This video was a roller coaster of emotions. At first it felt like a paid ad for Costco and then the Shyamalan twist came where he was mad for the lack of selection.
I couldn't quite tell, but it's likely that the Dremel at Home Depot was the same price but without all the accessories. Costco quite often has the manufacturer create a unique bundle as a value-add which makes it totally worthwhile.
Yeah, the one at Costco has the 35 dollar flex shaft rotary tool included on top of the 84 dollar pack that they have at home depot. It also comes with 19 more accessories on top of that.
I'm a Costco member here in the UK and was expecting the US Costco to be filled with tools and was very surprised to see our Costco has loads more tools in store.
One of my favorite regional Costco differences is in areas with a large Indian/Pakistani/Bengali community they will have absolutely banging premade food from those regions by companies that cater to them.
Im honestly not sure Ive even seen tools at Costco any time I've been 😂 maybe my grandparents just don't go in that part of the store but we typically make a complete loop so I think I would have seen them 🤔
When I moved out to Japan, I consolidated my tools into a rolling milwaukee packout setup since I didn't know if I would have a garage or carport. I left back thousands of dollars worth of tools stateside and brought what I thought I would need to fix my itch for a few years. I also brought some additional random/odd and (honestly) pointless tool sets with me. One of these redundant sets has sentimental value to me. It was a Crescent branded 3/8 socket set my dad bought me at Costco when I was a teenager. I got by with that toolset working on bikes and cars in my early teenage years. While I don't buy tools at costco anymore, browsing the tools will always be a fond memory.
I'm surprised I know something that they don't about this kind of stuff but if you want to know the proper tire pressure there is a sticker on the inside of the driver side door that tells you what it should be for your car. Don't use the number on the tire because you'll way over inflate it.
And the terry towels for use in the kitchen. You’ll save tons on paper towels and it’s better for the planet to wash a stack instead of running through a few rolls of paper towels.
Those yellow platinum rags are by far the best rags for detailing IMO. Good for quick detailing, windows, interior, engine bay. They dont scratch the paint, dont leave fibers or dust, and they dont fray. Just dont use them with isopropyl alcohol on white surfaces. I did that for sap removal on my truck and now a small portion on my hood is highlighter yellow...
John jokes about certain employee's not knowing how to use a ratchet strap then goes to show the entire internet the wrong way on how to use a ratchet strap, lmfao.
hahaha dude for real. I had to add a comment of my own for it. Then I had to do more research to see if the way I have been doing was right or wrong only to discover how confidently wrong John was when showing how to do it. especially when he said idk, wrap it around again or something lol
I use the CAT ratchet straps, every single day. I wont go back to any other straps after using them. They stay in the bed of my truck, in all weather, with no rust or issues. The extra long strap lets you wrap around lumber and still have room to tighten in. Hands down, best straps around.
Let me tell you right now. The small compact dolly, I bought one several years ago. It was meant to hold 300 pds, 3 slightly larger wheels. I use to think that this thing was perfect for me. Due to health issues, I can't carry anything anymore, so I thought it would be great. It worked great inside the house to carry fairly light stuff and the very first time I put 4 packs of spring water bottles on it, so around 125 - 150 pds I would say! When I took the small step that goes into my house, the wheels on one side broke which broke the telescopic mechanism for the handle. Don't do too much with it, you'll be VERRRRRRRY disappointed.. Great video. Thanks
The Costco Dremel has a significant amount of accessories and other bits added to the kit. Notably a flex shaft which alone makes it worth more than the HomeDepot bundle.
I am on my feet 8-12 hours a day at work. Walk on avg 10 miles. first went with Bombas. I keep getting the same wear in the same spot. Only issue with returns if you get them on sale. You will only be reimbursed on the sale price. So you will be out of pocket replacing them. Other than that. Free shipping, no questions asked, Stress free. But after a few months getting these holes. I looked elsewhere. Bombas Merino whool. Comfort 10/10. I now wear these around the house after work. I have also been using Darn Tough. Same 5 pairs for over a year. No holes. Nothing. Same feel and comfort as day one. Not as comfy as Bombas, but, so far hold up. And I am a Large man. 6'2" 315lbs. So Darn Tough for work and Bombas for home.
our costco always has a set of dewalt power tools and a set of bosch power tools dewalt has jigsaw, impact driver, drill, circular saw, torch, 3x 5ah battery, charger and tstak deep storage units bosch has sds plus, impact driver, drill, angle grinder, 3x 4ah battery, charger and carry bag
Whoa...If our Costco carried Bosch I'd have 3 of everything. That Bosch battery powered cannister vac is the best tool I've ever purchased. You do need a couple of 8Ah batteries to make best use of it.
