Sheryl Lee Ralph’s reaction is true shock and horror. She’s been told some of the worst things in Hollywood being a Black actress in her early years and even now but it seems like she’s never heard that one before.
I'm just basing this on her Wikipedia and IMDb pages; it looks like Sheryl started acting professionally when she was 21, so that's probably why she didn't hear a lot of disgusting pedophiliac comments 🤷♀️
It’s interesting that just one year later, when she was 17, she was filming Neon Demon. I remember in the commentary she said that she turned 18 during the filming and they had to wait to film certain scenes until she turned 18. It’s ironic that the year after not getting a part because she was deemed “unfuckable” by whatever piece of garbage that was, she stars in a movie where the entire plot is built around her being a new fashion model that is so “perfect” that all the other models are jealous to the point of being murderous towards her. It must be so strange and often creepy or toxic to be a teenage girl in that show business world. Think of the craziness going through our brains in those years, 16 and 17, think of dealing with that kind of shit when you were that age on top of everything else. Your average 16 year old hearing that someone on a professional high level said that you were “unfuckable” , and also it’s a father and daughter road trip movie, what are you supposed to do with that at 16? How are you supposed to get your head around that? She’s very intelligent and was probably more mature and a lot more informed about that world than most teenagers so hopefully she was able to navigate through that shit and not let it get to her too much. I’m sure her older sister helped her a lot in that, probably was protective of her too
I remember one of my school drama teachers warning us that this would happen if we auditioned in big cities. He described a time where some casting directors weren't even looking at audition tapes, ONLY the actors photos, for this exact reason Ms Fanning is describing. Unbelievable.
Actually, they look at photos/headshots first because they want a specific look for the role which may have nothing to do with their 'fuckability'. You dont cast Tom Cruise as Django for instance
No person should talk about a minor in this way. That is so disgusting. We need to teach people to stop sexualizing kids. Doesn’t matter their appearance, age, race, gender, nothing! No kid should be talked about in this way.

The movie was supposed to be a father daughter film and as a teenager u start growing and blossoming with a certain physical charm that's what they wanted actually
This is the real problem, that everyone in Hollywood just lets these type of comments slide rather than confront them, report them, or at least, put them on media blast
In any that has women on it, sadly. Don't you think that your fuckability index is not affecting your job possibilites at McDonald's - I'm not even mentioning Hooters.
That's why I prefer to work in a female dominated industry or industry where I work with other women, such as working in a women's hospital or women's shelter
Like that lady said, there's so many things wrong with that statement. Also why would you want a super sexy person for a father daughter comedy?? Like why is that the criteria? That man needs to be investigated thoroughly....
Would be the same God of the Bible who said this? “When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be punished, for the slave is his property." How black people can be Christians after Christians enslaved them I really don't know. Maybe make an effort to learn about how the Bible supporting slavery helped keep it going. I just want you to finally be free as if you are still following the religion of your slave masters you are still a slave.

That's crazy. This world's just nuts. Sometimes people need to keep their thoughts to themselves and not put it out in public. Talking about a 16-year-old that way when you're an adult that's just wrong. Good on her for growing past it. This is why women need to band together for their own strength and voice. Wait!!! “If the Girl isn’t BUSTED” What does that mean exactly. I would love to know. What do YOU look like??? I remember being a teenager. And I remember going on group dates to the movies. My twin brother and his girlfriend, his best friend and his girlfriend, my best friend and her boyfriend, and any other friends of ours who wanted to attend and me and my boyfriend. And I remember my brother and his friends always being interested in cute actresses in the movies and on television. They didn’t need a girl to be a smoke show or the hottest chick alive. To find her attractive. She just needed to be cute and be a nice girl. To find her attractive. The chicks that were considered F*ckable were the chicks that all our male friends thought of as high maintenance that are teases or so loose you would be afraid of getting a STD just looking at them. Describing a girls looks as “busted” makes you sound like a A-hole. And it’s always the guys that are UGLY that refuse to even talk to a girl unless she’s a high maintenance chick. But all of them refuse to even bother looking at you because you aren’t up to their standard.
I grew up watching Dakota’s movies and was surprised about Elle making her way in the industry. These two have brought a lot of joy to my home theater and hope they continue to do so while being healthy and happy away from all that toxic evil
I love them in My Neighbor Totoro!
She is definitely one of the best actors of her young generation, she was amazing in Neon Demon
And fckable...
Actresses have been told this for decades, sometimes to their faces.
And that's terrible, but this case is even worse because she was just 16
She’s so pure this makes me so mad
Calling women pure is part of the problem ❤
@@missbeaussieyou’re taking that too deep- people call men pure because they’re wholesome all the time. Relax
@@missbeaussiegenerally yes but when they obviously meant pure as in wholesome you’re just reaching
@@Sydokudo they though? I agree with the first commentor.
@@Sydoku as a woman who's also on the extreme-left I totally agree with this, calling someone "pure" is not misogynistic, I say it about men all the time too
Sheryl Lee Ralph’s reaction is true shock and horror. She’s been told some of the worst things in Hollywood being a Black actress in her early years and even now but it seems like she’s never heard that one before.
Exactly. I was kinda of caught off gaurd by her level of pure shock. Like yes auntie fr! Idk how you didn't know, it's been like this from the start!
I’m not familiar with her, but does she have experience as a child actor?
I'm just basing this on her Wikipedia and IMDb pages; it looks like Sheryl started acting professionally when she was 21, so that's probably why she didn't hear a lot of disgusting pedophiliac comments 🤷♀️
That gasp is all of us. Geez.
The mediator is the best on the show. He reaction nailed the shock of this girl's statement
I’m sure her older sister helped her a lot in that, probably was protective of her too
I am SO glad she can share this with the knowledge of her worth and how evil that statement really was
I remember one of my school drama teachers warning us that this would happen if we auditioned in big cities.
@@Rowlurorowf Oh, sweet summer child...
No person should talk about a minor in this way. That is so disgusting. We need to teach people to stop sexualizing kids. Doesn’t matter their appearance, age, race, gender, nothing! No kid should be talked about in this way.
16 year olds have sex, not sure if you knew. Having a movie with sex appeal to other 16 year olds helps a movie. Sorry, maybe grow up

