this is something that i think swings back the other way for a lot of people over time. When I was newer I would do the same. Post a ring for 3d, 15 mins later get a whisper and I'd think to myself "thats too low i guess I will price for 5d". then over the course of the next 2 days I get no offers for it as I reduce it back to the 3d. end up selling it for 1d 2 weeks later or it just rots in my stash since better rings are getting crafted at this point. only takes that happening a few times to realize that sometimes you just get lucky and someone looking for your specific mods hit trade and only yours was there shortly after posting.

One thing that made me absolutely mad last league was when i tried to buy an extremely build specific ring. The stat combination was so unusual on it the guy listing had it up for 3 weeks at that point, but it was perfect for my build. (cost around 70c) So i got pretty happy i found the perfect ring i wanted in my build cus all other rings missed something i wanted etc. I whisper the guy selling it. No response , i checked on him with /whois command and he was in a map. Okay i thought i can wait ill whisper him later. 20mins later i /whois at him and he is in hideout. PERFECT, i whisper him again , no response. I was like k maybe he is afk just haven"t got the AFK tag from the game yet. I wait again another 15 mins , /whois at him he is in Act3 town i whisper again. No response. I spammed /whois on him for a few mis and he was moving between town/hideout etc. I kept trying to whisper him once in a while. No response. I got mad . Okay fk you then i'll look for a similar item cus i just wasted around 90mins on this and i want to actually fking play now. I relist the items on the trade website with similar stats and there he is with the same item posted 1mins ago with a slightly higher price (95c).
I was mad, like actually mad. I wrote for the guy telling him he is an asshole , why the fk would he relist the item when he waited 3 weeks to sell it and only i came thru? Like i bet the ring was actually unsellable if you don't need those specific stats. Cus all the other rings have higher /better stat rolls for average builds and way cheaper. After i ranted on him for being an asshole i went and started to run a few maps and he responded with " I wanted to make sure you really want the item " and tries to invite me. I told him to stick that fking ring up his ass and blocked him.
Legitimately ruined my day and further tradings in the league. Cus i kept waiting for the seller to just reprice it and don't fking respond on any item i whispered for. Unlike the fast selling tattoos where i could understand pricing higher cus many ppl want it and you want profit etc this was a single fking ring that literally only i wanted thru a month ... fk still makes me angry.

Personally I've found a way to deal with the trade system and still efficiently sell all the shit I find that's worth anything for decent prices:
    - I dump nearly everything I find directly into premium tabs that list all items for the chaos equivalent of 1 divine. Once the tab is full I start lowering the chaos value by a few every few minutes (usually between maps) and selling items as people whisper me for them.
    - You can list rares in separate tabs that you lower more slowly as those sell a lot slower in general to increase their potential value, but I don't really bother.
    - I generally only accept trades for stackable items if they use the bulk trading whisper format as you often get people that think you're trying to sell the full stack you put up for the listed amount while you're still lowering it.
    - If you get whispers for an item immediately after putting it up for the 1 div equivalent, especially if you get spammed, remove it from the tab and search/list its price separately. This happens very rarely if you're just mapping normally so it's not too disruptive.
Doing it like this I don't need to know the actual market value of anything I find unless it's a very expensive item, and I still sell pretty much everything that's worth at least the amount I deem worth the time it takes to trade, usually more.

If the game already has the ability to highlight you the item in your trade stash after getting whispered to, then it shouldn't be impossible to automize the sale of said item somewhat, right? Don't want to make 10, 100 chaos deals? Don't list items for that. If you make 3 Div running a map then only list 3 div items. Problem solved. This is asinine

There is a VERY big difference between SC and HC on this topic. HC buyers will wait for an item because they understand that the person can't leave what their doing immediately and replying may kill them, so you're forced to learn patience. In SC, because of over-saturation, there are a ton of items that will probably fill your filter criteria and if someone doesn't reply, you just go down the list.
I started to play SC leagues with my friends and by a few weeks in, I literally don't sell anything for less than a divine and even when I make a div sale, after another week, I start to skip those too. It's a legitimate issue. I never thought that I'd be like that, until I tried SC trade. It beats you down. Literally, you just tire out from inviting people and them not showing up due to them messaging someone else because I didn't reply within 3 seconds; or you tire out from trading up/down currency in SC... That is hell. Yes, you can just post your currency up and it will be much faster to sell, rather than buy, but man it still blows.
Keep in mind, I have about 12k hours in this game, so my experience will differ from someone who doesn't understand how to buy/sell items as well.
IMO: SC should get a trading post / auction house; HC can stay as-is.

Having to whisper tens of people and ending up having to pay twice what you expected is the most annoying thing, and a big part of why I switched to standard and rarely trade. I already had a good amount of currency to build from, and don't need to worry about buying currency, maps, scarabs etc. The only thing I use trade for are particular items that I can't craft myself, or bases to craft on. Trade is the only thing that sucks the fun out of the game for me.

its very simple. Lets take the Tattoo example. It is listed for 15c. It's probably worth 30c. These people that dont answer to whispers are putting it so low to probably buy these items themselves for 15c. or they put it up 10 days ago and perma play in DND mode, who knows. Regardless, if you want to BUY an item, then you have to assume the lowest price is a lowball and probably noone WANTS to sell it that low, they just listed it for the previous mentioned reasons. So you go down the list and start your whispers there. If you are desperate you can also whisper the lowballers, but with low chance of success.