If you bring a big enough truck, you could try and buy every tool at Canadian Tire. They sell more than tires. Nothing beats a Mastercraft maximum tool when it’s on sale! All you fellow Canadians know what I’m talking about.
I've used a Fanttik power driver on my bench for a couple months now. I'm a radio technician so I don't use it in any high torque situations but it's worked perfectly for what I need. The ergonomics could be better but I've adapted to how it fits my hand and I find myself reaching for it now instead of a screwdriver.
I've had memberships to all three (Bjs, Sams, Costco) and my personal experience is that Costco is great if you don't have a Sams or Bjs nearby. Kept my Costco membership for one year, but have had BJs and Sams memberships for the past 14 years. And Sams has the same hot dog and coke deal, as well as warm soft pretzels.
I have a Fantic tire inflator. Charge it after I use it and months later it was still at full charge. I highly recommend it. Just make sure to always charge it after you use it.
I have a friend who work for the Las Vegas NV Costco. When I asked them about some things including some tech and tools. They say they have slowly been phasing out tools even mobile phones. They will leave that to phone providers. Tools to places like Home Depot or Lowes. They plan on phasing out power tools all together soon as they never sold he said. He's been working at Costco for over 7 years. He says they may even take out some of their TV's and have a smaller selection, if you want them you will need to go online. Costco's inventory changes from location to location. So they sell stuff that sells for that area. TV's and Tools and phones are 3 things that don't sell well. This is also why you don't see some things back in the store even if it may have sold well at 1 location.
We have solid deals at Canadian Tire. Mastercraft items go on sale non stop... Fathers day and Christmas are the big sales I always make sure to go to.
We used the two wheel version of that little collapsible hand truck for 15 years. Works great. Prefect for moving smaller stuff. Homeowner grade, but just fine for that!
If you arent truck driver EVERYONE struggles with ratched straps! Ratched straps are made by the devil and can sense it if you are in a hurry or need to poop
They all apparently struggles because he just loaded the ratchet strap incorrectly. A properly fed strap doesn’t pull through the center as he demonstrated. It feeds in from the back (as he started), through the slot, then around the shaft and exits from the back agin. This allows the extra strap to easily pull tight then ratchet, doesn’t eat the entire strap and over feed the drum, and is literally how it was designed to be used.
Those llittle handtrucks by Magna are priceless. So many times I have "been let me run to my car" and came back with mine to move something pretty heavy upstairs or just to another vehicle. I have the original two wheel model.
I've bought loads of dewalt tools at uk costco. The big bag with brushless impact driver, drill, circular saw, torch, multi-tool and sander. Also bought sds drill, a nut runner, laser measure, angle grinder, blower, jigsaw, laser level and a decent radio. All in tough system boxes. Most of the batteries were 5amp ones too. When i compared the costco prices to other stores i saved hundreds of pounds. I hate shopping but love going there. But missus has the bank cards when we go and i have to near on beg to buy anything. I find saying they're for work used to work but now shes clued up!! Haha
The little mini vac is really handy to connect to my belt sander or spindle sander to keep the dust and debris contained since I don't have a central dust collection system. It's plenty for those needs and doesn't take up a ton of space, is fairly quiet compared to a large shop vac, and the hose fits without an adapter on the larger belt and spindle sander and with a small adapter on the belt sander.
Perfect test for those dollies... Pavers. Like the patio style. I have an old one just like this that a moving company "donated" to me when they delivered my household. It's not airless... Well mine are if I don't keep them inflated lol. Pave stones tested it's metal and almost won.
On the dermal kit, the Home Depot dermal dosnt come with the extended low profile attachment which I think is like $40 or $50. Unlike Costco comes with it
Buy tools from Canadian Tire....online obviously, they're like the typical Lowes, Rona and Home Depot. They have a well-known brand (infamously, some would say) amongst us canucks called, "Maximum" and "Mastercraft". It would be awesome to see what you guys think.
I think he would be blown away by the Mastercraft quality once you factor in their standard 50%+ discount and the conversion to USD. He'll be buying tools for $10 USD 😂
I've been binging your channel for the past 2 days. I'm not even a woodworker but I do live in a van that I built myself using a bunch of Ryobi tools I bought. I've been told that it looks nice enough to be in a news segment about van life lol. One day when I buy a house I want build a small shop and build another one. anyway I like your channel, youre a likeable guy. you probably know that tho lol
Totes at Home Depot look the same as the ones at Cosco, but are not and will not stack on each other. Go with one or the other. I pick Cosco totes because you can also get the 2 small totes to stack on the large Cosco totes if you place them perpendicular and side by side to the large ones.
