Idea : they could start with a "bottle cap" just to help as they are level 2 in episode 40. :P
26:35 was like Charlie and Pim from Smiling Friends, discovering an apparent flat earth. Loved the scene.
I am starting to understand this system, how it works, what is ok to do (doeset get one outright killed), and so forth. May your Dragrons be small Dragons, and good fortune abide with your journey. Peace out!
Near Detroit they had to rename a turn off from I 75 and the road is Big Beaver Rd...exit 69
When I was in 7th grade, I went to Spencer's and got a magnet that said, "Save a tree, Eat a beaver." At the time, I didn't get it. I just thought it was a clever anti deforestation sentiment. I had it up in my locker for a while, but when I came back from Spring Break, it was gone...
You can always take a skill feat in the General feat slot (presumably since they are a bit weaker)
How did this episode not end on a poop cliffy?
If Barnes is a strength based Thaumaturge, he might want to take Initimdating Prowess. Gives you the benefits of Initimdating Glare and a +1 circumstance bonus to demoralize and coerce, but has +3 strength and expert intimidation requirements.
Hope all goes well in Naishville!
As someone who lives in a tiny town off the side of the road, it's funny hearing New Yorkers think it's creepy. There are like, 4 families with kids and EVERY other house is old people.
The Magus Laughing shadow movement bonus only applies when you are in Arcane Cascade. So Astah, as a Kitsune, should have a movement speed of 25 foot. I don't think Astah has ever entered her Arcane Cascade. It might be worth using that Magus feature.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT BANT?!🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
Funny hearing the players fumble the Genderless character stuff but it does seem like T-Bone is trying his best to stay on top of it. A lot of fun episodes from the GCN lately
Thumbnail is of Sydney finding out she is Tony Danza's illegitimate daughter.
weirdly I wonder if Gentle Repose or its equivalent would assist in slowing the decay curse?
Joe I would highly highly recommend risky surgery if not Assurance in Medicine
Risky surgery means that you CRITICALLY SUCCEED on like a 3 or higher
Since all proficiencies are tied to level, they all go up by 1. Since AC is a proficiency, it goes up by 1 for everyone, same with to hit, and the bonus for every skill. Pf2e is great for "big numbers go brrrr" type play/players
We call it the Om Nom Nom Nom Curse.....
Hey folks. Thoughts on Demiplane being acquired by Roll20? I start my training for content conversion on the Demiplane toolset in the near future.
Best ttrpg pod around!
👏👏👏
Wait, is Joe an expert in 2 skills? Medicine and he was thinking of taking Nature? I thought you could only be expert at one skill by level 3 (as it's your first skill increase)?
Edit- Didn't watch session zero, but I maybe figured it out. @lvl. 1, Versitile Human, take Battle Medicine (a prerequisite for Medic Dedication), Take Medic Dedication at lvl 2, becoming an Expert in Medicine, allowing him to take Continual Recovery as his Skill Feat at lvl 2, which means at lvl 3 he can get a second skill to Expert.
The beaver glands do stink.
SKID! I READ ELF QUEST! You call yourselves NERDS!?? lol
Would buggles alter ego have knowledge of Castervel?
Dr Noon and Dr Pepp still argue about whether or not they should include alcohol in their beverages
Does this mean master Hedge is now a level 1 adventurer? Not familiar with the pf2e classes but can see him as a bard
@1:33:12 you can actually see Sydney questioning her career choices...
The sound of wee
Come on, get happy!
omg lmao, i started crying stupid Hubert lol
Beaver is delicious. I’m a trapper and it’s great slow cooked. Like a roast beef but better.