    • @NavanBethrax
      @NavanBethrax Год назад +2

That's exactly what I thought. All those low prices don't really reflect the real value. I still whisper the price-fixers though.
I started to view the whole thing like a reverse auction. If I buy bulk, I always whisper around 10-15 people at once. The one who answers first won my bid and gets my money.
If I need more I keep trading with people answering late. And If I don't need the item anymore and It's just one person, I say sorry and explain that someone else was faster.
      You have 3 options:
      1. Try sniping someone that got tricked by the price-fixers and you get the Item under market value and make a profit.
      2. Figure out the real market value and skip the first 20-30 people assuming those are price-fixers anyway and you get the item for market value but it takes a little longer
      3. If you know you need bulk consider paying more than market value. If you pay a little more people tend to answer fast. In that case you pay for better service and it takes way less time.
Oh and if you want to figure out the real market value (works best for bulk sold items):
Let's say you want to sell Stacked Decks ...
Entries that are days old with thousands of Stacked Decks are most likely price-fixers
Entries with only a few Stacked Decks might be real but are most likely under-pricing.
You want to look for new entries with large Stacks of a few hundred, listed only a few hours ago. Because you can assume that these people successfully sell for that price.

If he didn't, the item won't be listed for trade anymore and wont annoy any other people. By listing an item and not selling it when you get a message, you're annoying the person trying to buy it and yourself, since you'll be getting dms for that item. I will scroll up the chat box a bit so the box stays on the 1st guy who whispered. I invite him to trade. By the time I finished trading maybe I already get 30 whispers or more.
So it's not that I want to troll you or not seriously want to sell, the demand just comes very fast and the first guy gets it and you are not him. The item might be sold already when you whisper me.
The trade server still list my item about 2-3 minutes after it is sold. I usually sell in between mapping and once my high value item is sold, i turn on DND so i stop getting whispers. So that's one thing that happens when you dont get any response from sellers.

Where in the past it would be normal to not have anyone reply to a 5c trade now you can reasonably expect a lot of players to not respond to a 25c or more trade. For new players that 25c might represent half their wealth and can really create an extremely frustrating experience.

This is the first league where I've played hundreds of hours and as such I got into trading quite a bit. I'd say for me, I always take a trade unless I'm in a timed event, at which point I'll send a quick message to let them know. I also don't price everything at once, and sometimes I'll leave my to-sell items un-priced so I can enjoy a day of just mapping. Pricing wise I do price just a bit more than the lowest offers since I know a lot of them are just price fixers, but I also would rather something sell than have it sit for a month.
Towards the end of the league I decided to try compass rolling, and that requires a lot of trading since I did like 1500 or 2000 compasses at a time. It was interesting, but considering the huge amount of trading that requires, my overall view is that most people are decent folk and trading is pretty easy if you can devote your time to it. The hardest bit is just what this video describes though, making that judgment call if it's worth going out of maps for a trade.

First who answered kicked me out, because I was using more than two seconds to check the item. Since then, I have few times got an item which didn't have crafted mod there was supposed to be. It was still showing in a time of a trade but not when I had it. Don't know if this is a bug in a game or intentional hoax.
Another annoying problem is availability. You use an hour to find a good item. When try to send a whisper, page needs to be refreshed and you never find it again.
I really wouldn't like to sell anything, because I don't like to get interrupted nor do annoying routines for nothing. Games are supposed to be fun, and the trade could be done automatically and safely.
Anyway, I don't like the idea of massive farming and terribly expensive items. Campaign phase was fun and so the early mapping, but it appears that there would be a need to run hundreds of maps routinely to get good enough gear to continue.
My first character is at lvl90 with pretty good damage. I have run tier14 unique maps, but it can still suddenly die in tier6 maps. It's either overwhelming or dead, which is not particularly fun. Next one is at lvl75, and it it hard dying but because smaller damage, it's too slow to make money.
Both would need something like 50-100 divines to fix problems but it would take a year to get that much. A map takes 10-30min and gives 0-2C and small amount of something else.

Something should be done in that sense, the game has such a unique trading system that is a waste not giving attention to it.