Every time I see a Bombas ad I think to myself "man I love me a good pair of super comfy socks, people don't understand that soft plush sox are an underrated luxury.' But then I remember that Bombas is charging $50 for fucking hospital socks, and pretty much abandon the idea of buying them afterwards.
Wow, you're right. But Bombas have super cute designs. And they support Gabi Belle, which is the first time I saw a spot for them. They obviously have some cool, because the channels they approach all have a sense of humor. I mean, back in the 80's a pair of Reeboks was the most comfortable tennis shoe there was, but they wore out quick. So you pay a premium for style and make a durability trade-off for the comfort. A cheaper and more readily available option is just get the women's socks. The Hanes ankle socks for women (with the pink toe stripe/seam) are super comfortable. I used to steal my old lady's and now she just buys them for me, so I'm not stealing hers. I've been tempted to try her underwear, but a man has limits. ;)
@@strangersound"They have cute designs" im sure you can find similar or different but equally cute socks elsewhere for much cheaper. Who is gabi belle?
Just FYI Firman actually manufactured OEM generators for other brands before deciding to just start making their own brand of generators (and power tools). I have a tri-fuel (propane, gasoline, natural gas) generator for my Florida hurricane backup power needs, and it works great. Virtually endless power as long as the natural gas line doesn't get turned off (which rarely happens). Push button/battery start is nice. The smaller "Honda-ish" looking Firman model is also really nice and although not as quiet as the genuine Honda, it's a pretty darn quiet generator.
Do a garage sale/Marketplace/OfferUp/Craigslist battle where each member has same budget for used tools and have to vote on best haul. Another idea is a soapbox derby with a limited budget/time to shop/build. Winner survives.
furman is used widely in the A/V world lol they typically make power conditioners that our audio & video systems run off of. they clean up the sound compared to a regular power strip which will have ground buzzing / issues.
Tip for anyone looking for tire pressures on a car, your vehicles suggested tire pressure is stamped on a sticker located on the drivers side "B pillar". You can find it after opening the drivers door and looking at the stickers the factory puts on the body of the car. This sticker also tell's you your vehicles correct tire size in the event that you are buying a used vehicle and the tires are mismatched or look too small for the vehicle.
Go to Canada, and go shopping at Canadian Tire (hint: its not a tire store, its much much more than that) or go to Princess Auto (its not an Auto store, its much, much more than that). Both stores are exclusively Canadian. Yes we have your "American" big box stores, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot Etc. but CDN Tire and Princess Auto are exclusive to Canada.
Add me to the list of folks that think the chicken bake is way overrated. The crispy, yet chewy textures are good. But, it tastes like a Hot Pocket with salad dressing. Not bad, but not good either. Your video highlights why I'm not a Costco fan. I like to go to a store for a specific purchase and their prices are not always a bargain. My wife likes Costco because she enjoys browsing for hours and doesn't care how much "stuff" costs. Costco's stock is always a hit-or-miss affair. Thanks for another fun video.
It is precisely a hot pocket with ranch dressing inside of it. You can check the ingredients on the box of them they sell in the freezer section. I am not a fan either. That said I’m a huge Costco fan as they’ve saved me about a lifetime of membership fees just on one year of diapers and formula.
Whoever edits these videos, these are great. I’m having a blast watching this with the cut scenes. Lol I totally forgot about “ I said don’t disturb me while I’m cleaning my room” . 😂
My understanding is that everything at Costco is specific to Costco. The base product might be the same IE the screwdriver or the dremel but the accessories will be better in the Costco version.
I always see tool comparisons for Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart, but what about Menards? I would love to see a comparison of their Masterforce in house brand of power tools to something like Ryobi, Dewalt, Milwaukee etc. I have a Masterforce impact drill, regular drill, and cordless weedwacker. I've had them for 7yrs and they're still going strong. Still using the original batteries too.
Those inflastors are awesome for dirt bikes tyres. I used to carry a CO2 gas powered inflater, now I carry a similar one to the fanttik. Easily does a couple of bike tyres out on the trail, and nice and small.
I have a Fanttik motorized bicycle pump. Its barely bigger than a cell phone and is great. I even used it to put air in my wife's car tires and it did great without overheating.