I hate hate hate that there are creeps, perverts, and evil people like this in an industry that’s supposed to be about making beautiful art and stories.
Elle and Dakota are two of the most shining, beautiful, sweet women in Hollywood! And I pray they always stay that way.
The industry unfortunately sells based on the dirt and that's because we fail as consumers it's literally our fault they put actors through all that
What bastards. This was such a degrading comment. Woman are more than just an object to be thrown around by revolting men how ever they please.
You are a great actress. 💗
The movie was supposed to be a father daughter film and as a teenager u start growing and blossoming with a certain physical charm that's what they wanted actually
My jaw dropped when she said that. Absolutely disgusting!
Truly disgusting!
I'm so outraged!
To say 16yo Elle was unfckable is the biggest lie ever told!
She was fantastic in The Great.
In what other industry is this a normal thing to say? That's fucking disgusting
Pro women's sports.
Modeling?
This is the real problem, that everyone in Hollywood just lets these type of comments slide rather than confront them, report them, or at least, put them on media blast
In any that has women on it, sadly. Don't you think that your fuckability index is not affecting your job possibilites at McDonald's - I'm not even mentioning Hooters.
That's why I prefer to work in a female dominated industry or industry where I work with other women, such as working in a women's hospital or women's shelter
Wow! I love how she tells the story though, we all need to hear it exactly like that 👍
Like that lady said, there's so many things wrong with that statement. Also why would you want a super sexy person for a father daughter comedy?? Like why is that the criteria? That man needs to be investigated thoroughly....
Usually 16 year old ppl appear more attractive and pretty than kids younger than that that could be a reason they wanted business through selling Elle
God was looking out for her on that one for sure. That goes to show you that was their main Agenda for the movie as a whole.
Where was God all the times other 16-year-olds got assaulted?
Would be the same God of the Bible who said this?
“When a man strikes his slave, male or female, with a rod and the slave dies under his hand, he shall be avenged. But if the slave survives a day or two, he is not to be punished, for the slave is his property."
How black people can be Christians after Christians enslaved them I really don't know. Maybe make an effort to learn about how the Bible supporting slavery helped keep it going. I just want you to finally be free as if you are still following the religion of your slave masters you are still a slave.

You're right, she was totally fuckable...but who is this child you're rambling about?
Good on her ppl and agents for protecting her from sht like this. She and her sister started acting so young, one could only imagine how much other stuff was said about her that she never heard.
Meryl Streep already a star got the same feedback from.producer who also called her " ugly" in Italian..
You in “THE GREAT”-the bestest ever! Watched the seasons 2x already 🥰🥰
Me too, one of the only shows I've watched by myself and laughed my ass off!!
Omg, yes! I love that show. Wish it didn’t take so long for seasons to come out. Nicholas is also great…hilarious, both of them. ❤😊
"The Great"? Is that the docu-fiction about Elle Fanning's ass? I saw a clip or two and it looks...promising
My jaw actually went slack. There’s no way that was said 😧 Unbelievable! Poor Elle.
Jfc that girl needs a hug. Who the hell talks like that about a child?
I would have hugged her and ressured her that she was in fact totally fckuble
Elle was so lucky to have people looking out for her, this only validates the claims of other child starts of her time & after and their stories of never having that’s and protection or even that “protection” being taken advantage of by sick adults
omg. what. the. f***. Why are there so many of these stories!? It's gross enough it happens but it's ESPECIALLY gross that it's towards a 16 YEARS OLD (And not the first adult celeb. that has shared their past horrid "feedback") ! I'm glad there is an increasing amount of these open discussions. I do believe we need to shed more light on to these very real and disgusting issues.
SHOUT OUT! To her agents for protecting her from these comments. No body needs to hear that sh*t as it should have never come out of someone's mouth.
She’s incredibly brave for speaking about this. It would’ve felt so humiliating to her at the time
Someone check in with that man’s daughter
Good on the agents for not telling her about this!!
Imagine asking, "How is that relevant?" as if movies aren't supposed to be about ideals, and therefore, appearance is extremely important.
That's crazy. This world's just nuts. Sometimes people need to keep their thoughts to themselves and not put it out in public. Talking about a 16-year-old that way when you're an adult that's just wrong. Good on her for growing past it. This is why women need to band together for their own strength and voice. What are we going to come together and work as a big team and kick some ass at some really cool things instead of tearing each other down? There are so many amazing things in this world. Somebody beautiful thing so we just don't make it that way.
Elle has grown up to be such a pretty young lady. It's wonderful to see her being so normal.
Normal??
it’s a blessing she didn’t get that role she deserves the best
And she is still conditioned to protect the people who treated her this way. She’s walking very carefully around that topic, not naming names, not giving the title of the movie, etc. :(
Exactly. Im tired of people not exposing these demonic pervs who prey on children. They all need to be named and destroyed. Now is the best time with the strike and all. Get rid of these monsters in ever industry.
People love to deny and get sue happy, unfortunately. They would cry defamation of character, loss of work and wages, etc. Unfortunately, unless a bunch of people come together at once higher-ups continue to thrive and threaten.
Thats because she didnt actually hear it from them and has no proof it was even said at all. She heard a rumor and has presented it as a fact.
