PLEASE include the "Murder" ost in its peak somewhere in the middle in the Griffith conversation with Guts while Guts tries to attack Griffith. That whole segment even after the whole Count just felt desperate as fuck and the Murder soundtrack with the vocals really helped induce that intensity.

YAAAY!!!! This is the project of my dreams! There is a slow-but-steady pacing, and stillness about the '97 adaption that really allowed for the story, the emotion and deeper philosophical concepts of Berserk to shine. And i think it's because the quietness and stillness allowed you to fully absorb what was going on throughout the whole 25 episodes we were given, this slow build-up that accelerates into the madness and apocalypse of episode 24/25. Music was used so sparingly. These new adaptions (including some fan adaptions as of late) have this ADHD pacing and movement in scenes, oversaturated with music and noise that totally drowns, and honestly does more to distract you from what's going than just letting it speak for itself. The concept of "Less is More" is totally unknown to people these days, they think having loads of movement, flashy effects and blaring over-the-top music is what will capture the action. And I reckon that's because people mistaken Berserk for just a "Badass" action comic... which it is of course, but it's only one component of Miura's story-telling; the action scenes are secondary and much time is used to build up to them. Nothing is meaningless in Berserk and there is a cause and effect to everything that's happening in it's universe. Berserk is more than just actions, it's political, philosophical, "Shakesparian", spiritual, religious, and dealing with themes about war, trauma, mental illness, revenge, friendship, human nature etc... A successor to Berserk' 97 is probably Vinland saga, it's so beautiful, with steady pacing and uses modern technology to remedy a lot of things Berserk suffered from. The 3 Berserk movies weren't bad either and good balance between Japanese and Western styled directing. Wishing you guys at Arche best of luck.