I had the older magna cart when it was a single wheel and I over weighted that thing so many times but it never broke! Only thing that wore out was the tire treads! And I used it for like 4 years carrying around my big tool chest set and many extra items with an old cargo net zip tied onto the back to carry even more tools and car parts. Eventually when the wheels wore out I upgraded to a solid bar axle and used some harbor freight air up tires and it made the cart feel so much better in gravel! But not able to fold up as small obviously. I’m gonna have to get that new cart and try it out myself. My old one I threw away a few years ago because I stopped doing my junkyard hustle.
That brushless stick scrubber was actually available at my local Costco a couple of weeks ago. I'm also certain I've seen tool chests and stuff in store. But I don't remember what time of the year it was.
I've been using fanttik screwdrivers for a while. The smaller one is designed for electronics with micro screws. I keep that air inflator in my motorcycle bag. It'll inflate all four of my car tires and still have enough charge for my motorcycle tires
i love watching this guy he’s only posted a few videos and just now starting out and can pull views better then some famous people i love watching this guy
I got a Dewalt socket set (DWMT73804) from Costco for $20 a couple years ago. Works well. I warrantied out the ratchet due to sticking mechanism, but they sent me a new one for free.
I use Cat straps to hold my golf cart in the back of my toy hauler, they work great. I also have the original Magna cart folding utility cart with just 2 wheels and it works great also.
So it might help to read what you are buying lol. That shark is kinda cool. No switching between dry and wet. Then just suck up some clean water to wash it out. I bought one for the RV for those just incases/dog messes that you need to get up quickly.
Definitely gotta do every tool from a truckstop, man if they got anything kind of a selection it should be fascinating to see what yall do with em. From my experience it's usually vice grips, channel locks and shifty mini socket sets. Nothing that ever gives you leverage for a repair on a semi by the way.
Aldi sells cost effective tools under the Ferrex brand. Aldi's non-grocery stuff aisle changes weekly so it might be hard to acquire them. I've bought the electric screw driver and the pole saw. They also sell a chainsaw. If they keep adding to that tool line, could make for a fun video but may have to buy some that have already sold out on ebay.
I recently met the store manager at a cOSTCO....really nice guy. I asked him what happened to the tools they used to carry. He said COSTCO couldn't compete with Lowes and Home Depot (he used the term "big box stores"). I am a bit "fuzzy" about when they began ramping down tools, but it seems like it was 8-10 years ago. Disappointing, but understandable. I used to look forward to going to what I called "the guy section!" Now it's mostly generators, gloves, shelving, tool work stations, small wet/dry vacs, ladders, dollies, some automotive items, batteries, flashlights and outdoor flood lights.
Another yt channel tested the Hercules compound miter saw from hobo freight and at half the price of a Dewalt, it was deemed to be a good deal for a starter saw. Maybe give that Hercules a solid test.
dang that costco is skimping.. ive seen my costco carry full on 44inch stacked rolling tool chest. costco motor oil is good. power tools. Some have the big mechanics tool sets and wrenches. I buy way too much stuff at costco cause i go there and they definitely have things you didn't know you needed.. always a great place for new snacks to try.
I found one of those cosco dolly’s in an alley a few years ago. I’ve moved several things with it including a refrigerator down three flights of stairs.
As my wife says...you don't go to Costco knowing what you need, you let Costco tell you what you need

I've had one of those collapsing magna cart dollies for over 10yrs. Stays behind my truck seat. Still going strong, the old model had standard wheels.
My shop is almost entirely Mastercraft. It’s great stuff for a beginner workshop.
John wearing his shop shades while driving is hysterical.
Totes at Home Depot look the same as the ones at Cosco, but are not and will not stack on each other. Go with one or the other. I pick Cosco totes because you can also get the 2 small totes to stack on the large Cosco totes if you place them perpendicular and side by side to the large ones.
That doll you got is 1 of the best ones you can get your hands on Love those Great for when you're working in the field
I've been tempted to try her underwear, but a man has limits. ;)
Any company that gives away as much as they sell is having you pay for both pairs, but they get the tax deduction for charitable contributions
I second this. A Facebook marketplace tool challenge or even a pawn shop tool challenge would be so interesting
The bigger Fanttik screwdriver is also on TikTok Shop, and it is more geared for general use, while the small one is for tech usage.
Please actually learn how to use a ratchet strap, before misinforming please. 19:51
furman is used widely in the A/V world lol they typically make power conditioners that our audio & video systems run off of. they clean up the sound compared to a regular power strip which will have ground buzzing / issues.
I like how Poola rides in the back like he's the little kid.
