you don't polish an intake port. you polish the exhaust ports. the intake ports gets the exact opposite treatment, the surface is rough to help promote atomization through turbulence. the exhaust ports are polished to reduce turbulence, which increase flow/velocity.
Modern fuel injection has advanced to the point were fuel injectors have perfected the fuel spray pattern so that atomization of the fuel occurs upon injection into the fast flow of air entering the head... Many higher revving 4 strokes, engines that rev over 8k rpm, do indeed use polished intake & exhaust ports. inline 4 sport bikes commonly have this. Inorder to make power at high rpm, you need to maximize the cfm so that the most air flows in. Rough ports work against you at high rpm. polished ports are also used to prevent carbon build up in modern engines. On Older engines that used carburetors, it was important to leave the intake ports a little rough, so turbulence could mix the fuel and air for better atomization.
"Still a second gear motorcycle. Amazed they pushed the stock ECU that far. " Those statements tell how bad the regular KX450 is. They wrecked that engine with the '24 model year. Hope the suspension is still great. Love the KX suspension out of all the stock bikes.
I rode my friends KX who I race with last summer and it is a dog. I let him ride my YZ to turn a few laps and he said "I think there's a motor issue with my bike". He was coming off a 23 KTM and got a deal from his local dealer on the KX...regrets
At these prices im not surprised i dont see anyone riding motorcycles out here in the desert any more. You can get a couple year old utv the whole family can enjoy and a teenager won't be a teenager by the time they mow enough lawns to buy a motorcycle.
Still love my 2008 kx450, last model before fuel injection which brought a ton of extra weight, so my bike is pretty light for a 450, especially the new models. The bike has a ton of low end, and it was an MSRP of around 6k. The price nowadays is insane... like I can buy a side by side for that price. Looks gorgeous though.
I have a 2008 as well! I absolutely love that motorcycle… it was second to the CRF450R in MXA’s 450 shootout in 2008 which some considered the best 450 4-stroke ever made. I pretty much have mine set up just like the modern SR! It’s plenty good enough for me.
@ sick dude, love that bike. First nice dirt bike I have ever owned, my first big purchase as an adult. I grew up riding some really old beaters and made due with what I had… 1976 xl 75 >> 1979 rm 125 >> 1989 kx125 (loved that bike) >> 1996 yz250 (huge upgrade in bike handling and power) >> 2008 kx450. When I first rode my 450 I could not believe the power. Completely different animal to the 2 strokes I was used to, and really upped my skills. I was able to start making way better hill climbs and had excellent suspension for learning how to hit woops. My 450 has been sitting for a couple years and I really want to do a big maintenance on it, get some fresh plastics in which I’d like to find more of the modern fenders for the style… but I need to find some buddies to ride with. Moved to a new state and have no friends lol 😂
I can’t imagine Kawasaki not expecting to get scrutinized for Selling the most expensive bike in the class yet missing a bunch of key parts their competitors have for less. 😅
in 1978 i paid $520 for a yamaha YZ80E the first year the 80 had the mono shock. this included 4% tax 2 strokes are just more fun if you can keep them in the powerband. plus they smell better!
The only reason for the $13,500 MSRP is that Kawasaki already knows they are going to have to do deep rebates to move them… That makes their $2500 rebate $1500 instead. They just padded the price up front!
I want to thank Motocross Action Magazine for being my go-to Motocross information source for the last 50 years. Ever since I was 13. 👍
True.

The stock bike is still too much bike for nearly every rider anyway
You guys should do a RMZ 450 build similar to the SR, plus a shock and piston maybe, and compare the bikes and prices. That'd be interesting.
Nah. Suzuki needs to update the bike, plain and simple.
Yeah, that’s what l wanna see. Spend the amount of money to bring it up to a WE/SR’s price range and see how good the RM-Z can get…😉
@@sdb92 Never going to happen , Suzuki has made it very clear no more dirt bikes .
4:36 4 cc's of oil !!! Sweet!!!
Hinson cover, but no actual clutch 😂😂
I googled it and only get adds for clutch upgrades for it haha.
I know ,delusions of grandeur😂

Yo tengo una Yamaha 450 2006 que funciona perfectamente.

We need a VS video this kawasaki Sr edition vs the Honda crf450r works edition. Or just a works edition mini shootout video.
It's really $6k more because the normal model always has a ton of rebates.

nothing on this bike to justify the price
15k out the door for a dirtbike is insane.no wonder the sport is dying.
Is there any stat or report to prove it? Just curious
Great review from credible people!
Shout out from Philippines 🎉🎉🎉
Almost 15,000$ otd.🎉stock hubs? Still a nice machine, but IDK.stock monster under 11k.
Beautiful bike, just one problem it’s a Kawasaki
It's just your problem.😛
@@RobertZsomborinot my problem, just my opinion which everyone is entitled to. As I said beautiful bike just not for me.
Yep, you know the quality will be awful as usual.
🐝🏁 Video 👍
Bike actually sounds like it has no power
All the 4 strokes sound like that to me. It's awful
Yes sounds like a farting machine
What camera do yall use? I love the quality of it.

Waiting for the dealership to call me to get mine🤟
There should be A factory edition shout. Lol
Air intake is on top.. not sure how you would get dirt in intake unless you are servicing the bike upside down.
nice !!!---TRY 2024 Keefer kx450 F Map----- adds MORE """SMOOTH SNAPPP !! ""' PUNCH
Yeah, missing a few things... 😂
Nice
So... KX 450 SR OR CRF 450 WR ???
The Honda
WE all the way! 🤙🏻
The 450 looks so cool and sounds amazing but it so pricey
Gnarly
No se si han mejorado la calidad de los plásticos, si no es así enseguida se ponen mate, pierden el brillo. Y la moto luce muy mal.
So for the extra price tag you get basically nothing, you would be better of just buying a brand new RMZ 450.
First to comment 👀
Great job !
Needs KYB components! 🤙🏻
Fake A kit forks and Shock. Fake Hinson, I smell pit squid
