Yes it seems like a layout for the bridge of a surface ship.
Maybe they made it this way because it's an island and they need to see all sides.
Did you see any numbers from TODT??
That feature early in this video might have been ammo storage and the bars might have held some covering that extended out but it bent and damaged during an attack???

Finally able to catch up on your adventures, the wife has been in the hospital and I have not been able to watch. This was one crazy fortified island! The effort to build all this infrastructure is mind boggling! Wow, ammunition racks still in place; I don't think we have ever seen that before!! I would never have know that these metal posts were used to support machine guns if you had not educated us. They were standardized all along the Atlantic wall, must be hundreds of them still stuck in concrete! What an unusual fire control bunker! The interior was a one of a kind! So much wood still in place! Crazy level changes! So interesting! Thanks for taking us along! Stay safe and stay well!

I so would've loved to have seen what the island looked like when it was functional and manned. The barracks and other buildings along with the bunkers and gun positions intact would be something to see. Looking forward to seeing more when you go back. Just love the coastal artillery positions.

What a fascinating location. The way these structures are built are incredible. You have to wonder what they were used for. The one arch top bunker with the storage room beside it I wonder if it was for a pac gun? The large complex at the end of the video seems to be a command and communications center as well as a fire and control bunker. The two tables on the platform may have been used for plotting firing orders and the smaller one for communicating the orders to the gun batteries. Some of the mounts by the shutters may have been used for range finders. Love seeing this location.

That is the most unusual bunker you've ever shown us.That is so strange. I have no clue why they would have built this that way. Strange. Now that munition storage with the crate holders was awesome! For that to still be here is amazing! I would never have believed it was there if you hadn't shown it. The gun positions were massive. That has to be one of the most fortified positions you've ever shown us. This was definitely worth waiting for. Thank you HH and EE to for finding and sharing this. Take care and stay safe. 💖💯

I learned so much from that bunker. 1st time I have seen one with tables and other things, which shows that they did not have a lot of wasted space. Gives you a better idea how cramped those places could be because it took so much work to get the things built. Typical military, make sure the equipment is good, but creature comfort is a waste of space and money.

You were so right when you said there was more to come. That command and control bunker was like nothing I have seen before, and I think the same for you, just seemed to meander off in al sorts of different directions, but when it was built a different story, they knew what everything was for, and how it all worked together to make a fort. Again HH with the running trenches for skinny people. Most assured that TODT did not work on that. You are correct it is like a medieval castle of the F&C bunker. All sorts of add on sections that intertwined with each other. This place must have been a weapons mechanic nightmare. Notice that the North Atlantic is still unpredictable and unforgiving. My friend that is the most odd and unique island construction you shown to date. Glad to see you both got off of it and back to mainland safe. Heal-up stay safe and well. Good day to you EE.

This island just keeps giving. It was really amazing to see the original wooden shell racks still there, after all these years. That was just an incredible find in itself. But that observation bunker takes the cake. What an amazingly unique bunker. All those mysterious outside doors and pockets, and the interior, still with most of their original fitouts, wooden slats, and steel doors. Just an incredible sight. The pedestal, and the bar, sticking out from the walls, underneath the vision ports are, most likely, for sighting compasses, used to calculate a targets' bearing. The big flat metal plate was probably the main map table. The whole bunker reeks of (apart from sheep, I assume), History. That would have been an incredible hive of activity during action stations. The rusty metal flakes all over the floor are from the unusual use of large metal plates for the roof of the various observation levels. It is a shame to think, that one day, Mother Nature, will have her way, and the bunker ceilings will rust away, and collapse, and we will lose an incredibly unique piece of WW2 history. But that is life, and at least we have these amazing videos from out HH Team to look back on. Thank you both for trekking to this special place, and sharing this incredible site with us. Cheers to you both! Stay safe and well!

@@WW2HistoryHunteres you need to add to your list of items taken on these trips something to deal with the spiders because you can't guarantee that you will find something suitable on the location. (Maybe a flyswatter because they are quite light? You might need to modify it to make it long enough.) (I don't like spiders either. )😊

@@WW2HistoryHunter It is interesting about your comment about when you know that it is safe. I wonder with some of these sites about the risk of unexploded ordinances? Vimy Ridge is the site of a very large and prolonged world war I battle where they tell you to stay on the trail as they say there would still be thousands of unexploded ordinances.

Very interesting WW2 Atlantic Wall position. Another intro of HH & EE off to yet another adventure. Yes, some people do have that special connection with annimals. It also seems like EE knows mountian sheep dialogue and for a minute there I thought you did also HH, when you blabbered blah, blah explaining the unique wooden ammo storage bins. Of course, EE was right when discovering the searchlight mount, perfect location. The anti-aircraft gun mount looked extremely heavy duty. Would have loved to see the original gun there. The MG stations were set up strategically also. The fire control station was impressive. You were right HH, that bunker was CRAZY!! So many shutters. It's a good thing you were able to go inside during that rainstorm. Weather can get pretty nasty on the coast. I could hear the wind and rain. Just shows how strong that structure still is with the concrete and steel reinforcements. Also, wonder what the pedestals were for?? Bad sheep using the bunker for their own private bathroom to do their dirty business. No respect. The shield with the original German production company name on it was a rare find. You were quite the tropper HH going out there with a hurt leg. Thank you HH and EE, thoroughly enjoyed that WW2 adventure. Please stay safe and keep smiling.

You can now add Sheep dialect to your list of languages you know. 😅 Of course, you had to run into spiders 🕷 HH. I bet there is so much more to see and discover at the site. Sorry to hear that you suffered a battle injury to your leg HH. I hope it's much better. Thanks EE & HH. Have loads of fun on the rest of your long summer roadtrip. 😊