That small Fantik set is actually amazing for small projects, I like to use it mainly working on electronics or my pc
I bought the tire inflator from Amazon and it came with a hard case.. i carry in my trunk on my motorcycle with a tire repair kit and it works great
Go to Canada, and go shopping at Canadian Tire (hint: its not a tire store, its much much more than that) or go to Princess Auto (its not an Auto store, its much, much more than that). Both stores are exclusively Canadian. Yes we have your "American" big box stores, Costco, Lowes, Home Depot Etc. but CDN Tire and Princess Auto are exclusive to Canada.
Fwiw, we have one of those DeWalt canister vacuums at work.
We also have ~24' walls.
That vacuum blew dust off the walls most of the way up.
Canadian Costco doesn't have them. I didn't even know they did more than pizza and dogs.
Fun video, but can we talk about how John swings his boot onto his foot without looking during the ad read at 13:10? Like what?
Those inflastors are awesome for dirt bikes tyres. I used to carry a CO2 gas powered inflater, now I carry a similar one to the fanttik. Easily does a couple of bike tyres out on the trail, and nice and small.
@1:48 they walk past the Hota scrubber, @11:50 "i would have love to have bought that cordless scrubber"
i bought that portable inflator a month ago, has come in handy already. worked well!
That is the incorrect way to feed a strap thru a ratchet for anyone wondering
I have a Fanttik motorized bicycle pump. Its barely bigger than a cell phone and is great. I even used it to put air in my wife's car tires and it did great without overheating.
11:24 you can see the Dremel was cheaper than the sales floor by $20 and cheaper than Home Depot by $5 if you got it online
Hope they see this i was about to comment
The dolly part at the end was entertaining 😂
Why are they wearing safety glasses wherever they go? They look like a bunch of dorks lol
They're dual prescription and safety glasses, they sell em at ShopShades
Father-in-law has that Fantik cordless screwdriver. Very nice for doing basic stuff, I highly recommend it
Is it just me or did he use the ratchet strap wrong when he pulled the tail through instead of up and away?
During holiday season, they usually have large Dewalt or similar Stanly mechanic sets for around $100
Bro, Sam’s club pizza is massively dominant over Costco dogs. Also you do ratchet straps wrong, so…you’ve lost a lot of credibility with me today.
I have that hand truck and its awesome, its really durable and i have really used it like crazy. A great buy
That multi use dolly is actually pretty decent. Use it at work for moving machine parts around the shop.
That foldable handtruck has been one of the Best purchases i ever bought
Accidently came upon a new video. Loveeeee it. Just the right time for a bit of resting
I've been using fanttik screwdrivers for a while. The smaller one is designed for electronics with micro screws. I keep that air inflator in my motorcycle bag. It'll inflate all four of my car tires and still have enough charge for my motorcycle tires
Firman is a good brand for Generators, it is also sold at Lowes and several other smaller retail stores around where I live.
The Officer Doofy clip sent me into hyperventilating laughter. 😂😂🤣
i love watching this guy he’s only posted a few videos and just now starting out and can pull views better then some famous people i love watching this guy
I got a Dewalt socket set (DWMT73804) from Costco for $20 a couple years ago. Works well. I warrantied out the ratchet due to sticking mechanism, but they sent me a new one for free.
Sam in the backseat like a little kid lol 😂
I use Cat straps to hold my golf cart in the back of my toy hauler, they work great. I also have the original Magna cart folding utility cart with just 2 wheels and it works great also.
Hey John don't say "hold my tube" to another guy ever again. Just don't. Lol😂
My costco here in Vancouver, WA, has the dewalt tool pack, the scrub tool, and a few others you found online 😊
So it might help to read what you are buying lol. That shark is kinda cool. No switching between dry and wet. Then just suck up some clean water to wash it out. I bought one for the RV for those just incases/dog messes that you need to get up quickly.
I thought those cordless scrubbers were just a gimmick, but my wife wanted one. She uses it all the time and it works amazing.
I want the little folding hand truck, the bungie strap holder had me sold.. For real. That shit is cool AF! 😊
The shop shades in the car is…just… insanity. 😂
dang that costco is skimping.. ive seen my costco carry full on 44inch stacked rolling tool chest. costco motor oil is good. power tools. Some have the big mechanics tool sets and wrenches. I buy way too much stuff at costco cause i go there and they definitely have things you didn't know you needed.. always a great place for new snacks to try.
Costco so dangerous you have to wear ShopShades™
My local Costco, I'm lucky if I find much in tools like you ran into. My father inlaw, at his local Costco gotten large tool bench and tools!
I found one of those cosco dolly’s in an alley a few years ago. I’ve moved several things with it including a refrigerator down three flights of stairs.
