@@DeANGELIS4735 I'm not sure. It may have been around the same time because Fredro Starr, Sticky Fingaz, Hassan Johnson, Isiah Washington & Keith David appeared on New York Undercover as well.
As a dude that grew up in Brooklyn this movie was a classic. My favorite scene was when Striker was talking shit to Rodney in his car and he had to straighten him out real quick lol 🤣🤣🤣.
This movie was Mekhi Phifer’s breakout role. Can we please get blackbusters on the following movies: She’s Gotta Have It School Daze Do The Right Thing Jungle Fever Malcolm X Crooklyn Get On The Bus Girl 6 Bamboozled A Miracle At St. Anna Red Hook Summer Chi Raq
When they were trying to figure out if this was spikes ONLY hood movie.. technically “tales from the hood “ is a spike Lee joint. Clockers and tales from the hood both released in 1995. And, I’m willing to bet, those images in the beginning credits of clockers, came from the same bundle of images used in slideshow in the last scene of tales from the hood. When crazy k was on the spinning table.
This podcast is gold. I’ve been down since day one! Y’all should do a breakdown of The Wire. I’m born and raised in Baltimore and I’d trust yall eyes to dissect it properly.
Clockers is an amazing underrated masterpiece that's so overlooked as maybe Spike's best work outside of SEVERAL!!!! Had this on VHS so i grew up with this movie ✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️
The opening shots were great recreations. I thought it was real crime scene photos. Plus Richard Price the writer also wrote the overall plot to the wire and story of micheal jackson video Bad
Originally this was A Martin Scorsese /Robert Deniro film with Deniro playing Harvey Keitel character with of course Scorsese directing but they did Casino instead. I wonder how that film would have looked. I think still good but a different film
Another dope episode salute 🫡 and Clokers is an underrated hood movie and Hot Take Tone was on point Tone with the take on Harvey Keitel character lastly I agree 💯 percent we don't need to know ever thing about entertainers religious political values now if they do something messed up I get it. You know there being some sort of media coverage and outrage but if all it is is they're just expressing their opinion. Yeah we we don't need to hear all of that. That should be something you know, even athletes. I mean that should be something we don't need to know about that, even their personal life. Again, if it's something dangerous or outlandish they're doing, I get it. But yeah it is too much. But again dope episode you guys are killing it
It’s in that lane with movies like Sugar Hill & Jason’s Lyric…almost timeless classics, but still masterpieces in black cinema!❤️
@TheVizions Sugar Hill is so underrated no one talks about it
Fun fact: this was Mekhi Phifer’s first film.