Honestly I've been playing poe for around 2500 hours with my friend and I'm the merchant. Me and my friend run maps then after wards he dumps everything on me and i price check and sell everything (god yes I use Awakened Poe Trade, mercury trade, and TFT bulk! I am not insane). Once we get more and more geared I stop selling single items under a certain amount of chaos, for example is my build has 20-50 divs in it and I'm slaughtering many maps per hour I usually don't sell single drops under 40-60c because I believe the maps are more worth then the trades at that point so I do not put up those items. Of course I still collect essence and such because BULK but I'm not stepping out for a 15c yellow helm.
Another thing I do is Sunday slash day! Where every Sunday I cut my price down usually my half every times so like: |200c -> 100c -> 50c -> removed| I do this because liquid chaos/divs are NOT real chaos/divs having a 25div item is awesome but if no one buys it and you can't use it it's worth less then a scroll of wisdom at that point. I also love being the merchant! I made a storefront, get to meet people with crazy skins, people talk and complement me on my storefront, and it makes the game FEEL more alive then just a auction house where you click 3 buttons, wait a week, and check your mail.
The trade has it's flaw because it relies/trusts on humans to do the bulk of the work and that sometimes backfires due to a some shady dude. It should 100% have some form of in game mention, link, or window for newer players because for the first 500-1000ish hours I didn't know it existed!!! A large enjoyment for me is through the trade system and playing with my friend so I hope it continues they way it does.
    Stay safe, Exile!

I personally don’t gain any enjoyment from the act of trading so I limit what I list to sell. First 2-3 weeks of the league I don’t sell anything less than 50c and don’t leave maps until people accept party invite and go to my ho. After that nothing less than a divine and bulk sales. If people ask politely about giving change then I usually do.

Had one dingus this league that tried to convince me in broken english that I had listed 3 silver oils for 40c and he wanted all of them for his 2 chaos stacks. No buddy, it's 40 a pop in a 3 oil stack, GTFO

There are more and more 'events' in PoE, like the league mechanic quite often, blight, abyss, even delve, where if you leave you lose. I'm not even sure you can leave delve if you want to, no portals until done? Anyway, GGG needs a async way to sell, not an AH (I know that horse is long dead) but perhaps an in-hideout selling stash or merchant npc. EQ did it decades ago, GGG can manage to do it now. They won't, but they could.

Um, just so anyone who isn't aware knows - The reason no one replies to whispers at least in terms of currency and some very specific items at the listed rate is because they are trying to " Fix " the market. If 30 people have things posted at 12-20 c each - But the actual first preson that replies is selling it for 40, how many new players do u think are using awakened poe trade to check OR going online to check and see " oh, 12c ; I'll sell mine for 10 to get rid of it fast ". People have bots, scripts and all sorts set up for mass buying these currencies and things listed at lower rates which they then list at 2-4x that amount or sometimes even more for profit.
The unfortunate reality is there is no real system in place to protect new players from things like this, you just have to learn over time by playing. It's not a nice feeling when that happens to you, but that's just how the market is sadly.

People who want some kind of automated system basically just see this as an issue of convenience not understanding that GGG hasn't budged on synchronous trade for over a decade because its protecting the in-game economy from massive item inflation.
The whole point is to create an opportunity cost and limit available supply. Basically, its a seller's market where a player can reasonable make more wealth PLAYING THE GAME than spending time accepting every trade. Automating trade would remove that opportunity cost and massively increase supply. It would then be a buyer's market forcing savage price competition and undercutting that would lead to item values crashing very quickly. That's how a game gets into the situation D3 did with the AH where a player was just better off playing the AH all day than trying to farm items.

Not gonna lie, I low-key despise people that put things into the trade tabs at prices they won't walk out of a map for.
If it's so cheap that you can't be bothered to sell it as an individual item, sell it in bulk.
If it can't be sold in bulk and you can't be arsed responding unless you're literally in the stash at the time of the whisper, don't put it in the tab.
I completely understand having enough currency that 5c isn't worth it anymore, but I have zero understanding for people being in that position and then putting the 5c item in anyways.
That said, this is really a tool issue. If we had a decent trade system where the trade could happen without the seller having to go out of their way to dig it out of the closet to hand over personally, we wouldn't be having this problem.
For people yelling about the "gameplay opportunities" of in-person trading or opportunity cost: I couldn't give less of a crap. It's a boring, tedious waste of time and I don't care if a handful of people can't scam newbies unless the trade is in-person. They can start a mail spam bot like all the other reasonable internet trolls.

I wait 10sec for response if nothing I move on sometimes even 5 sec and move on when buying, when selling what is meant to go in bulk I sell in bulk otherwise vendor stuff from 1-20c when I have tabs full of divine range, so I don't get bothered for trade I don't wanna leave map or something, anyway I use 3th party trading app (overlay) so everything is much faster and easier (overwolf is what I use if someone reading and wondering). Have over 1000h in SC only problem I have in trade is exchanging c-div and div-c, even when I take 100th person down the list doesn't respond lol

How I try to avoid the trade system completely because its such ass is after I get my league start character functioning enough to start doing serious farming strats I bulk sell everything through TfT. Literally everything. (except anything I have crafted obviously) but those are not 25c sells I usually don't profit craft anything in anytime in the league that isn't at least worth a few Divines, but for all stackable currencies, maps those kinds of things I don't even put in trade tabs anymore. I work as hard as I can in the first week or so of the league to get everything in place just to avoid having to trade through the trade site.

Fuck TFT. Getting banned there is easy, just one triggered PoS whining to the mods that you didn't answer to him flooding your DMs, so "he is price fixing".

Just never post anything for sale while mapping, then put the tab on public while you eat dinner on something, the whispers will come and you will be less annoyed because you are not in a map
