Yvonne de Carlo gives a wonderful performance: delicate, subtle and gentle and she was indeed on of the most beautiful women ever to grace the silver screen.
My favorite characters for both Yvonne and Charlton. As Sephora, Yvonne depicts the quality woman that every man wants in this movie. Stunningly beautiful, honest, brave, maternal and above all LOYAL. This scene is so subtly acted yet conveys such powerful emotions by both actors. A masterpiece movie that will never be equaled by modern Hollyweird .

“He would not be only the God of Israel or Ishmael alone, but of all men. It is said He created all men in his image. And he would dwell in every heart, in every mind, in every soul.” Damn, Moses being a free thinker. Whether he actually said this or not, I love this version of Moses.
My Beloved Sister was 7 years old in 1956. GOD Blessed her as she watched movies like this. She brought Our Families to Me from all over the World. My precious Sweet queen.
This epic picture was what I grew up with , born in 64 it was the mainstay and a must watch for millions across America! Just the music alone brings back floodgates of memories of Holy Week, Easter ! the movie almost always was shown on the networks ( back when we had good TV) . Memories of spring, Easter dinner, chocolate Easter baskets, love for each other , the understanding of what God was and the family get together for a wonderful meal that mom made. I am so glad that I have these memories and good times that took place when I was growing up. We are definitely living in a different world now , it’s not the world that I grew up in, it has changed so quickly, but one thing has not changed,God! I believe in him, I have faith in him and no one can take away the great memories we had growing up no matter what they try !
When I was very young I was fascinated by the actors and actresses beauties without regards on the depth of the words spoken in the movie. Now that I analyze every word from the actors, they are meaningful in depth.
Sephora guided Moses Peace be upon him with all her heart and wisdom. She believed in God All Mighty very much. Very good actors in this movie. I love this scene. ❤️
Just learned that the wife of Moses is played by Yvonne De Carlo. She was Lily Munsters from the 60s TV show The Munsters. She was so young and beautiful, and was beautiful as Lily Munster.
2:00 Moses & Sephora's first date. 2:59 The way Moses looking UP at Sephora is kind of adorable, makes him appear like a big kid lol! 3:13 I love how the two have a serious almost scholarly discussion with each other about God. Moses has always been the one to want to TRUTH... even if the truth may potentially be hurtful. 3:25 Love that little squint Moses made when he answered Sephora, which shows he's angry at God. 3:36 Sephora shows the spirit of a guide and a teacher. She does not act as an overbearing mother archetype, but a counselor of sort who helps you think through things and weigh all options because making a decision [in the case of Moses's desire to meet God and demand an answer from Him]. 4:53 And finally I love the way Moses looks at the direction of God in spite, because how angry he is at Him for not hearing the cries of His people in bondage. Such a well-crafted film! Substance over style!
man, the colors of the outfits they wear are amazing. like pharaohs blue outfit when chasing them to the dead sea, or moses outfit in this scene. it seems like all the colors of the rainbow are represented.
1:55 I am in love with how they actually shot this at Mount Sinai and Egypt. Some say the Israelites travelled across the entire Sinai desert to reach the Gulf of Aqaba Red Sea, but chariots aren't built for running across sand and the Sinai Peninsula is just a far better candidate and this mountain in particular has the most ancient tradition
One of the most iconic movie ever.it got class of it's own .I wish I had seen it earlier than today but I'm happy I did .The actors and actress all deserved the highest accolades. EXCELLENT is the word that come close.
I still love this movie, although it has faults. A whole LOT of scenery chewing. But there are scenes that are sad and telling. like when Sephora spoke to Nefertiri in that bitter tone. "You lost him when he went to seek his God. I lost him when he found HIm."
When I was 6 I got this movie confused with the 1960's Jesus movie King of Kings. With this scene specifically I said to my mom look a Jesus movie. She was irritated and said that's not Jesus. I loved these movies when I was really young. They were more than religious movies, they felt like a foundation to society with their arguing points in a few scenes.
Actress Yvoone de Carlo had a good look & superb acting talents but unfortunately, she did't get enough roles to prove her worth. I believe she was from Vancouver,BC, Canada.
I dont take anything away from Anne Baxter, as she is very pretty, but Yvonne DeCarlo is gorgeous, and this movies best representation of 'All Woman' and what a woman truly is. Moses knew she was the one, when he said 'I will dwell in this land'. She looked, he looked, and you just know she's the one for him. Even before that at the well. I think she even knew it too.
actually there is an inaccuracy in this scene jethro and his community are from the children of midian not ishmael...today the descendants of midian are the people of the druze religion. and their prophet is jethro..
Beautiful movie. Beautiful actors and actresses. I have watched this movies many time, especially during the Lent Season. I have never tired of watching it.
Is that why Sephora the place where all the ladies get the skin care is so amazing for ladies? Ladies love that place. Maybe you should pronounce it like Moses’s wife Sephora
This is the ultimate American movie that depicts the concept of our actual God and the God of Abraham, Ishmael, Moses and Muhammed (Peace be upon them all) and Muslims. Also the God of the followers of the Old Testament, whether it be those certain denominations of Christianity and the Jews who follow the Torah.
Because they did NOT know how to behave. God said the Israelites were a stiff necked people. The people here in the movie were not representative of the average Israelite. The Israelites were just as hard headed as anyone else and turned away from God on many occasions.

Not even the greatest biblical epic. Both Ben Hur and Spartacus are better.
One of the best comedies ever.
